The restaurant cook must have fell asleep at the stove. Poor excuse of dinner at premium pricing is not a way to make a positive first impression, or any impression at all. Restaurant staff were unable to do anything about the quality issues, and apparently were not used to having to deal with feedback, as they completely stopped serving us afterwards. Rooms were average quality, though.
Expected a full service resort during the best tourist season. Unfortunately it was disappointing visit with very slow services. There was one person at reception to take care of the resort; receiption, bar, restaurant, etc. Felt sorry for person at the desk with approx. 10-15 customers waiting and watching on the line. Could not enjoy sauna department as it was under renovation. People love to go to sauna during summer especially on holidays in the resort. Menu is short and the resort takes advantage of its highly priced meals as there are no other restaurants nearby. Lake scene is beautiful. There is a small beach which is full of goose poops.
Rielly friendly staff. Clean contemporary facilities. Sauna included on the price. Big out foors TV screen on therrace. Shop for beer and small food. Deiscounts from Hotel food and gym. Great hiking opportunities. Deers walking by
Last visit was pretty awful 5 years ago. Happy to see a great location getting again the nice hotel it deserves. Nice new rooms and clean ones, service good, front desk a bit slow. But a postivie experience.
Dinner on Saturday was better than expected. Not just the food but the whole surroundings has truly made a step change. The took different starters and they were ok, but needed more flavours. Main courses were the best part.
If you like nature then the surroundings are probably to your liking with lakes, hills and lots of forest. You can swim in the lake during the summer but the small beach is probably better suited for canoeing and stand up paddling. There are quite a lot of activities compared to many other similar Finnish places and there is even a decent two lane bowling alley in the hotel. Unfortunately every activity costs. No free use of the pool table here. This hotel and resort has been around for decades with a number of owners and a troubled financial past including a bankruptcy in 2014. Against this background, it's understandable the current owners are trying to run the place with a minimal crew and it show. Several customers complained that they had to carry the SUP boards from the hotel to the lake and back and that there was no-one renting the boards down by the lake. But this way, one person could handle everything from renting the SUP boards to overseeing the bowling lanes. That said, the staff was friendly and the service good. The rooms where clean and the furniture in good condition. But NO air conditioning. When it's hot and moist in June you don't want to try to sleep in a small room with no air conditioning. We asked for a desk fan or any fan at the reception but they did not have any. Regarding the restaurant we tried both the buffet and the a la carte - the food was ok but expensive and the menu very limited.…
Wonderful environment close to Sastamala, in the middle of the forests and lakes of the Ellivuori Sky center, Highly recommended to enjoying several relaxing days in the nature and doing promenades and physical activity.
Many possibilities to explore Finish nature and old cultural region in the middle Finlan near the city Tampere. Ritajärvi nature park was extreme find with sone strands and walking paths, 20 km north west from Ellivuori.
We had an excellent salad for lunch with really fresh ingredients and some local cheese. The waiter was really attentive and took care that we had everything we needed. The food is a bit expensive but I do appreciate the fact that they use local foods. We didn't stay at the hotel, so this review is only for the restaurant.
I visit Finland each year to take part in shooting competitions. I have stayed here several times and seen it change. The place has now become a resort and I am not sure that it is a hotel, but rather the centre of the resort with rooms . A good restaurant in a truly lovely location . The staff are excellent. The similarity to Alcatraz is that late evening till about 07.45 the ground floor area is locked. This means that the only way out from the bed rooms is to follow the fire escape signs and go through a locked door. Access through the door is by key code. Imagine a fire incident. Tired, worried, dark, forgotten your glasses in the rush, can't see the numbers - doesent bear thinking about. I got used to it BUT it's not a good feeling as you prepare for sleep. The other problem is that my room was not serviced during my entire four day stay. I had difficulty in getting them to replenish my supply of toilet paper. Great shame to be let down like that because it is a lovely place and the staff are so nice.. Meals were very good.…
