Had a very relaxing two nights and three days at Nelly's Beach Bar ... drank a few beers and enjoyed a lot of quite time swinging in a hammock ... Stayed in a small but comfortable cabin / Cabana Type decor .. Also Parked right in front & pretty much right on the beach. I eat mostly at the Bar / Restaurant two meals a day .. The Beach is very large here and at low tide you have to walk about 70 meters to get to the water .. Great area for walking on the beach .... Very Affordable Beers and Food as well ....

We went just to stay for the day, me and my family. A nice young woman explained that if we were going to consume from the restaurant we did not have to pay 3$ for each person, my mother asked in spanish and so did I in english... We bought like 10 sodas, one fish and 3 french fries orders... spent about 25 or 30$ (I would say that is consuming). When we were finished we were heading out and the owner says we have to still pay the 3$, apparently we were allowed to use the beach if we had spent way much more money or just allowed to use the restaurant area (not the beach) for what we paid. I´m glad we just bought 1 fish, it had no flavor in it and the fries seemed that they were cooked with recycled oil. I explained the owner that the information we got was that and he was stubborn and refused to admit he was wrong. (the young lady disapeared). If you don´t know how to run a buisness you should do something else. If you are going to charge money to people for being in your place just say so as soon as they arrive and collect the payment right away, this way you´ll give people the opportunity to decide wether they want to do this and still buy things from you (consume), and not stay there in false pretenses. We love the beach, we love Panama, we´ve been living here for seven years and visited places like bocas, portobelo, Isla Grande, San Blas, Taboga, Contadora and so on... Never encountered such rude attitude from a business owner and lack of clear information (even more from a foreign person). If you go there make sure to have everything clear, ask twice and with witness from their end.…

The only correct statement in your review was that you first spoke to a young woman. She has been helping only for a couple of weeks. So when I saw your family having a picnic on my property I asked her what she told you. I was not sure that she explained the policy and that you understood completely, so I immediately went out to your group and spoke to a woman, probably your mother. You had been there a for less than 15 minutes. I told her for use of the property it is $3 per person. I could tell she did not like it and responded that there are 4 adults and she did not want to talk about the children. I assumed she did not want to pay for them. I did not want an argument and I only charged you for the adults. You need to ask her directly to tell you the truth! The $3 included parking, beach access, use of a picnic table under a rancho, bathrooms, shower, and wi fi. If you were just in the restaurant there is not a $3 charge. You brought a cooler with food and beverages and had an all day picnic. You ordered one meal and some french fries. Think about it! You were trying to take advantage of me. And the fish was great!!! It was fresh dorado (mahi mahi), and everyone else that had it said it was fantastic. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT BEFORE YOU WRITE REVIEWS.

We stayed here for two nights. It was defiantly off the beaten track and you'll need to organise transport to get here easily. The place is a little run down but the location makes up for it. We stayed for a night and it was comfortable but it's definitely rustic. It's on a beautiful beach which is great for walking in the evening. I had read that people were paying $30 a night but we were charged $40 which was reduced from $45 which we were initially told. On a good note, the owner was out when we arrived and we were told the kitchen was closed for dinner, but when he came back he was happy to make us some chicken wings which were great. Thank you!

Basic bungalows and tents directly on the long empty beach of Las Lajas. The pacific ocean here pretty warm with nice gentle waves; perfect for body boards. And the beach offers long walks to either left sude where you will end or cross a river or right side where you find nothing but sand and palmtrees. Nellys is perfect to refresh with an Ice Cream or a cold drink on a hot sunny afternoon. The roof of the bar catches the soft wind perfectly so it makes it very comfortable. The sunsets on Las Lajas Beach are phenomenal. And Nellys Beach Bar is THE place to enjoy the evening with cold drinks, simple but delicious barfood and nice people. The rooms are filthy and very old. But nothing a bucket of bleach and a gallon of paint can't fix. The front wall we plugged the holes with plastic bags. First night we stayed in unit #4 ended up in the car to sleep. Because we had a snake in the room. Second night we moved to cabin #3 again filthy and smelled like sewer. The bathroom had no shower head and there were no towels provided. The beach how ever is amazing! Anybody saying this is a great place is lying. Could not pay me to stay there again. M.W.

WOW! That was pretty brutal. I thought you were very nice and that you were enjoying your stay. If you needed towels I would gladly have given them to you. I generally don't just put them out because they get stolen or lost. This place is not new, I am well aware of that, but it is right on the beach and we try to provide a service to our customers at a good price. Just went there for the food and the beach. Great place. Just liked the general atmosphere. The guys who serve are friendly and cool and the beach is huge. Food: we just had the fish and burgers. Both were really nice.

Rustic Surf Bar and it's right on the beach. They also have small A frames rent. They have the Best chicken wings (battered)on the beach. The beer is ICE cold and TJ is a fine host and bartender. A bit off the beaten track, but just what the doctor ordered!

TJ is an excellent host who is always around and to make sure your needs are met. 30 bucks for your own own cabin on the beach. It's not fancy but you get a fan in your room and WiFi at the bar. Also, the burger is really good.
