We loved the mountain attic apartment which was well equipped and bright - lots of morning sun. Beautiful view on the mountain and a lovely terrace. Very private and tranquil surroundings just a few minutes walk from the beach, shops and restaurants.

We stayed in this lovely one bedroom apartment for three nights. It was tucked away down a lane in a central location in La Calera, had a terrace and mountain views, was well appointed with Smeg fridge, toaster and kettle, quality fittings throughout and well equipped. Breakfast on the terrace in the morning was lovely, a real sun trap and watching the sun gone down highlighting the mountain was spectacular. Antje who greeted us was very helpful and spoke good English, with restaurant recommendations, walks etc. I would definitely recommend a stay here and there were a few other apartments to choose from with a garden option. The only thing was parking was tricky ( we used a dirt track at the end of the street) but once you got your bearings there was plenty of free parking near by and it's a short walk up the lane with your bags but don't let this put you off. The beach, shops and local restaurants were on your door step and the whole had a great vibe about it, totally relaxing.

After walking through a narrow lane way lined with plant pots and doorways we found a charmingly decorated apartment with a well designed kitchen and great shower. Outside a wooden bridge led to a private terrace with an outdoor shower looking up at the mountains to the rising sun. A wonderful base for hiking the varied landscape and swimming in the Atlantic waves. They also helpfully sent in advance useful information on transport and hiking routes and we were met by a friendly host with great local tips.

Fantastic apartments close to town and beaches but quiet and peaceful. We had the ground floor apartment with hammocks on the verandah and had a brilliant week. Very comfortable beds and pillows, a good kitchen with Smeg appliances, plenty of room to move around and great private outdoor sitting area with a sun shade if needed. Gloria and Javier were very welcoming. Very definitely recommended.

Caserio de la Playa is a well situated and appointed house in the centre of the most westerly village of Valle Gran Rey. There are four one bedroom apartments attractively decorated and equiped to a high standard (wifi, satalite TV, coffee maker etc.) without being extravagantly equipped. Our beds were very comfortable. Caserio de la Playa is reached down a winding plant filled village alleyway and is situated next to several plots of land, some of which are cultivated or have one or two chickens on them; one or two are untidy uncultivated plots. One of the two ground floor apartments (La Celera) has less privacy for eating outside as it uses space adjacent to the attractive communal sitting area. The two upstairs apartments have a small balcony but one (La Playa) while having a view of the sea looks over the uncultivated plots and the rather unattractive backs of the shops and a restaurant in the village street. The apartments are serviced mid-week and have a very welcoming and helpful (non-resident) manager who is always on call. Shops, restaurants, bars, the beach are all very close. No car parking immediately next to the apartments but it is easy to park two minutes away. The apartments are very quiet. Overall an excellent location, high quality apartments making a charming, slightly querky place to stay.
