We were flying into San Jose in order to get to the Osa Peninsula, so we needed a night's stay into and out of the country. Hotel Buena Vista is perfect if you just need a place to rest your head. It's a lot further...More

The van from the hotel picked us up at the airport. We went through a downtown area and then up a winding road to the hotel. We were taken to our villa behind the hotel. The villa was spacious with a living room, two double...More
The hotel is kept very beautifully, the grounds are just fantastic. I am torn between a three rating and a four. The view is stunning and many rooms have a terrific room, I suggest rooms 24 and 25. On the one hand they have a...More

I am glad these guests enjoyed most aspects of their stay with us. I am sorry the restaurant experience was not up to their expectations. Our cooks try very hard to prepare fresh, flavorful, cuisine. We buy the best ingredients available and our head chef...More
We were so surprised to find this hidden gem!
We just returned from a 10 day trip finishing up at Hotel Buena Vista. We had an outstanding experience, thoroughly enjoying the beautiful rooms and grounds, great food at terrific prices, and remarkable staff.

The staff were wonderful about picking us up at the airport at no additional cost. They also offer all sorts of excursions at very reasonable prices. Poaz is usually a 6 hour tour and costs approximately $120.00 for 2 people. The tour also includes a typical lunch. While we were there, Poaz volcano had just erupted causing some damage to the surrounding area. Therefore, we were not able visit this last time. My hope for you is that the clean-up will have been completed prior to your arrival. Staff at Buena Vista might be able to make a special trip from 2 - 6pm for you. However, I would encourage you to go in the morning, if at all possible. That way, you and your daughter will not be rushed and can enjoy the sights better. Also, the fog tends to roll in during the early afternoon making the volcano less visible.
I hope this was helpful and I wish you and your daughter a lovely Costa Rican holiday:-)
