We were lucky enough to be bought a voucher and we opted to stay here. We had a really fabulous time. It just so happened our stay coincided with the music festival. We were delighted with our accommodation - we stayed in the Auchenbrack Room, which is situated at the front of the hotel. The room was really lovely, two...

This hotel has had great reviews, I now know they are all well deserved. We stayed 2 nights in the Queensferry a deluxe room with fantastic bathroom. Food both evenings were very good and the wine list good for a rural hotel. A great deal of money has been spent on this hotel, but without the exceptional young staff this...

We stayed in the room at the top of the stairs and I honestly couldn't fault our stay one bit!!! From the welcoming room service the next morning to the cheerful good bye on departure!! Many, many years ago my wife and I used to spend a night or two here each year while down fishing on the Nith. In those days the hotel, while friendly, was a typically tired small town Scottish hotel suffering as the nation took it's holidays in the sun abroad. Last year friends were staying there and suggested we join...

We were at Burns Supper in an upstairs function room. The room was set out beautifully and looked very welcoming. The meal was delicious and well presented. The staff were efficient and helpful. One lady had dietary needs and the manager made sure she was given a meal to her satisfaction. In all it was an excellent evening. I would...

Could be a really good place to eat if the menu was more varied. Only ever one vegetarian option- alternating between goat's cheese on puff pastry, cheese on toast or risotto balls the size of a small starter. What about a hearty bowl of risotto or adzuki bean chilli? Please no mushroom stroganoff or pasta penne though! Please make the...

We had a pleasant meal for 4 in the dining area off the bar. The decor is nice. This is not fine dining though. Staff very pleasant and efficient. Food was nice but be careful as any vegetables or potatoes are extra. 3 glasses of basic white wine was £20.25 and a bottle of the same was £20. Just felt...

My wife and I drove over the border from Carlisle on Saturday, intending to visit Dumfries House. However, the blizzard conditions on the roads were such that a change of plan was called for. We headed off the motorway and ended up in Thornhill, a pleasant market town, where we decided on a lunch at the Buccleuch and Queensberry Hotel,...
