Nice and clean hotel. There were lots of different activites for kids and grown-ups. The hotel is in a great location on the shores of Kallavesi. Breakfast was good and tasty. There were no fridge at the room.
The Spa Hotel Kunnonpaikka is a great place to visit and stay in. The only negative expeience we had was related with our recent stay at hoteland with a consequence od becoming exposed to COVID-19. There was an international ski jumping event in the nearby city of Kuopio between 15-18 July 2021 with over 100 participants from several countries who stayed in Kunnonpaikka. As soon as we arrived in hotel and get registered, we noticed that a lot of young groups with country flags on their shell suits in the hotel lobby and in the restaurant. After asking from hotel reception, we found out what kind of event is in question. Regardless of the written announcements of the hotel recommending to use face masks and disinfection of hands, we noticed that some of the young sporty boys and girls do not use face masks neither pay much attention to the announcements placed here and there in the lobby. This issue made us somehow concerned that if someone has COVID-19 infection, it could easily get exposed everyone staying in the hotel. And it also happened. The day after we had left the hotel, we received a message from the hotel that we might have been exposed to COVID-19. We also received warning message from Koronavilkku, the smart phone app. we had uploaded to our mobile phones concerning possible exposement to COVID-19. Of course we went as quickly as possible to COVID-19 test and got luckily got negative result in the following day. However, the expectation of us was that the hotel should have informed us as soon as they knew that they are going to host over 100 international young sport men and women in their hotel and give us possibility to chane our place of stay, if we decided so. Lack of such information exposed us to real risk of being exposed to COVID-19. Many plans of our summer vacation would have changed if we had got positive test results. Not only our plans but also many of our relatives’ and friends’ whom we had met before knowing being exposed to COVID-19 or we had the plan to travel with in the following days. Worst was the attitude of hotel management when we gave them feedback in regard with being exposed to COVID-19 and why hotel didn’t let us know in advance about this risk. The hotel management did not accept that they have done anything wrong or should have informed their customers in advance about the event giving a chance to their customers to possibly change their place of staying.…
The room was nice, had enough space, spa area is great! But there was the rudest service ever at the restaurant (only one person, the man behind the counter). He did not speak at all (I had to do ALL the taking, including stating what we wanted), and would not even give me the receipt (had to reach for it myself). Unbelievably rude.
Air con in room, everything on our room was spotless, nice bed. Room 4/5 because no shower curtain whatsoever, everything got wet. Luckily I was clever enough to save our dry towels before shower. Value only 4/5 because breakfast didn't reach our expectations. Scrambled eggs were soggy and bland, all bread seemed dry, there was no fresh fruit eg pineapple, watermelon sliced, only tangy green apples and perhaps there was a banana or two. We were at breakfast around 7 am just after it opened so everything should've been in order.
Our room was quite outdated especially what it comes to the bathroom (untidy caulkings etc). Also the furnishing in the room was very 90's style. Soundproofing wasn't that great eather. Breakfast was average. Location and parking were ok. The spa was closed at 6pm allready on sunday, which was suprising.
