There was no decent entertainment. The pool is very dangerous (slippery while entering) All but one restaurant was closed on a Friday night and their menu was horrible. I have to give kudos to the staff. They did try very hard to keep people happy.

I'll start with the positive - The people. The staff go out of their way to be accommodating and are just so pleasant and fun. We all know that this is a refurbished hotel. I think they would have been better off to do a complete demo rather than trying to mix the old and the new. It just looks halfway done. Food - meh...we rented a car and explored the island as we had been to the island before so we knew what to do.... Also be hyper aware of how slippery the pool is - we witnessed multiple falls. (not drink related) If you are looking for a luxury type of property, this is not it. If you use it as a jumping off point just to sleep - all is well.

After a long wait due to Covid we were finally able to visit the Secrets resort in St. Martin, and it was worth the wait! The resort is not as luxurious as some, but beautiful, and situated in a gorgeous bay on the island. Our room was clean and very comfortable, and housekeeping and the mini bar were serviced daily. We enjoyed the large sparkling blue pool as well as the beach. But the highlight of the trip was the staff!! Everyone from the entertainment team to the bartenders to the restaurant staff made us feel like VIPs! You could tell they were so glad to have guests at the resort after a long period of shutdown. We joined the hike with Margarita, which gave us awesome views and a great workout. We played pool volleyball with Yvan, who is lots of fun, and Rolinda and Brenton kept us smiling with their great attitudes and yummy drinks from the pool bar :) Shout out to Claude who took care of our special requests with a warm smile. Since they are at pretty low capacity there are only two restaurants open per night, but the food is fabulous and we never had to wait for a table. The resort still needs some work, the hot tub is not fully working and landscaping is lacking, but overall the experience was wonderful!

Someone may think that this is harsh, but more was expected from a Secrets resort. I’ve stayed at many resorts and you expect certain things. First walking on to the property and not see immaculate grounds was different. The room was clean and comfortable, but getting washcloths and hand towels daily didn’t happen. The beach area is small because of the resort being in a bay so not much room for beach walking. I was able to see stingrays and sea turtle snorkeling. Their is a gym, no music. The resort did have a couple of hikes during the week. Breakfast is the only buffet, wish lunch was the same. For a quick lunch, the Barefoot Grill is your best choice. We used the Olio restaurant once, it took a couple of hours. A couple of different restaurants are open at night with very good food. The Italian restaurant, Portofino, is average. The food service was the most disappointing. Orders would be forgotten or brought to the table wrong. You could run out of something to drink while eating and no one checked on the table. Brenton at the Manatees pool bar was friendly and very good. No one was checking around the pool or beach areas for drinks. We used the AmStar service for a couple of excursions, an island tour and the Loterie Farm. We used the spa service for a 80 minute massage. Probably the best massage I have ever had. Hopefully the service gets better with more time. I’m sure the COVID-19 is not helping.

We are preferred club members and stayed in a swim up room at the resort. Although the staff at the office was welcoming and professional, It took 3 times and a couple of days to get toiletries, more snacks and liquor sent to our suite. The entire staff was friendly, helpful, and nice! A few suggestions: a newsletter delivered to the room (we never knew what restaurants were open, entertainment as well as turndown service nightly, provide snacks at the preferred club lounge, ice machines need to be provided, the hot tub was not working, and the resort needs to be sprayed for ants, flies and mosquitoes. Overall, it is a beautiful location , a nice resort and would try it again sometime after covid.
