Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a great meal there this evening. The food was excellent, great value for money. The service was very good no delays despite being very busy. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. We couldn't fault it and would highly recommend for good food and good service.

I have booked this family run hotel on several occasions for business while filming a Television documentary in Donegal. The experience has been first class from start to finish. Excellent staff, the food is outstanding, the rooms are lovely and the location is stunning. Donegal Hospitality at its finest. I would highly recommend. Helena Gallagher (HG Productions)

Love love love everything about this family run hotel. Called on Sunday for lunch and despite not having booked we were accommodated. Food was up to its usual high standard and portions were huge. Staff friendly and accommodating, and owners just lovely as always. It is no wonder we keep going back. Thank you.

Booked for brothers surprise birthday and could not fault this hotel- Staff bent over backwards to meet every need. Rooms were spotless and beautifully decorated. Food was excellent and great atmosphere in the bar with live music. Also brews it's own craft beer!!!. Lots of personal touches with management even taking party in the birthday chorus!!! We'll done to the whole Team at Caislean Oir. We will be back ....... if you will have us

I stayed in this wonderful Hotel for 2 nights with my friend as part of a 4 night Donegal Staycation. The hotel is really beautifully decorated in very calming colours and our room was perfect. Bay views and great comfortable beds gave us a good nights sleep. Breakfast was cooked very well with quality ingredients - our thanks to the Chefs. A Hotel well worth visiting on the Wild Atlantic Way - we will return. Thanks to all the staff for looking after us so well.

What a wonderful authentic place! We arrived to a chirpy atmosphere. Everybody in the place was I'm a good mood. We relaxed watching the tide come in from our Seaview room. Which was sparkling clean and comfortable. We had the famous Surt n Turf in the restaurant which was delicious (fame deserved) chef came out personally to tell us about it!! We tried their Oir beer which had a refreshing bite with no nasty aftertaste. Drink this! It's gold 😉 They have another 2 beers of their own too. The music was good in the bar and you could sit drinking cocktails, chatting, listening to the musicians and look out to the lights from the hotel dancing across the water. (Tide in) The service was very good and the staff were warm, helpful and welcoming. It was so chilled out that I won't forget it. If you want to simply relax rejuvenate and take care of yourself, I highly recommend 👌 ☺

Excellent food served with a friendly smile. I enjoyed home made vegetable soup and a very filling seafood gratin that was delicious and just about as much as I could eat. My wife loved her seafood chowder and my Dad couldn't eat all his scampi. What a fantastic lunch.

We discovered this lovely hotel and first visited just after lockdown in June last year. This was our third visit since then and once again we had a very enjoyable and relaxed stay. Great sea view room. Lovely food and drinks. Friendly people. Plenty of places to explore in the surrounding area. We’ll be back.
