Excellent family meal. Delicious Sunday roast meal with great Yorkshire puddings sat next to the open fire. All food served was sourced locally and was a real bonus. Service was very friendly and took great care of our needs. Will definitely be going back.

We were taken here on a mystery tour by a good friend and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent especially the tempura prawn starter. Our only critism was paper place mats and the service was a little unfriendly. Because it was a dark rainy night we were unable to appreciate the village location but we are sure to...

As a (very expensive) treat, my husband and I took my elderly father for Christmas lunch at the Crown. The meal and the service can only be described as appalling. The Trio of Fishes that we had as a starter seemed to be all the same fish and I have certainly had better fish bites from M&S. The pastry on...

We have visited The Crown many times over the years for both lunches and dinners, but after the meal we had last night (Sunday 18th December, 6.30 pm) we won't be returning. There were 4 of us in total. We each had starters which were ok. We ordered 3 roast beef meals and 1 roast pork for our main courses....

On arrival we were warmly welcomed. Our room, Wild Flowers, was small but quiet and comfortable with a view over the village green. We ate in the restaurant both nights, the menu was varied and the standard excellent. We will certainly stay again if only for the black pudding at breakfast.

Visited recently with a very large group as part of a visit to Ripon Races. We had a cooked breakfast on the way and a lovely pie on way home. From start to finish the staff were professional and nothing was too much trouble. Food was amazing and everyone commented on how great the venue was. Cannot wait to go...

Stayed here on the Way of the Roses cycle route. The room was luxurious and the food at both the evening meal and breakfast the following day was of a high standard. Nothing was too much trouble and we felt so well looked after by all the staff. Would definately recommend staying and eating here. Secure cycle storage also available

Abundance of fresh Yorkshire produce is used to create the ideal Sunday lunch. The prawn cocktail salad was crunchy as promised and the Yorkshire puddings covered in delicious gravy. Main course chicken was moist. The slow cooked lamb fell apart it was so tender. Crunchy vegetables and crispy roast potatoes. Followed by a chocolate brownie which was crispy on the...

We only visited for a meal.which was average and the service very slow!! The gentleman behind the bar was abrupt and unfriendly and very sharp, without a smile to be seen and for no reason . The young male waiter was not much better. If you want excellent food and a friendly country atmosphere don't go here,go to The Fox and...

We stayed over Easter in the Gun room. It smelled wonderful when we arrived. A lovely aroma of leather polish. It really is impressive with the dark wood and luxury bathroom. There are robes and plenty of towels. Candles and a roll top bath invite you to spoil yourselves. We were trapped by the rain but the sitting area allowed...
