I stayed here for two nights while attending the Hawkesbury Upton Literature Festival. When I told locals where I was saying, reactions were interesting, and Fawlty Towers was mentioned a number of times, though people always ended by saying, 'The food's good, though.' Well, the Fawlty aspersions are misplaced. I would describe mein host in the same words as I'd...

We arrived unannounced very late at 3pm as the chef was leaving, but the most engaging and friendly owner found a staff member to cook an excellent lunch of Chicken Fajitas. Such flexibility when a kitchen has just shut down is very rare indeed! The owner proved very friendly and we had a great chat while we ate an excellent...

I have been here many times, and this is by far the best in the area for roast dinners, there steak and Stilton sauce is to die for, highly recommend, in the summer you have the enjoyment of there big beer garden (ideal for the kids) and come wither you have a open wood burner. Perfect! Brett

When you stay for this length of time you get to see a place faults and all. My experience is very very few faults, loved it, Been well looked after with flexibility, good food, well kept beer and a chef who is up for a challenge. The bar has an open log fire with tables as well as a restaurant...

Returned after 20 years to celebrate my husbands birthday. Lots changed of course including the owners, who were very friendly and welcoming. Clean and comfortable room, food both breakfast and evening very good and to a high standard. Would definitely recommend.

Really lovely place to stay. Clean and spacious. Rooms are a good size. The bath in our room was huge! Staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were spot on, every morning. We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely return. Although they would need to get a TV in the bar, as the other half wasn't happy to...

Can't really say much bad but can't really say a lot much better other than average. The reception upon arrival was ok but not much dialogue, and the waiter which I believe was the owner also appeared fairly unmotivated. OK food in the evening but the breakfast was awful, being totally dry. see picture. Ok but could be so much...

Took the family for Thursday steak night, Food was excellent with all steaks prepared exactly as ordered, family agreed it was a delicious meal. Lovely open fire burning on a cold winter night to create a welcome homely atmosphere.

Stayed for one night for a trip to Bath. Lovely property with character, warm and cosy look from the outside. Lovely room comfortable, warm and spacious and a view over many fields. Quiet at night. Breakfast was good too.

We stayed for just one night at the Bodkin House Hotel and really enjoyed it. We went with friends and had adjoining rooms, both of which were really spacious, spotlessly clean and very well appointed. They were overlooking the road and there was a little traffic noise but the windows are double glazed and cut out a lot of it....
