My almost adult son and I spent 3 nights here in February, 2017. This is a small motel style place about a 15 minute walk from the Angangueo town centre. The rooms and hotel were lovely - I had the suite with the fireplace and my son had a standard room. The suite had a nice sitting area and the...

Angangueo is a small ex-mining town with few hotels and very few restaurants. The reason to stay here is that it's between 2 monarch butterfly sanctuaries, Sierra Chincua & El Rosario (the better of the two). This is a small hotel as good as any you'll find in this town, but don't expect luxury. The rooms are clean, there's Wifi,...

Hotel at the very bottom of the hill. Only heat is a fireplace with enough wood for about 30 mins of fire. It was in the 30s at night and we slept in wool hats, double layers etc. The restaurant was closed when we arrived as the cook was sick, but open the next morning and the breakfast was very...

We stayed here for one night early January 2017. The gardens are lovely and that's really the only positive I can see other than location. The room was extremely basic and actually colder in the afternoon than it was outside. We had a fireplace and when asked they did light the fire, but you had to virtually sit on top...

I stayed at Don Gabino with my friend and her two young kids to go see the butterflies in the morning. They couldn't sleep all night because it was too cold. So we didn't want to stay the second night. When we told them about our issue as soon as we got back from the butterflies, at 2 PM, they...

We paid 55 USD/night for a 2 full bed room. I was disappointed that it didn't have fireplace, and we really did miss it in the evening since the room got cold at night. The restaurant was not open when we arrived, so we had to look for a place to dine (quite a challenge in the small town of...

Beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, excellent service and great food. We made reservation by phone, which we found to be the best and cheapest way (DO NOT use booking.com or any of the other online reservations - for some reason they charge a huge commission). We called the lady in advance to tell her that we are late and asked her...

The hotel is a little crude and outdated. All electrical outlets and light switches had bare wires sticking out from under the switch plates. Receptacles are not grounded and are only 2 slot so if your plug has 3 terminals they will provide an adapter. Restaurant was not open for dinner because they were having a party there and it...

We reserved a room at Plaza Don Gabino Hotel on Trip Advisor, and from Trip Advisor reviews, knew to bring cash to pay upon arrival, no cards accepted. It looks like you might pay a bit more for this (compared with a walk-in in another review), but as there are a limited number of rooms in town I was happy...
