There are not enough words to express how beautiful, unique and magical Walton Court was for the biggest day of our lives. We chose Walton Court as our wedding venue on June 7, 2014 and I would not change a single thing from our experience. From the gourmet, homemade food to the fabulous small bar and from the exemplary service to the stunning views and venue this place was a dream come true.

Since I was a little girl I always wanted to get married in Ireland because of our family and how much the area means to me. My husband and I decided to get married at Walton Court site unseen and only knew what to expect from a few photos and from speaking with Paul and his family that own and operate the entire venue. We were anxious as we were getting close but once we pulled up and saw the stunning stone home overlooking the water from across the bay we just KNEW this was going to be something special.

Paul and his entire family is a HUGE part of what made our experience so special. The food at the cafe was always delicious but the meals they cooked for all of our events was spectacular. Every need we had was met and every expectation was exceeded. By the end of our wedding week we felt like the entire family and staff had become a part of our family and were truly sad to have to leave. If you are not able to host your wedding at this amazing venue the least that you could do it allow yourself to enjoy the cafe and beautiful views. Introduce yourself to the staff and I guarantee you will not be let down.

I told my husband he better already be planning an anniversary trip to come back!

We just called in to the Walton Cafe as a little treat and what a treat it was, right on the shores of Oysterhaven and with beautiful gardens it is the perfect setting for a summers afternoon. We only stopped for refreshments as we'd already had lunch but the next time I'm in Ireland I'll be calling in for lunch.

A wonderful lodging. The proprietor, Paul, is as helpful and professional as an interested innkeeper could be. Clean and charming, Walton Court offers an historical facility in a warm, inviting landscape. A terrific little cafe offers lunch and snacks. Breakfast was perfect. A beer tap is available on an honor system, so that should give you a hint about the spirit of the place. For an American like me, finding it was a bit tricky given the awkward nature of Irish country roads and poor signage. You do need to drive a bit for a good dinner. Bring your bathing suit as they offer a wonderful salt water pool in their comfortable courtyard. Short walks take you through charming coastal views. Highly recommended.

Myself and five friends spent three fabulous nights at Walton Court. This is a unique hotel for those who wish to escape the hassle of modern life.
Paul and Janice, your hosts will take care of all your needs and nothing seems to be too much trouble. The rooms are tastefully and comfortably appointed, The food is to die for, and the choice of wines and beverage is superb. Breakfasts of freshly squeezed orange, fruits, yoghourts, , porridge, cereals, a variety of breads, choice of cooked breakfasts leaves so much to choose from and yourself satiated for the day
Kinsale is a fascinating place to visit plus I would like to sail into Oysterhaven and stay at Walton Court, This i a great hotel for a week-end getaway. Try it, you will not be disappointed

Thank you for your kind comments, we are very pleased that your group enjoyed a relaxing stay away from it all on idyllic Oysterhaven Bay. Just to let you know our courtyard cafe has won Cafe of the Year award 2014, awarded by the independent Georgina Campbell's ireland-guide in conjunction with Bord Bia, the Irish Food Board.

Walton Court provides a beautiful, Irish venue for any family based activity or holiday - in our case it was my sister's wedding and our extended family and friends stayed in the self catering accommodation which is on site. My wife, 11 month old son and I stayed in the French cottage which is in the courtyard next to the main house and it was perfect for us. Close to the cafe which was open at weekends, the enclosed, heated pool and the cottage was clean, cosy and well appointed.

A problem with the shower which I notified the proprietors of on the morning of my sisters wedding(!) was dealt with professionally and without fuss. This was whilst preparations were going on for preparing (excellent) food for 90 people that afternoon. This rather sums up the attitude and teamwork which was evident throughout our stay.

We would also say that the onsite babysitter Chloe, was professional, responsible and friendly and we would have no problem in recommending her services if you have any event where you would prefer the children to be at home.

Wouldn't be a balanced review without some constructive criticism:
- some of the cottages which were being used by friends were not fully stocked (i.e. ironing board but no iron) this was rectified upon notification.
- not all the guests were introduced to the proprietors (even after a 4 day stay). So if there were any issues they did not know who to approach. Maybe a bit over the top for a self-catering accommodation but it was raised and thought it should be included.

Overall a beautiful location, perfect for families and friends - a memorable and happy time was had by all of us.

I've eaten in Walton Court many times over the last 15 months and every time we have found the food to he exceptional. I especially love the cheese platter. It offers a great variety of tasty bits and pieces of cheese, dips, olives, chutneys, bread etc

Others at the table have ordered the crab salad on occasions and it's so fresh and tasty.

We have sampled many of their cakes for desserts and all are home baked and delicious.

The staff are very helpful and the scenery is stunning. This Cafe is a hidden treasure.

A great coffee and cake stop-off while driving or cycling around this lovely area. Lunch is also available. I love the jazz in the background and a a nice day it's lovely to sit on the terrace among the herb beds. A very relaxing place with pleasant staff.

The sun was shining so the courtyard made a pleasant stop for tea and cool drinks. The fruit smoothies were popular and there was a good selection of what looked like home made cakes. A nice setting just up the road from the bay. Pleasant drive from Kinsale.

Stayed here on a short term stay.
Positives: independent cafe had fantastic food, wine etc. Beautiful courtyard setting and indoor seating also. Everything prepared to order so one needs to factor this in for your visit as service is slow. Shut since premises are up for sale.
Houses very well laid out.
Negatives: very expensive rental. WiFi was said to be so reliable that people worked from the premises. Residents laughed at this as it was so unreliable, which the owner well knew from complaints, that people purchased their own BROADBAND.
Most KITCHEN EQUIPMENT did not work, from cookers with no dial markings left - they were erased through cleaning, apparently, so you were playing a guessing game as to what temperature you had the hob at, to ovens that kept turning themselves off so it was impossible to cook with them, to washing machines that the owner couldn't explain when the light demonstrated when the door was unlocked and could be opened, to a microwave that never worked. No manuals for anything.
The underfloor heating racked up the ELECTRICTY bill. I was advised that electric bill would amount to c. 40 euro a week which is still quite expensive for a small, modern house. It came to 280 for a month!
The en suite shower (see pics on daft) had no curtain. I was told it was only to be used for washing your hair! Great waste of space!
The downstairs, built below soil level, was always cold.
I had the best (NO) VIEW but it wasn't one. I could glimpse ocean only when the beautiful trees of the neighbouring farmers field were bare.
Oh, mentioning trees - walton court owner had CHOPPED DOWN TREES that were just being made PROTECTED by the council (not many trees are given protected status in Ireland, so they must have been special). I also wouldn't p*** off the council. Owner was subsequently refused permission to put up signs for the cafe...
The POOL was never open, the honesty
BAR that l enquired after was only for main house residents and on
numerous occasions our PRIVACY was BREACHED when the owner entered the
property, 6 times!, without
permission. I was also only repaid a
third of my security deposit, and
got no explanation or apology for
such an unforgivable error.
PARKING was also INSUFFICIENT, even when a unit had just the one vehicle, which you have to have as this place is near nowhere!
The owner has tried to off load this
place before, as the last recession
took hold, to enable him to return
to England. Bad timing again this
time round! Also, they seem to support the English activity of hunting, going by the daft ad,but thankfully the neighbouring farmers has this disgusting English activity banned.

Walton Court Cafe is a lovely cafe, both inside & outside.
The only option for breakfast was ham&cheese croissant which were tasty but a bit pricey @ €4.95 each. I asked for relish on the side & this was REALLY tasty & definitely homemade; compliments to the chef.
Coffee was good, though quiet small.
It was 11.30am before the scones were baked but they were delightful with the jam & cream.
The gingerbread cake was nice also.

Overall the setting & produce is very good but the service was more than disappointing; extremely slow, none attentive, sadly no 'Cead Mile Failte' from the staff, nor even a 'goodbye'/'thank you' on paying.
We will go back again on hope that service will be better.

Hello and thank you for your feedback. We are a small cafe and make all the food on sale in our own kitchens and all orders are prepared by hand and not pre-prepared. For this reason we have a limited menu, but in addition to the popular ham and cheese croissant we have a classic and smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel as breakfast items and also available all day with other lunch items. For our coffee we use high quality artisan beans from Erik van der Kroon at Roastinghouse in Kinsale. We serve a standard 8 oz coffee cup to keep quality and flavour as high as possible. I am surprised to hear that you found our staff unfriendly, and as I you do not say what day you were here I am unable to follow up on that point. Hope to welcome you again.
