Welcome to 1 Royal Street Guesthouse, a unique and charming boutique guesthouse nestled in the heart of Riebeek Kasteel, one of the oldest and most historic towns in South Africa. Located at the foot of the majestic Kasteelberg mountain in the stunning Swartland region, our guesthouse is housed in a beautifully restored old Victorian house. As you enter our guesthouse, you will be greeted by two concrete Dachshunds, which represent a part of our family history and love for animals. We have collected numerous art works and items from our travels, which are on display throughout the guesthouse. We hope that you will appreciate them as much as we have enjoyed collecting them. Our guesthouse was founded on the dream of creating an exceptional stay experience for our guests in this charming village. Ash & Antonio's love of art and wine in the idyllic Riebeek Valley has inspired the concept and design of our guesthouse. We are proud to offer our guests a convenient location, only a 30-second walk from the vibrant village center. You can easily explore the local shops, cafes, and restaurants, or take a stroll through the picturesque streets of Riebeek Kasteel. At 1 Royal Street Guesthouse, we strive to provide a memorable and personalized experience for our guests. We invite you to come and stay with us and immerse yourself in the beauty and history of Riebeek Kasteel, and create unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.

I visited the guesthouse for my birthday and had such an amazing time. The host Antonio offers personalised services. He pays attention to detail and strives to make all guests feel at home. On my arrival he showed me around the establishment. The art collected by the two hosts is alluring and magical. The hotel has beautiful art pieces in every corner, if you’re an art lover this is definitely a place to visit.
I booked the garden room and all the fixtures and fittings are luxurious. The bed is adorned with beautiful crisp white Egyptain linen with a throw to keep one warm on a cold winters night. The room has easy access to the garden and pool. It offers a serene escape from the busy city life.
The communal area has a library filled with books to keep an avid reader entertained. Moreover, cherry is made readily available for guests who want to drink while they read. The guest house is centrally located. It’s within walking distance to all the quaint restaurants, shops and museums. You can cycle or walk around the small town easily. It’s close to the church, Small Street and the Royal hotel.
If the is one thing that made my stay, it was the three course breakfast. Antonio baked croissants for all guests in the morning. This was paired with local cheese, cold meat and homemade preservatives that the host made himself. Many of the ingredients are sourced from local farms. This shows unity amongst the locals in town. Ubuntu!
The hotel is homey yet luxurious. It is inviting and makes one feel special. Antonio and Ash have created their own heaven on earth by this guesthouse and I appreciate they have allowed us their guests to enjoy such fine experiences.
Thank you once again Antonio for being such a remarkable host and making my stay phenomenal : - ) . I can’t wait to come back

A beautiful little house in the garden with fantastic art everywhere. Both inside and out. A lovely swimming pool with several seats.
And a truly unbeatable breakfast! It is served in the manor house at a beautifully laid table with special art everywhere. Antonio and Bartolomeus serve three courses together: fresh fruit, homemade jams, granola, pancakes. Totally awesome!
Riebeek Kasteel is a fairly undiscovered town with lots of nice and cozy restaurants and shops.

An unforgettable stay at this charming B&B in Riebeek Kasteel! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth by hosts Ashley and Antonio, whose knowledge of the town enhanced our experience. The rooms were not only spotlessly clean and incredibly comfy, but the captivating art and decor added an extra touch of magic to our stay. And let's not forget Bartholomew, whose friendly assistance made our mornings even brighter. Oh, and the breakfasts? Absolutely scrumptious, prepared by Antonio with care and attention to flavour! We can't recommend this place highly enough. A true gem in every sense!!

We stayed two nights in this absolutely beautiful, elegant house. Everything was just perfect, from the welcoming letter in the room (including ‘paw signatures’ of the two lovely dogs, how creative!) to the tastefully decorated rooms, full of art and design features. Antonio is the loveliest, caring host, preparing the most delicious breakfasts, served on exquisite porcelain and with so much eye for detail, that we kept on being amazed and delighted. Thank you o much Antonio, for a wonderful stay!

A delightfully furnished guesthouse, everything is top quality. Owner Antonio provides a fabulous welcome, and makes you feel immediately at home. There are lovely thoughtful touches everywhere, from the Sherry at the door, the personalised welcome note in the form of a scroll, chocolates on the pillows, home baked rusks and freshly ground coffee when you wake up. The breakfast was a three course feast, with delicious home made jams, home backed croissants, etc. This is a treasure, we will definitely be back there. One of the very best places I have stayed at in my many years of travel. And its within a 2 minute walk of a whole bunch of places to visit or eat at. Go on, try it, you will not regret booking this gem of a place. Ivan van Niekerk

One Royal Street Guesthouse is central in Riebeek Kasteel, just around the corner from the Royal Hotel. This historic house is beautifully restored and has no equal in the area. The decor throughout the property is tasteful, and the rooms are large and well-equipped with luxurious en-suite bathrooms.
The hosts are amicable and go out of their way to make you feel at home. My wife and I will return without a doubt, as this is a luxury without breaking the bank.

We felt totally spoilt ! Stepping into this gorgeous space was a treat for the senses! Ash and Antonio have given such thought to every detail about their Guesthouse. The bespoke elegant decor and artwork, the spacious Garden Suite, the generous well appointed bathroom ... I could go on and on. Our every need was catered for ... including lending me a phone charger as I left mine at home ! Our hosts were enthusiastic about sharing information regarding their beloved Riebeek Valley and were absolutely spot on with some of the suggestions we followed. The continental breakfast was a delight ... with almost everything being sourced locally. In short, we will most definitely be back to experience the warm hospitality in truly luxurious surroundings. Thank you Ash and Antonio !
