A humble looking abode and people with no airs, is what maks you feel right at home. Gulmit has always enticed me with its simplicity, the glorious views of the grand Passu cathedrals from the balcony of the Inn. The place skirted with generous amounts of roses of a variety of colours, apple, apricot and cherry trees and my eternally memorable takht (wooden bench) under the willow tree. Always been a comfortable place to stay which serves a simple breakfast and meals.
Location - just beside KKH and close to the Hussaini suspension bridge. If you are driving by car, this hotel is ideal than staying in Karimabad as running water is cleaner than the murky mountain water in Karimbad. and if you are into trekking, there are many sites around. Room - Adequate facility. There are plenty of apple trees around and you could help yourself. Staffs - very helpful and friendly. Stunning view of the Passu Cones from the hotel front. What I love about this hotel besides the excellent service was the interior architecture - homely and clean too.
Took my first road to the Northern Areas of Pakistan with a group leaving from Lahore. A bunch of strangers in a magical land. Gulmit was our first stop and a town I never explored before. The Gulmit Story is for another post but I am compelled to write this review for Gulmit Tourist Inn. At first sight I thought to myself "uh-oh". It's not the most impressive of buildings. Ten minutes into our check in and it became apparent how this wasn't merely a hotel we were paying for to explore the area. This was "home". Zafar, the owner, treated us like family. Hid old father told us stories. The little reception area was always full of locals coming in for a casual visit. The entire staff was the sweetest, kindest people ever. Bedroom was spick and span. Towels were brand new. Food was served freshly cooked. The overall hospitality of the people was just mind-boggling. I came back with a heart both filled with pleasure and heavy with the thought of separating. If you are ever in the area make sure you stay here. Oh and they have the neatest suite made in local style that sleeps about 8 people.…
Location of this hotel is perfect. Nearby KKH. The most impressive thing was the view of passu cones from the balcony. Good electricity backup but no WiFi service. Local food was delicious my friends were just love in it. Parking is available and a safe place for all tourist
