First the good... the property is really quite lovely, with hammocks, beautiful views, and a nice outdoor dining area. The staff was also friendly and attentive. With that said, the lodge lacked many of the basic comforts that make a stay enjoyable. There was no air conditioning, no hot water, and no internet. The rooms also had windows that remained...

After a long drive, we were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves in a very special place. Beautifully decorated, rustic but very stylish, we relaxed with a drink on the beautiful outdoor terrace. Dinner (Steak Asado) was prepared by the owner himself and it was delicious. We were warmly welcomed and regretted that we could only stay for one night.

The pictures don't do this place justice and neither does having "hostal" in the name. I am a fairly picky traveler and highly recommend this eco-lodge. My friend and I stayed here during a week in Nicaragua and it was by far the best place we stayed. The owners of the eco-lodge were very attentive and the food (included) was...

I stayed here for two nights, arriving the first night after a long drive from Bosawas. I enjoyed the walk through the labeled trees before hanging out in the hammocks while the owners prepared our wonderful dinner. My guide and I left before dawn to hike up the Cosiguina volcano. In the afternoon we swam at Playa Jiquilillo. Looking at...

Here you can just relax, watch nature, make long walks through this lovely reserve. The owner, studied in the UK so speaks very well English and he even is a very good host and cook. Makes his own furniture from the wood from his land and all the paintings on the wall are also from him. We were due to...

Cabanas are sweet and comfortable, and so are the hammocks! Lots of spots to relax and take in all the beauty that this nature reserve has to offer. I especially liked the added touch to the hiking trail -- there are inspiring quotes about nature posted throughout, as well many of the trees are labelled with their botanical names. The...

We spent two days at Hato Nuevo. The food is excellent Nica style dishes served in a very beautiful, relaxing outdoor dining area. The host is very welcoming and speaks excellent english. The host can also arrange trips to local attractions such as Coniguina volcano. I would recommend this to any wildlife nature lovers. We saw a wide amount of...

Fantastic stay and thoroughly knowledgeable, professional guides for related activities. During our honeymoon we happened upon the opportunity to stay here; we are both especially happy we did. The room and bathroom were clean and stately, yet provincial. The house and grounds are already impressive and are undergoing substantial improvement/enlargement. We especially enjoyed our discussions with the staff and were...

we stayed 3 nights, and still had not seen all the lovely details with which the house and rooms as well as the large garden are decorated. It feels a bit like visiting a friend, since the owner will talk to you and answer any question you might have about county an people. The staff is super friendly and goes...
