An elegant hotel which is conveniently situated near an MRT (underground train) station - about 3 minutes walk - and with numerous shops and restaurants nearby. My room was comfortable, although noise insulation was surprisingly poor - I could hear conversations from neighbouring rooms. Wi-fi was free, fast and stable. A heated outdoor swimming pool is provided on the top floor, with breathtaking views of the city. The gym was very well equipped for hotel standards. The biggest disappointment was breakfast - the buffet selection and food quality was appropriate more for a 3 - 4 star hotel, and staff seemed overworked and did not offer a single smile. A comfortable stay, but with ample hotel choices in Taipei, I would be shop around for better value on my next visit.
Furniture in the suite is all chipped and shabby Room service food arrived without water, condiments, only paper napkins and improper cutlery. Not a full set. Buffet is obnoxious. Uncomfortable seating, no ambience , like a school cafeteria. Service is terrible. . Not suitable for a 5 star hotel. Shangri la Taipei is a good example of a good buffet.
The rooms are clean and large. Service is amazing. Breakfast has a good variety of choice on food. Location is perfect with shops around, a department store is just across the street and subway station is only a 3 mins walk. The pillow is a bit too soft for me but this may be a good thing for others.
This hotel is conveniently located near shopping . Metro, restaurant and even massage places. What I love is that it has that old school great customer service hotel feel that many modern chain lost now days. The staffs are attentive and helpful, the room furniture is bit dated but amenities are well equipped with Coffe capsules , TV in bathroom , . Duo sink in two separate toilet/showe bathroom, bath ropes even a little pine apple cake as treats! Good larger than average room compare to other hotels in the area, bright and inviting decor ( many hotel just too dark) No drastic contemporary designs, crazy neon lights and excessive tourist scene.. just simply elegant and welcoming . Will definitely come back next time!
I haven’t written a review in a while, however, I recently travelled to Taipei, Taiwan for personal reasons after the COVID19 restrictions were relaxed for international travel. Because of the season and my schedule, I had the opportunity of staying in at least 3 hotels during my three week visit; 2 were outstanding and 1 was the worst, but then I digress. I want to share my choice of the Best of the Best in my opinion - The Okura Prestige in Taipei. The most important resource in any service oriented business is it’s staff, this resource must be the focus in all businesses. Bad staff equals lost customers and Okura Prestige Taipei understands this completely. We received services from the Okura Prestige Hotel that goes beyond the normal standard of 5 Stars and Excellent. The Okura Prestige staff knows what to do to make your stay enjoyable regardless of the reasons, going above and beyond expectations. Their uncanny sense of adaptability to anticipate your needs is amazing and not delivered by most major hotels in the same class. Select the Okura Prestige in Taipei, you will love it. I am a US Senior Citizen with Disabilities who travels extensively and the Okura delivers at the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) level. Thank you…
When I book this hotel, I wasn’t expecting such quality stay. Upon checking-in, the lobby was average… but the room… I book one of their standard rooms – Okura Prestige King Room. Firstly, even though this is only a 47sqm room, it somehow felt larger. The room can even convert to a small suite if you close all the functional doors. Secondly, even the hotel is 10years old now, the furnishing and interior is still in top condition – that said, shiny marble top for the sink, shiny handles… or the housekeeping here is excellent (kudos!) No particular complains about my stay here with Okura… just make sure you get their pineapple cakes. They are one of the affordable ones as gift in Taipei! Even the rooms I classify them as one of the more affordable 5* rooms. Highly recommended if you prefer to stay in city and close to the metro.…
My wife and stayed here for two nights over a recent long weekend and it was great! We've wanted to stay here a few times when in Taipei and we were both glad that we finally got to! The staff was attentive and courtious, the room very spacious and comfortable and the buffet breakfast was delicious!I did not use the pool as it was rainy and cool when we went but I did use the gym and enjoyed the views while running on the treadmill. The hotel did not disappoint and I hope to stay there again soon!
Good place recommend for family trip.Kid amenity have been placed in room for us before we request! Welcome amenity pineapple cake is so delicious. Nice stay however not much variety for breakfast at the buffet restaurant!
Disappointed service, definitely not qualified as 5 star. Service is very cold during check in, Arthur in the lobby is the only one with hospitality. They upgraded the room’s floor for birthday but nothing special. The deco is tired and boring, tv has minimal choice. Breakfast is undesirable, food are cold and chef doesn’t care much. The service at the club on first day was brilliant. The massage was top notch! Pool’s team is very considerate. Second day was hard hit by Maku Lau who seems to know nothing about service. Overall, the crew needs serious training on hospitality if it wants to claim to be a 5-star Japanese style international hotel.
Terrible experience coming to stay here -- having completed the mandatory 14 day Taiwan quarantine and booked well in advance to arrive and then be refused to stay is a disgusting way to treat guests. They claim they wish to protect other guests - in Taiwan you complete a further 7 days of "self monitoring" after the mandatory 14 days in isolation. During these 7 extra days the Taiwan government says "you can go about your life as normal". Well not at the OKURA. Worst of all with a confirmed booking over a week in advance, a call to reconfirm the reservation 2 days prior to arriving they then LIE and say they "have been trying to contact you many times". Total lie. To top it all they then said "don't worry we won't charge you for cancelling" -- excuse me - you cancelled on me on after I arrived !! I understand the very very cautious approach in Taiwan however this was a confirmed booked, reconfirmed and there was no mention of these requirements on the website (HOTELS.COM) nor in any of the follow up confirmations. The management here should be ashamed of themselves - they have lost many customers through their poor management of this and guest treatment. Be warned - don't bother coming here as a foreigner recently completing 14 day quarantine as they will treat you like a diseased leper and throw you out on the street. AVOID. 1 star is too much for them.…
