Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Staying at Lapazul is the best gift you could give yourself if you need to charge your battery again. Up in the jungly hills of Dominical, this place is so tranquil and beautiful, we couldn't recommend it enough. The rooms are big and comfy, the food is absolutely amazing, and the views are one of a kind. You're surrounded by nature and we saw many birds, butterflies, sloths, and frogs. Definitely have to mention the incredibly kind and welcoming staff of Lapazul as well; what a great team! Thank you for such a wonderful stay, we can't wait to return!

This was the best vacation I’ve had in decades. Lapazul is located within easy distance of lots of things to see and do - Manuel Antonio National Park, horseback riding, ziplining, beaches, waterfalls and more. But when we were at the hotel, it felt like the rest of the world had disappeared. The surroundings – forest, grounds, pool, wildlife – are so beautiful and relaxing. Our room was great, and we met interesting guests from around the world. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful; they all felt more like friends by the end of our stay. Patricia and Marek have created a wonderful oasis at Lapazul.

Wow, what can I say? Lapazul and Marek did indeed present a fishing retreat of a lifetime! Three days of tremendous fishing action. First day inshore, catching crevalle jack and red snapper near Quepos. Second day 55 plus miles offshore catching tuna in a sea swarming with thousands of dolphins. One day off to recuperate from all the prior days’ action where we visited breathtaking waterfalls. On the third day, we were treated to a day of non-stop action near Dominical using the Panga boat, the favourite of the Tico locals. Lapazul has hand picked the best boats and guides and it felt like we had been fishing with them for ever. Every boat captain was skilled in their craft and found us the fish to keep us hopping. Although partial to the fishing off Dominical where we were able to experience old style vs new, I will remember the entire trip for the remainder of my life. Top this off with the unbelievable accommodations at the Lapazul resort where the food and stay were first class. Patricia and Marek hit it out of the park. Esteban was great in helping us out with the language and sites, Deiby’s chef skills were amazing, and all the staff treated us like family. Cannot wait to go back!

Our family of 5 came to stay at this hotel and absolutely adored it. All the staff were very accommodating. Steven the manager welcomed us with open arms and showed us our glorious room and took us on an informative walk around the beautiful property. Our room had 2 double beds and a lovely bathroom. The room also contained a balcony which had an amazing view. Next to our balcony was also a sloth called Lola. The inclusive breakfast was filling and had a variety of nutritious and sweet choices. On top of this they had a games room which had many games anyone could play. The view from the infinity pool was breath taking. An experience our family will never forget was when we got stuck at the bottom of the hill which led to the hotel. We got stuck because it had been raining. We called the hotel and we’re happy to help. Gabriel helped us massively and sent down 2 staff members to drive us and our car up the hill. All together this was a magical stay and I recommend this hotel.

We have travelled to Costa Rica many times since 1996 and visited a variety of places along the way. We have now discovered a little bit of Paradise, an eco-friendly, boutique hotel called Lapazul. It is situated in the hills overlooking the Pacific Ocean. From the time you arrive everything that you would wish for is taken care of by the fantastic staff. The accommodation and food is outstanding, there are two infinity pools and a yoga platform. If you enjoy wildlife you will see many kinds of butterflies, birds and animals. This is now our favourite place in Costa Rica. We'll be back!

This was ourfirst trip to Costa Rica and our first stay was at Lapazul, a small boutique hotel with big time charm and services. Lapazul is an hour south of Manuel Antonio National Park and 45 minutes north of Uvita. You would not expect a seven room hotel to have a world class kitchen, an elevated view from the jungle mountains looking out over the Pacific or an infinity pool at your doorstep….. but Lapazul delivered on those and much more. What a treasure this is! General Manager Esteban, was a fabulous host and could not have been more invested in our well being during our stay. He was a joy to chat with and generous with his time. The breakfasts each morning, that were included, were fabulous. Our guest room was luxurious and simple without clutter. Floor to ceiling windows opened onto a private deck that looked down on the pool and out to the ocean. The drive up to the parking was steep, but it did not require a four-wheel drive vehicle, like many Costa Rican jungle resorts do. Dinners options were diverse and delicious. All in all, I could not imagine another trip to the Pacific coast of Costa Rica without a stay at Lapazul. Thank you Esteban and team for a very memorable experience. We’ll be back. Glenn William
