Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed for a night, on our way to a wedding. This is a first class Bed & Breakfast. Very comfortable, clean, and has absolutely everything that one might need. Breakfast was excellent too. Breda and her husband are very nice and are so helpful too. . .

I came to stay here for a couple of nights with my sister. The owners were friendly and welcoming and we had a lovely twin-bedded room at the front of the building. It was lovely and quiet the whole time we were there (with the exception of a massive storm which took out all the electrics on the morning of our departure!) The beds were lovely and comfortable and we both had a couple of wonderful night's sleep here. We discussed the places to visit around here with the owners and the could not have been more helpful - to be honest we needed to have stayed here at least another week to see all of the things we wanted to see nearby. The breakfast was excellent also - plenty of cereals/fruit/yoghurts and cooked breakfast options. I cannot really fault the place. My sister fell in love with their lovely old dog also who likes to "shepherd" you and your car out of the drive! I really do hope that we will return again for an extended visit in the not-too-distant future.

After reading a bad review here about mobility I was a bit apprehensive for my nan who was travelling with me who struggles to walk (walking frame/stick) but she was put into the bottom room with easy access for her. The only thing was there was no seat in the wet room which is pretty much the only thing I could complain about. Breda and her husband were fantastic with both my nan and I. Always offering to help in any which way and making our stay great. The house is lovely and in a peaceful area surround by a beautiful landscape at the back - if you can walk into the back garden and have a look, stunning. The b&b was very clean through out. There were toiletries in each bathroom which was great as most people tend to forget their own when travelling. A nice personal touch. The bedrooms were big and the beds comfortable. The breakfast is out of this world and Breda is more than happy to take any orders given, for instance my nan mainly ate a banana, toast and honey, rather than the breakfasts on offer. However, I had the breakfast each morning which is truly lovely. The meats are also sourced from Athboy which makes it even nicer. You are given your own key to come and go as you please which is great. There are benches and chairs outside to sit and smoke which was great for my nan also. The television in your rooms has Netflix aswell (another great attribute as I am 24 so really do enjoy Netflix) as a variety of channels English and Irish mix. They have a dog called Lenny who is a border collie who is so placid and sweet, he will sit outside with you and just keep you general company. I did want to put him in the boot of the car he was so sweet. Overall, an amazing, welcoming and very pleasant stay. Would recommend 100% for someone looking for a home from home.

The owners are lovely people. I would highly recommend staying here. Only a 5 to 10 minute walk into the town. The rooms are lovely and placed out well for the room. The service was brilliant if anything was needed all we had to do was ask.

It was nice to arrive to Otterstown House after a long journey and it was even better to be welcomed into my clean and well-appointed room. There was everything that I needed; I was able to enjoy the full range of tv stations - I think there was 192 or something. Although, having said that, I was really there for a bit of a holiday, a break away from it all, so it was great to get the suggestions from Dan and Breda about what there was to do in the area. They are both obviously very proud Meath folk and it really showed in their knowledge about the area. The vegan breakfast was quite tasty. It was pleasing not to have to explain the difference between vegan and vegetarian and I was glad that they didn't assume that gluten-free bread was the answer to my requirements. I look forward to the opportunity to visit Otterstown House and Athboy again. Hopefully when I am coming back for some competitive archery at the local archery club, there'll be a spare room at the inn

On arrival B & B was pleasant, room big enough and spacious bathroom, first issue was plug in sink was push up type but got stuck down with bowl full of water, staff quickly came up and cleared it just advised not to use plug as IT Gets Stuck (why not spend small sum and buy real plug), next the TV would not work, eventually man explained that the was a problem with the aerial so it only received Irish channels, problem was weather was bad and we had time to spare and as far as we were aware there was nowhere else to sit. Next issue the heating went off early evening and did not come on until the next morning. the same happened the next night bearing in mind we had snow at this time, when we left the heating had still not come on All of this spoilt what could of been a really pleasant experience, the bed was comfortable, the room clean, there were toiletries in bathroom, and the full breakfast was more than enough even for me with a large appetite

On arrival we were welcomed by the lovely Breda, who is very accommodating, nothing was to much trouble for her, she is very knowledgable of the local area and speaks of it with pride. The room was immaculate, nicely neutrally decorated, with everything you need for a comfortable stay, anything else you needed you just had to ask. the bed was very comfortable and I had a very peaceful and restful sleep. Breakfast was more than satisfactory with the usual offerings of fresh fruit, juice, cereal, yogurt, and the choice from different levels of cooked breakfast eg: small, medium, large, with fresh tea/coffee and toast. I had fresh fruit, yogurt and the medium cooked both days which more than kept me going until lunch. Again the breakfast room is of neutral decor and kept very clean, as was all the areas of the house, the gardens and grounds also looked immaculately kept. Would definitely recommend Otterstown House to anyone traveling to this beautiful part of Ireland, cannot leave without also a mention to Lenny, the collie dog who also gave the most warm welcome each time we were on the go.

My friend and I stayed here for two nights, while Guns N Roses were playing at Slane. Excellent room and breakfast. Breda and Dan really made us feel welcome and went the extra mile for us, providing us with transport to and from Navan. Could have asked for a better service! I would highly recommend!
