Detailed Reviews
This is a small, family-run establishment, consisting of 5 bungalows scattered among lush gardens with a pool and lounge area as the centerpiece. Everyone has their own jacuzzi, and breakfast can be delivered to your bungalow. We loved the setting, the coziness, and the laid back atmosphere. But most of all, we loved the attentiveness of Jean Michel and his staff. We had rental car problems and needed 2 cars replaced in the same day. But we do not speak French. Jean Michel and his staff were completely on top of this, made phone calls on our behalf, and got everything settled. They helped us with everything---including saying goodbye and getting us on our way at 6:00 AM for an early flight. Great people make for great vacations.

Nice, clean and well-equipped bungalow with beautiful sea view in a magnificent natural setting. The jacuzzi is great!
Very good varied and plentiful breakfast with fresh juices, sweet and savory dishes and fruits. Very welcoming and pleasant hosts. Be careful, however, the nights are a little noisy because of the various animals singing and whistling!

After a week at the Black Rock we can only recommend this establishment.
The Noch Nwe lodge is clean, well equipped and enjoys a view of the sea and the sunset.
The jacuzzi is a big plus after a good day as is the swimming pool.
The breakfasts are excellent, fresh juices and fruits, homemade yogurt, pastries, charcuterie and cheese...
The owners are extremely kind and helpful.
The only downside is the bathroom which could do with a good refresh.

We had a frustrating and disappointing stay. Two things I wish I had known before booking this place:
Firstly, the traffic noise is intense. The houses are right beside one of the most busy roads on the island, we were woken up at 6am by the morning rush hour and there is no peace and quiet on the terrace (we live in New York - we not difficult when it comes to noise). To make things worse, our host decided to undertake construction work right next to our terrace and when we complained, he reluctantly agreed to pause while we had breakfast, but nonetheless just continued.
Secondly, the house is not the sleek chalet you see in the pictures, but a poorly executed DIY-project. The door to the bathroom only opens halfway, because a cabinet has been put up too close to it, the stairs are almost impossible to climb because they are uneven and too small, the kitchen cabinets are difficult to open and close, because they are skewed, the painting is badly done that everything feels dirty etc, etc. And while the instagramable trappings are in place, the basics - proper lighting, soap in the bathroom etc - are not.
This place is dramatically overpriced and misrepresented on the internet. We regretted that we booked it for three nights but we were in the middle of the high season and we couldn’t find another place to stay on short notice.

Response from rocher noir, Service clients/Réception at Le Domaine du Rocher Noir
Responded 4 Mar 2022
We take your comments into account in order to further improve our services and to be able to satisfy our most demanding customers... Indeed, work was scheduled near your Lodge. You have booked Sunday evening to arrive Monday: impossible to deprogram the works. You have pointed out the inconvenience to us and we have directly done our best to reduce the nuisance. We tried to find common ground but the damage was done... you didn't accept our apologies... We make every effort to satisfy our visitors and please believe that we regret when they leave dissatisfied, without saying goodbye...

We spent a pleasant weekend as a couple at the Rocher Noir gîte in the Touloulou bungalow despite the gloomy weather. Friendly welcome. Very well equipped cottage. Very clean. Lovely sea view. Jacuzzi and swimming pool. Everything is welcoming, very well maintained and designed to spend good moments of relaxation. I recommend.
