We had a superb stay at Island Plantation, Juan and all staff always greeted us with a smile. The poolside room is wonderful, large and comes with 2 seating areas, in front on the poolside and back at the garden side (last one closed with screens). The outdoor shower is the best we’ve had, strong pressure and hot stable temperature. The room is huge and has a big drink water container, there are no bugs at all.
The breakfast on the beach is superb, big, choice of warm food and fruit/breads and the kitchen staff really nice. They let us have breakfast earlier one day because we were diving in the morning.
Pool water is perfect temperature and we got pool towels every day and our room made daily.
The pizza’s and cocktails at BomBom restaurant are delicious!
We had the pleasure to also meet the owners, who are very kind and hospitable too. We recommend Island Plantation to everyone!

This is a Bali style hotel with lush gardens in an out of the way quiet location on Bluff beach. The beach is not swimmable but the crashing waves were nice to watch. You can hear the sound of the waves at night. There is a peaceful deep swimming pool. The road to reach the hotel is currently in bad shape so it is a bit of a bumpy ride to town. Taxis run about $15 one way and $20 after 8 pm to go to town or to restaurants midway between the hotel and town. The hotel has a casual beach restaurant. We thought the food was ok but not great. The rooms are partially open air and do not have air conditioning. It does cool down a bit at night but the bed felt damp and to be honest it wasn’t our best rest. We did find the room layout very nice and appreciated the sitting area. The owner is friendly. I think for adults this is the best option on Isla Colon and for us the location away from Bocas Town was a bonus.

Island Plantation is a bit of heaven. Bluff Beach is golden sand, clean and idyllic. The hotel rooms are big, airy and very comfortable with huge king beds, fresh flowers, canopies and at least 2 outdoor spaces if not 3. The pool is super clean and warm. Breakfast at Bom Bom beach bar is an incredible way to start your day having coffee and made to order breakfast while watching the ocean. Herolf and Chris have made this hotel a beautiful relaxing experience.2

Seriously perfection. Greeted immediately by the sweet manager Chaco who eased us into the experience. The property is zen like and well tended. The pool and lounge areas are gorgeous. The room was stunning-canopy bed, artisan furniture, everything you need down to rainbow umbrellas for afternoon rain spells. Then you have the idyllic beach 20 meters in front of you with their restaurant serving you exactly what you need. We will be coming back again soon to relax and recharge. Thank you Island Plantation for giving us the perfect vacation!

Island Plantation feels like a Bali style bit of tranquillity away from the mad hustle and bustle of Bocas town. The road to get there is not for the faint-hearted (currently being worked on), but once you are there, almost instantly does the magic of the place start to seep into your soul. Hummingbirds, monkeys, and the sound of the roaring surf add to the ambience, as does the occasional massive thunderstorm. Bombom beach bar (across the road) serves good food, and the pizza from the authentic Italian pizza oven is fabulous. Juan Carlos and Herolf make you feel that you are at home instantly, and the service is personable with every attention to detail. Beautifully designed rooms and a lovely pool area completes a perfect sea side getaway.

A gem hidden in the forest. The fantastic hosts have created a sustainable environment mething that looks like the garden of Eden. The garden is a shell to the sober yet lush rooms. The showers are fantastic. And the restaurant at the beach is one of the pleasant moment of the stay.

We spent two (2) nights at Island Plantation in June 2021. The grounds are absolutely incredible and something you would see out of a tourism guide. The caretaker, Choco, met us and showed us to our room and was available throughout our stay for any needs or questions we might have. Although the road to get to Playa Bluff is exceptionally rough (~20min each way, $15 cab fare), once you made it to Island Plantation you felt like you were in a completely different world.
Although none of the restaurants were open during our stay because of covid, we hope to one day return and enjoy the full atmosphere of Island Plantation. It was a bit of a challenge to find food since many of the hotels/restaurants in Playa Bluff are closed - make sure you WhatsApp ahead before you depart Bocas Town. Breakfast was served on site every morning!
Overall, Island Plantation was one of the most beautiful boutique hotels we have ever stayed in. Highly recommended!

Island Plantation is a beautiful eco resort on the famous Bocas Bluff Beach, and it is truly a tropical paradise! The perfect balance of off-the-grid but still accessible (wifi and ample taxi services), we loved disconnecting from our lives but being online to search for local hangouts and excursions. Bluff Beach is just a few meters from the hotel rooms, with the adorable Bom Bom beach bar and miles of postcard sandy beaches and breaking waves. Zapatillas island is a must-see picture perfect beach just a short boat ride from Bocas town. Tons of cute restaurants and street stores if you feel like going to town, or just stay on the beach and eat and drink and relax for days on end! We had a blast and will definitely return.

We loved our stay at Island plantation, when we arrived we had a beautiful room just in front of the swimming pool where you can bath anytime. The beach is at walk distance and you may have the possibility to see turtles… monkeys are also around. Our stay was incredibly pleasant thanks to Choko- the manager of the hotel, the service and advices he offered were great. He would check in regularly with customers. Breakfast is at the beach and delicious. We surely recommend this lovely place for its connection to nature and their service as well as their food.

What an amazing place. It’s gorgeous, the beach is unreal and the whole place has such a great chill vibe. Me and my kids loved it. Juan Carlos was an awesome host. Everyone went out of their way to be accommodating, even leaving a cooler of drinks for us late night after the restaurant closed. I’d go back in a second!

HI....there are no water taxis close to this property.....you will need to use a truck taxi or local shuttle down to another location on the coast....or back to town if you want to go to another island by water taxi. Have fun!

Eric's reply is great- the only thing I would add is sometimes the flights can get delayed in and out so don't plan any international flights too close to your Air Panama Bocas flight. Our last trip there the 6pm flight didn't leave until 9pm (so we walked into town and had dinner). From what I hear this is a common occurance. Plus you have to drive from Panama City airport (PTY) to small domestic Albrook Airport on the other side of Panama City so depending on traffic that can take 30 min to over an hour. So just don't book your international and domestic flights close together. We always fly in and enjoy Panama City (Casco Viejo- 'Old Town' is fun) for the night then take the Bocas flight the next day (try to arrive in daylight to Bocas since you'll want to see it all flying in and driving to resort). Then we plan a night in Panama City again before our international flight back just in case there are flight delays or cancellations.
There are more places to choose from in the Bluff Beach area.
