13 of us stayed for 2 nights dinner b&b, repeat of last year.Excellent welcoming small hotel, suited our needs perfectly, very good food and friendly bar. Great base for touring North West. Top class reputation for coarse angling.
Stayed one night. Staff are their greatest asset, rooms are fine and food perfectly acceptable. I had the lamb cutlets which were nice and pink - so if you want well cooked ask! Not a lot in the village but as a staging point great.
Stopped for a week and used hotel as base whilst fishing in the area. Can't speak highly enough about this hotel. The room was excellent and very very clean. Had breakfast and evening meal. Full Irish breakfast set us up for the day and was a real plateful. Dinner at night was 4 courses and coffee. Choice was excellent and standard even higher. The atmosphere in the bar area was a real Irish delight. All this rounded off by friendly and chatty staff who couldn't do enough for us led by Eamonn who never seemed to go home. Would I go again...you bet.
We stayed two nights at the Breffni Arms on our way across from Dublin to Ballina. A great find. Staff welcoming and friendly and our room was very spacious and well appointed and nicely decorated with everything we needed for our stay. Bedroom and bathroom spotlessly clean. We arrived just about the time the kitchen was closing for evening meals, but they gave us time to go to the room and then order food in the bar. Food was good pub food. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice, and we had some lovely fish one morning. Arva itself is a lovely friendly typical Irish town, with neautiful countryside all around, and the town of Cavan is well worth a visit. We were surprised to see on a sign outside the hotel that it is a 2* - should definitely be a 3*. Thoroughly…
Called in to the Breffni Arms,on Sunday, and requested if it was possible to get something to eat. I was presented with a Sunday Lunch menu which had a great choice to suit everyone. I chose the fish chowder followed by a roast beef dinner. My girlfriend had a different starter and chicken as her main course. The service was excellent and quick, the food was unbelievably good, with plenty of it, and I would say that it was the best Sunday lunch I've ever had and I am a pensioner.
