We have never had a bad experience at XPM which is why we book multiple trips here annually when we can. The service was wonderful as always and we try to take care of the team as much as they take care of us. Highly recommend this location - we were worried about the weather but it turned out to be fantastic, even with the few rain showers that happened.

Hotel's Favourite
Another fantastic trip to our FAVORITE all-inclusive! This was our 8th trip to EPM and it was all we had hoped for after we missed last year. So why do we keep coming back to the same resort, when there are so many others out there? In a word… service. The service is phenomenal at EPM and the people who work there are all stars in the industry. To mention just a few, Vilma made our check-in great and was able to assist with a room request we had made before arrival. Erick and Andrea were our concierges and did a great job making sure we had everything we needed. Make it a point to get to know your concierge and they will absolutely take care of you. Erick and Andrea helped us with our room requests, set us up with a wine tasting, and made sure every night at dinner was special. At the Cielo bar, Martha did a fantastic job keeping everyone properly hydrated. At the Martini Bar, Cesar is a rock star. He’s always busy, but will take the time to get to know you and come up with a craft creation for you. I love watching him work because he’s truly great at his job. Finally, Abraham gave us a fantastic wine tasting and helped us with a pairing at Chez. The splurge was well worth it! So, I know the internet is chock full of great reviews (for good reason), so I’ll end with some info on arrival that I’ve started keeping track of. If you’re wondering how long it takes from wheels down in Cancun, to hearing “welcome home”, here was our experience last week: We landed at 11:33 and arrived at our gate at 11:47 (Terminal 4). We were off the plane at 11:53, at immigration at 11:56 and through immigration at 11:59 (yes, that was awesome!). We got our luggage at 12:10, made it to our transfer at 12:15 and left for the resort at 12:22. We got to the first gate at 12:52 and walked through the front doors at 1:13 (there were several cars ahead of us at the gate). All in all it was a great trip and we already booked for next year!

Last day of our trip and EPM was excellent as always. Great service, great food, great drinks, and great fun. We specifically need to thank Marlon and Antonio at the excellence club pool and beach. Their special touches and attentiveness had us wanting for nothing. Anselma, Virgilio, and Florocel did a perfect job keeping us happy by our room and swim up and Nelson made sure we had several special dinners. This was our 7th (or maybe 8th... too much Tequila) time here and we will be back again for sure. Thanks again to the staff that make this place so welcoming and if you are considering an all inclusive in Cancun, I can't recommend EPM enough!!!

I've been to many Cancun resorts (see my other reviews) and generally go to Adults Only higher end all-inclusives. I waited a bit to try it because you can't book it as a package and the friction of figuring out things individually felt high initially. It isn't (Cancun Shuttle is great for transportation, everything else through expedia). The great: The property was amazing. We had the jr suite resort room view which I believe is the cheapest room available (and also the only one, I normally would spring for a nicer room), and even though it was the "low" end room, it was unbelievable. Incredible balcony with a beach bed on it and an indoor/outdoor hotub you could use from your room or balcony (two openings). Very nice bathroom, very soft, large bed, huge sectional, and nice couch). They had full bottles of alcohol in the room (not that I think this is necessary) plenty of water, and a few dry snacks. The food here is absolutely top notch. My wife is Indian and we traveled with an Indian company, and Basmati had nicer food than any of the Indian restaurants near where we live (which is outside Chicago and we've probably been to 20+ different places). I was extremely impressed by it. I also loved the chicken terryiaki made for me at spice (off menu), and thought the food at Agave was excellent. The Italian at Tuscano was nothing special (group opinion in general) but none of us are big Italian fans. We tried the brick-oven pizzas (standard for what they were), lobster, the grille, and a beach grill for lunch and found all of the places to be good to great relative to what they were serving. The beach was nice, it was a legit, long, beach with tons and tons of room on it, soft sand, we went in the water some, and it was perfect for long walks. It's not a hotel zone style area where you are jammed near other resorts. IT's probably a half mile to walk to the closest one. Overall, the main pool area where the action was had some crowds, and you needed to reserve some chairs there early if you wanted to be near the action. Otherwise though, there was a ton of other pools that were more quiet and had tons of chairs. If you wanted to relax it was very easy to find a beautiful spot to do so and no need to worry about finding one at any time. If you wanted to be by everyone else, you didn't really need a chair, so the reserving one was often just too throw your stuff down. The one day we came late around 1pm we just tossed our stuff between a few chairs and it was also fine. Great app that you download that had all menus on it and all information and a hotel map. Made it super easy to find everything each day and get all the info you need and be able to pick your restaurants. Loved it, hope every place has this now. Gym was really nice, I used it twice. They had a really nice Keiser spin bike (only one) which I used with the Peloton app on my phone, and then did free weights the next day. Good combination of equipment and lots of choices. I would say they could probably turn the AC up on the gym a bit as it was pretty warm. Also nice that they didn't waste 15 minutes of our time like Secrets does trying to sell you time shares when you first walk in and make you listen to some speil and try to get you to go on some other longer info session. They had your typical array of events by the entertainment team. My wife did Yoga (thought it was excellent), I did volleyball and we did the kayak tour together. The shows each night were good quality (typical of other resorts I have been to). The silent disco was absolutely the best night and an absolute blast. Needs improvement: I didn't ding any stars for these things because relative to the above they aren't important, but are areas the hotel could do better at. Resort felt understafffed. This may be due to COVID, we actually spoke with the manager and they said they were at full staff but protocols took a lot of time. I think this is partially true, but at some of the bars they could just have more bartenders, they had 2 at the swim up, other places I've been to had 3. The breakfast was always frustrating at the buffet because the line to get 2 sausage links was the same as for people making omlettes and moved slowly. Some stuff that shouldn't take a long time got bunched in with stuff that does. I felt it was higher friction than need be, but likely when protocols change this will no longer be an issue and is temporary. We tried to book a Hibachi table the morning after we arrived at 7am and they were already 100% booked for our entire vacation. It's not the end of the world, but I usually enjoy doing Hibachi one night when there is a choice and it was pretty poor that it wasn't even an option for us because we were only here five days and all tables were booked. Your experience may or may not vary there, but if you do want Hibachi go straight from check in to booking it. We also couldn't get into Spice our 1st night we tried (1 hour wait) which was just kind of a bummer, but what can you do, we had no problems the next day. If you go to any restaurants 6:30 or earlier it seems your odds are better, if you get to 7:30ish they seem harder despite what the app tells you. Dancing/Music: This is something I feel almost every Cancun resort screws up - The people coming to the resort will almost always respond best to Wedding style dance music, basically pop/top hits/ nostalgic songs etc. They don't need hard core dance club music when dancing, spanish music they don't know should be mixed in moderation and only with the really popular tunes, they had a couple bands come play, and the people were talented, but the set lists were really weird. There should be a place every day to dance to this type of music inside with some AC. The closest they came to having this was the silent disco which had enough of the right music, but dancing was outside, and you were a complete sweaty mess dancing outside, mostly in long pants because you have to dress that way for dinner, in 80+ degree weather. I don't know why every resort screws this up, but most places I've been to don't have much dancing it is either due to lack of options or because they try to replicate a dance club instead of wedding. The crowd here is occasional partiers not hard core dancers. This might be different depending what type of crowd you are trying to attract of course, but the high end adults only is generally successful middle agers, not 20 year olds trying to hook up. Finally, again, a problem with almost every all inclusive I go to, why do you have a dress code for pants? This is a beach vacation with tons of outdoor activities in 80+ degree weather. It's hot, and most guys I know would prefer to wear dress shorts than pants. Of the places I've been, only the Hard Rock had a generally shorts everywhere policy. All in all, this was an outstanding resort though. The things that were problems for me are problems at almost every resort I've been to, the things that were great really stood out about this resort. Generally we don't go back to the same resort twice, but I would consider coming back here again and if not, hitting up one of the other Excellence properties is definitely on the to do list for our next trip back to Cancun.

We stay here for 9 nights. Our only disappointment was that we wanted to eat at every restaurant (including room service). This meant we could not repeat dinner at any one place. But they were all excellent! The service is top notch, resort is well maintained, and the room was wonderful. If you like to run, there is a nice trail just outside of the gate that is perfect. No traffic and safe from stray dogs. You just have to watch for all the iguanas!
