First of all, the Catlins is an area not to be missed in the South Island. Curio Bay is a gem, and we cannot think of a better place to stay than the studios at Curio Bay Boutique Accommodation. Our studio was right on a beautiful, long beach, with hardly anyone besides penguins and dolphins. We had the studio on...

The self catering accommodation is on the sand dunes and so has direct access to the stunning beach. During our stay we saw dolphins close to the shore and also penguins. There is no wi-fi and no mobile signal so a place to get away from the world. The classic 'bach' has great views across Curio Bay and has a...

What a place! AMAZING view, you are steps away from the beach. The huge bespoke bed is fantastic! We were privileged and lucky enough to see the Hector dolphins playing in the surf whilst walking on the beach and again from the comfort of the studio. We never heard or seen the penguins which apparently nest under the decking at...

It is hard to describe just how special and wonderful both Curio Bay and the Studio is. The Studio was large, beautifully furnished and equipped and was set right on the beach. The bed was amazingly comfortable and we lay in bed at night with the curtains open just enjoying the sound of the ocean and the noises of the blue...

We had been traveling the south island for two weeks...moving in and out of accommodations and suitcases. We having an amazing trip, but truthfully, we were exhausted both mentally and physically...and then we were lucky enough to arrive at Curio Bay. Curio Bay was stunning in the comfort of the accommodations and the beauty and serenity of this isolated beach...

You walk in the back door. You drop your luggage. Your mouth falls open. Looking through the studio you see the most stunning view of the beach and sea that you've ever seen. You walk through (shoes off) to the front patio and see Hectors Dolphins surfing. You walk down the path through the low dunes and see Little Blue...

We had a few days done at curio bay with our boys, great house, everything you need and amazing view right on the beach, spent hours watching the Dolphins playing and diving infront of us. Would definitely stay here again. Warm house with a fire and great shower

The studio was stunning! All new, beautiful amenities and cosy bed. Left the sliding door open to hear the waves all night and morning as you're right on the beach. Loved the visits from the penguins. The sunrise was incredible to wake up to and we spotted heaps of dolphins from our room and went for a surf with them...

Well appointed self contained studio apartment with fabulous view over Porpoise Bay with large furnished covered terrace. Use of shared laundry. Gorgeous beach walks, swimming with dolphins, watching yellow eyed penguins come ashore, visiting the smallest waterfall in the world at Niagra. All wonderful.

Check in was easy - I followed the information on the email from the owners. This location is very isolated, with stunning views. When we arrived the first thing I noticed, was a fishy smell outside, luckily the couple next door explained this was due nesting blue penguins. If you are very lucky you may see them coming back to...
