Stayed here for 5 nights and loved it. The hostel is set in beautiful hills and is run by great staff who cook amazing food. The hikes offered by the hostel (to a sunset point and to a lagoon) are great too. Would definitely visit again!
If you need a break from urban horns and would like to hear a real dawn chorus then this is the place for you. You’ll see and hear birds like the great barbet, the white crested laughing thrush, the Himalayan bulbul and many more. Hots hostel is super cool and relaxed with great food and chai. I had an amazing time there going on different adventures with Anuket, Vivek and Manish. Once I got there I didn’t want to leave, it was paradise.
I am a hotel management student in delhi... I really have a very busy life and wanted a get away from that rush and i expected it to be a bit peaceful in the womb of nature and it was much more than that it. The location is really peaceful and and its a beauty. Though the food on the day we reached wasnt that good but after their chef it was also ok and here ypu will have a lot of places to vist and explore and the staff was really great as well as helpfull. And the campfire which happens everyday is also really peaceful.
People who run the hostel are chill and good people. I enjoyed hanging out with the staff late into the night. When I arrived, there were several different groups but I initially thought it was one big inviting group. Had a good time with them as well - felt like part of the group . I only stayed one night because I had plans but could have stayed longer if I had known how nice the place was. The views were great and the little trekking I did was really good.
A perfect chill-out place, if you are travelling solo or with friends, it doesn't matter. If you want to take a flavour of a remote unexplored village if you want to know a Kumauni village, its people, the plethora of beauty it offers, this is your place. The hosts are really cool to hang-out. I saw people who are coming to HOT's in a regular interval. it has a great magnetic vives. I really liked the group-lagoon in the rivulet, in the rain. This hostel is quite remote, up above the hill. But again, reaching there is a kind of experience you might like. But if you are visiting with your family just to cut down your budget, this place is not for you. Jeolikote is well connected with Nainital and Haldwani. So, public transport is not a problem. But, it is advisable for anyone come back to the hostel before dark. Lastly, I really miss three friends I met there. Shanti, Chilu and Bubu. Bubu ka haat ka khana... just wow! It will be excellent if HOT's can open more hostels like this all around Uttarakhand. please do visit here.…
The path that leads to the hostel is in itself an adventure and unique concept. One's experience or exploration of nature and serenity begins then and there. I was traveling solo and just booked it a day before arriving based on amazing reviews online, which proved to be totally worth it. Their hospitality and food be the best, even got a couple of recepies from uncle. The founder, another young guy "Shurya" who was taking care of most of the things there, were too friendly and made guests feel more at home rather than with a formal hospitality. Dorms and rooms were very well planned, grafitti everywhere around the property was the best thing that captured my attention. Bathrooms were very clean and maintianed really well(which were one of my concerns in hostels). A bit of dusting the rooms regularly is required, otherwise its completely hygenic. The walks around the property was amazing and totally safe. The place is too good for all kind of youth travellers in specific, may it be groups, solo, domestic, international, adventurers, nature enthusiasts etc etc. Add ons - such as books, volleyball court, excursions are all surely great which i couldnt explore much as i was travelling alone. Looking forward for other properties of theirs to open up to visit them sooner with a bigger group this time!!!…
We had a wonderful three nights in the Hostel. You have many things to do from hiking, playing volleyball or making trips to places nearby. If you just need a place to lean back for a few days you can also just enjoy good food, clean water and comfortable roooms or dorms. The Staff is really friendly, willing to help out and also nice to hang out with. Thanks!
This hostel is just great. Friendly laid back atmosphere. GREAT friendly staff. And location is awesome if you are planing to relax and do some short day walks around the hills and the jungle. You would only want to stay longer here.
The walk to the hostel is a hike for about 600 meters through the jungle . The hike itself is a wonderful opportunity to explore the flora of Himalayas and is definitely a rarified experience. Hostel is a renovated from the old British buildings. This hostel strictly keeps the vibe of the place up by keeping it exclusive to travelling tribe . The hostel also has private rooms along with the dorms . I only had a plan of staying for a day but the ambience and the management of the place made me feel like staying for a day more . The hostel also has organic farming and offer free breakfast which is cooked majorly from the vegetables grown in the same premises . It’s a must visit hostel for a new experience.
The perfect getaway, with friendly hosts and nature, the stay was relaxing and had a grand time there in peace. Surrounded by mountains, the greenery, the ducks and homemade food. I stayed 3 nights, 4 days. My expression after getting there was, I am never going back to reality, the place was like a surreal dream.
