At Bahia Rica you will be staying in big comfortable rooms in a real jungle setting. The place is perfect for relaxing in a hammock and enjoying the jungle sounds, or you can get some exercise by taking a kayak tour or walking up along the jungle paths. A relaxed atmosphere is surrounding Bahia Rica, with common areas for eating and socializing. Bahia Rica is at Punta Cuchillo on Costa Rica’s west coast. The place is perfect for people who enjoy a calm atmosphere away from the main tourist trails. We offer sport fishing, kayak and boat tours to several beautiful destinations in the Nicoya gulf.

Our group did bioluminescence kayaking, Tortuga Island tour and a full day of inshore fishing with Bahia Rica. Thomas and Vigdis were first class hosts and were always so quick and happy to help us with any questions that we had in preparation for our trip and while we were there. The bioluminescent kayaking was fantastic and a very cool experience. The Tortuga Island tour was even better than advertised. We were able to watch spider monkeys swinging on vines off the side of a cliff and even saw a pod of dolphins on our way out to the island. The lunch on the island was delicious and restaurant quality. The whole experience was incredible and our guides were patient and happy to accommodate our big group and special requests. The inshore fishing trip was also great and Thomas was very helpful and patient in helping my sons to reel in tuna and needlefish. We were able to try various fishing techniques and see a lot of beautiful areas. Thomas was open and accommodating to our preferences and put us on fish throughout the day. I would highly recommend Bahia Rica for any of their offerings. We hope to be able to visit again!

My wife and I stayed one night in the Bambu hut and went on the bioluminescence kayak tour. We give 5 stars to both. Viggis and Tom are wonderful hosts and the breakfast was fantastic. The location couldn't be more beautiful. We are planning to return sometime to try the fishing.

we stayed here for the bioluminescent alge kayak tour. was not disappointed!!! not only was the place be beautiful and teaming with wildlife. but accommodations were very nice. the owners were great too! very welcoming and very helpful. Jose our tour guide was the best. very nice, knowledgeable, and most important very patient. he made us feel completely safe for being novices on a kayak. specially being out in the bay at night. this is really a must see if you are planning a trip to Costa Rica. just make sure the time off the month is right. the darker the better. say hi to wheezy the cat while you are at the beach.

Bahia Rica was absolutely fantastic! My friend and I booked a 3 day all inclusive fishing trip and we were so blown away we immediately booked another 3 day trip. The fishing was amazing! We caught 50 lb Rooster fish, 80 lb Sail fish, 50 lb Dorado, 60 lb Tuna, and many more. The inshore fishing was unreal, so many fish every day. We fishing for so many different species and Thomas our captain knew exactly where to go to target each species. We caught roosters everyday inshore, barracuda, needle fish, grouper, skip jack tuna, and Jack's. It was constant action with a knowledgeable and super friendly guide. Offshore was also amazing! We caught several sailfish in the 80 lb range, lots of nice tuna, a really nice Dorado, and we swam with hundreds of dolphins and manta rays everyday! All the gear we used was excellent and we fished hard every single minute of every day! The lodging and food was also out of this world! We had amazing meals every single day. Sushi and sashimi with truly artistic presentation, and a wide variety of other dishes, all beautifully laid out. Our rooms were super nice and very clean. I was truly staying in a jungle paradise. This was the best trip I've ever taken! I will be back again and again! Tell Thomas and Vikdis that Jered says hi!

We went on the bioluminescence kayak night tour here and it was one of the coolest things I have ever seen! The density of bioluminescence in the bay where the tour take place is so strong and every splash of water creates a massive glow. One of the most interesting parts of the tour is that cameras cannot capture the glow on pictures or video, so it truly is a must do in person experience to be able to appreciate it fully. On top of the beautiful water, the location is pretty remote so the sky is full of thousands of vibrant stars visible during the tour.

Thank you so much for joining our tour! We love that you loved it! The bioluminescence is for sure as you say an "in person experience" - it is amazing to be able to touch the water and "make it sparkle"
