One of the best holiday experiences, we ever had, in a historical location in the midst of the Jamaican nature, an ornithologist’s paradise. The Lady of the House, Sarah, was most gracious in making us feel welcome & enjoying the good cooking of young chef Nicolas at the antique dining table, gave us an exquisite but laid back experience ! Waking up in the morning with a view on the misty mountains was a fairytale experience.
We stayed two days and Sarah is the best guest house host ever. The propertie is very clean, great location and the food is excellent. having breakfast in the morning with the sun popping up behind the hills is a very exclusive experience!
We had a very nice stay at the Geddes Great House in the cottage, which is huge. The house has a very nice history and a very friendly owner, miss Sarah. She showed us around and told about the history. Also very friendly staff and good food. Loved it to stay there. Thanks!!!
We stayed for 3 nights over here at the end of our round trip through Jamaica. We enjoyed it very much the Great house is an old building perched on a top of a mountain with a beautiful almost total 360 degrees view. The hostess / owner gives you a tour around the beautiful house on arrival. She also explains a lot of the house, history and the area around the house. We also got a kitchen tour with a lot of tasting off delicious dessert etc. We only had 2 problems. At first we had was a broken toilet seat the first day, which was replaced the next day, so this was resolved quickly and perfectly. The second problem was the shower, the pressure of the water was very fickle as was the water temperature, the pressure even dropped completely at sometimes and this was really a problem at some times. This is perhaps the benefits/problems of a old building and if it was my decision I would try to fix this as soon as possible. Normally we would take off one star from the rating because of this problem, but the hostess was so very, very friendly and the location is so perfect that this compesates this problem. Each morning we saw the beautiful Sunrise on the couch outside our room. Breakfast is pretty good and the ask each evening what you want the next morning, you can pick your choice and they make it for you. Dinner is also good. They like to know in advance if you will have dinner over there and they discus with you what they will make that evening. They give you some options and if you want something else they will make it for you. We liked the dinner very much. The road up the mountain to the hotel is not to bad, It certainly does not meet the european and north american standard, but it is for sure worse at some other places in Jamaica. Most attractions in the area are a short drive (between a 1/2 hour to 1,5 hour) drive from the great house. We saw in 2 full days Nine Mile, Irie blue hole, Dunn's falls, Seville great house and the sun valley plantation and we didn't have to rush to do this. We highly recommend this place for a nice stay, the only recommendation I have is to fix the water pressure, I hope I have the opportunity to return in the future.…
A beautiful great house and estate steeped in history with gorgeous vistas, period furniture, and amazing management and staff. I felt at home from the minute I arrived and dreaded leaving a week later. The surrounding community is also warm and welcoming. I was treated to delicious and healthy meals throughout my stay. Transportation to and from the airport and for trips to the beach and Ocho Rios were easily arranged. They worked with my budget and showed incredible flexibility. I would go back in a heart beat.
