Absolutely amazing house in great location, very clean and cozy, comfortable and pleasantly decorated rooms and living room for having breakfast and meting other people. The aunty is very kind so we felt like at home. The owners are super friendly and talkative, so we got all essential information from the first hand. We had a fantastic 3 days in the house and wished we could have stayed longer. Will come back again!
Every time you enter the room you smell the damp. There is mold on the wall. Air quality from the bathroom window is even worse because for some reason, which I havn't figured out, it is polluted. The area is safe but not nice. To my surprise, I found the central station's area as much nicer. The small night market just around the corner is not inviting, and has odors of sewage. The breakfast consists of some sweet white fluffy bread or bun with an egg and ham and two small pieces of fruit. I wouldn't call it a healthy or a specially good breakfast. I wouldn't recommand this place and would not stay here again
My husband and I stayed here for a few days during our trip in Taipei. We booked the penthouse room, wasn't very impressed with the value considering the price we paid for the room. The room itself is large with a very big bed. Lighting in the room wasn't great, and not very well kept. It has character for sure, but not bright and spotless. Shower was weird as the water sometimes get cold while you're showering which makes it unpleasant. Mudan House definitely feels like a hostel. We appreciated the reception girl waiting for us to check in late at night, but she was quite unprofessional during our stay. A little incident happened during our stay. Mudan House make you leave your shoes at the reception area. When we were going out one morning my husband couldn't find his flip flops. We told the reception girl, but she did not seem to care. I asked her to help me look for it, to see if maybe another guest have took it. She did not seem willing to help and seemed indifferent. A older Taiwanese lady that worked there was super helpful and concerned when she realized what's going on and helped look for it and finally found it with another guest that was staying there. We feel that the service we received there did not reflect the price we were charged for the room. The place might be ok if you're renting a cheap room and you're expecting a hostel experience. But for the penthouse room, it's terribly bad value. Location of Mudan House is about 10 to 15min walk to MRT. We don't recommend it.…
We stayed at Mudan House for five nights. It's terrific value for money. Sure, our towels didn't get changed, nor our room cleaned - but that didn't really matter. I'm pretty certain that had we asked, we would have been given fresh linen. Important: cleanliness, location, excellent, varied breakfast...Be sure to visit Dihua Street, Bao'an Temple, and...just walk around. There's some cute parks nearby, and some great eats on Yanping.
I stayed here for almost two weeks when I first moved to the city, and the welcome I received from the staff here was just what I needed! The room was clean and had all the basic amenities (though there wasn't wifi in the rooms, only LAN), and the house location was really good, close to the MRT station, and literally steps away from the night market and convenience store. Every day I made sure to get up for the delicious breakfast cooked by Auntie. Every breakfast was different, making sure that guests would not become bored. Everyone at Mudan House was very kind and helpful, and I had a wonderful time here!
I was travelling with my hub and little one. We stayed there for 6 nights (including 2 nights in the Penthouse). The hosts are very friendly and they served delicious home-made breakfast every morning. The double-storey penthouse is awesome and beautifully decorated. It comes with free wifi and a private area with a cosy sofa area and a bar counter. The normal room was equally cosy however, it does not have direct wifi access. (We can occasionally received the wifi from the lobby area). The location is very convenient to both the mrt station as well as the bus-stop. It was very pleasure stay on the overall and we will definitely stay there again for our next visit.
I have stayed there with my friend for a week. Very nice, spacious rooms, each with private bathroom and air-condition. Every morning we got freshly made breakfast. Free internet connection is available in the lobby (you might get signal in some of the rooms too). Just around the corner is a market street with many small restaurants and shops. Metro station is about five minutes’ walk - super convenient! We had a great time! Thanks, Mudan House!
good in every way .... good price, good rooms, nice people, English speaking, good to travel around in Taipei, local marked , which is more like real Taipei, friendly people around and good price .... good choice as our first trip in Asia .... super memory
It was my first trip to Taipei and I stayed in the guesthouse for 5 nights. Location wise, it is extremely convenient,as it only takes a couple minutes walking to the subway station, and it is located in a very lively, somewhat historic neighborhood. The room is also very nice. It's clean, spacious. The bed is big enough and comfortable. I believe every room is different from each other. The staff are extremely friendly. Everyday before I head out or when I get back to the house I always have some chit chat with J. She is so lovely! Oh, not to mention the breakfast, it is exceptional, and aunty makes different breakfast everyday. Really miss it a lot. I will stay in this guesthouse for sure when I go to Taipei next time!
It's my 3rd trip to Taipei and my 3rd stay there in Mudan House as well. The reasons why i would recommend Mudan House are as follows: Location: It is very near to Da Qiao Tou (大桥头) subway station. And this station is only one stop away from Ming Quan West (民权西)subway station. Once you are on this station, you can basically access any main tourist locations like Dan Shui(淡水), Taipei 101, Elephant Hill and Taipei Main Station (台北车站) which links to City Hall, Ximending, LongShan temple, CKS Memorial Hall etc. Another plus point is there is a 1841/1842 coach bus near the guesthouse that send you directly to the airport for departure (which is a plus point for me as i do not want to miss my flight home and pay a premium for transport). And the most important point for me is the authentic nightmarket food around the guest house. I personally find these food much better than those touristy night market. Lastly, i also prefer to stay away from the touristy places like Taipei Main Station and Ximending where touting is common and the safety around Mudan House is definitely better for a foreigner. Room Condition: Love the comfortable and spacious room. If TV is a must for you, you can view English Channels like HBO, Star movie etc. There is also laundry washing machine, towels for changing up at level 3. Service: It's tip top!!! Doris, her aunt and her new staff, Jieun are very helpful in assisting your needs. Not to mentioned, the nice home made breakfast by 姑姑 and the nice chit chat session over breakfast with them and the rest of the guest house travellers. No problem if you prefer to have a quiet breakfast as well as there is a lot of space in the dining area to chill. Conclusion: I personally feel when we travel, a personal and homely touch is important and Mudan House is definitely the place to stay. I will definitely go back again!…
