We stayed for 3 nights at Posada de San Marco recently. We were travelling in Andalucia and this was one of two country stays. Our goals were to experience the Andalucian countryside and to do some medium-level walking. Both goals were achieved along with many other wonderful experiences. Lucy and Angel are brilliant hosts- they go way beyond the call...

We spent 4 nights over New Year at this casa rural in the pretty village of Alájar. The hotel only has 6 rooms, which are fairly basic but comfortable. Most have access to a south-facing terrace with views over the garden and pool, though this remained unused in December! Our hosts, Angel, Lucy and daughter Sophia extended a very warm...

Thanks for choosing us and La Posada de San Marcos to bring in the New Year! We enjoyed having you to stay and glad that the pre-dinner jamón carving and tasting went down well! The weather was well suited for walks and picnics during your stay and as you say they are many and varied walks - plenty more for...

Hola Shar0n, Thank you for choosing us and La Posada de San Marcos to bring in the New Year. It was lovely to meet you both too. Keeping warm on the chilly nights in our area is a must for us and the comfort of the underflloor heating can't be beaten especially knowing that our heating is produced by ground...

Booked into Posada st Marcos for a quiet , relaxing New Years break. What a find. Only 6 bedrooms, and set in a very pretty village which had several typical Spanish restaurants, little shops, and the most amazing countryside for walking. Our hosts were exceedingly kind, and nothing was too much trouble for them. Lucy is a trained chef and...

Hola Annette C, Thank you for choosing us and La Posada de San Marcos to bring in the New Year! Cava and grapes have been a tradition for the well off in Spain since the 19th century although aparently due to an excessive crop in Alicante in 1909 it expanded to the masses! We enjoyed getting to know you over...

My wife and I have just spent an excellent New Year at La Posada de San Marcos, where we have been treated to an enjoyable and very Spanish 4 days in the Andalucian countryside. Our hosts, Angel and Lucy (and Sophie) have created a lovely, eco-positive hotel in a very small village around 100km north east of Seville - wherein...

Lush vegetation , lots of wildflowers but the same friendly laid back atmosphere of the rest of Spain. The hosts Lucy and Angel provide excellent excellent guides to local walks, local restaurants and interesting historical locations. We really enjoyed our stay.

The best part was the friendly, helpful and welcoming atmosphere created by Lucy and Angel who were also fun to stay with. Comfortable beds, good rooms opening out onto a terrace, plenty of hot water and lovely underfloor heating. There is a great sitting area with comfortable sofas and an honesty bar with tea/coffee making facilities and plenty of sherry...

The high standards of hospitality and comfort are maintained. La Posada de San Marcos continues to be our favourite place in Spain to go to sleep well, eat well, walk and relax. On the nights when Lucy is not cooking we always enjoy Las Palomitas.

At La Posada de San Marcos the only sound you will hear is the breeze in the cork oak trees, the babbling of the stream, birdsong and crickets. The view towards the oak clad hill behind us or towards the village and the Peña beyond provide the perfect backdrop from your room terrace or the gardens. The perfect opportunity to experience an environmentally friendly, energy efficient hotel with a superior level of accommodation and disabled access. Relax in our garden and if it gets too warm plunge into our 12 metre pool to cool off or take some exercise.Or alternatively you can stay at our sister hotel La Posada de Alájar, a renovated inn dating from the 18th Century where you are surrounded by the history of its walls and chestnut beamed ceilings.
