This is our second year with Brigitte at the Rochers Caraibes-Eco Village. We stayed in the same bungalow: La Kaz a Man Tiren. It was again perfect. Four nights we had a local Creole cook bring us beautifully prepared creole dinners which we ate on the veranda. A two minute walk down to the beach is where we spent all our late afternoons. It's not a sandy beach but the water was warm and the atmosphere is laid back. Brigitte loaned us beach chairs and we happily watched the beautiful sunsets and the many local children enjoying the water. Also to be enjoyed on this un-touristy beach are made to order and very delicious crepes, churned as you wait coconut ice-cream and on Sundays chi chi which are reminiscent of fried dough. On Sundays the families all come out to picnic for the day and during the late afternoon we were serenaded by very professional quality African drumming. Brigitte, our hostess was also a great concierge. She is available to accommodate your every request. She booked us restaurant reservations and answered all of our questions. We are snorkelers and also right at the beach below is the best snorkeling outfit on the island: Anbadlola. They outfit you with all the gear and then take you on a short boat ride to Pigeon Island where you can experience an amazing variety of fish. They then bring you to another location to view the turtles. Antoine and the other guides are fluent in English and will enlighten you about the fish and turtle life. We liked it so much we booked them twice. But it's best to book them before you arrive since they fill up quickly. During our week stay we visited the Botanical Gardens, the market at Basse-Terre, and the coffee and vanilla plantation called Domaine de Vanibel in Vieux Habitants. The tours are only on certain hours and certain days, so ask Brigitte to call ahead for you. If you don't speak French very well, you will have difficulty understanding the guide. Of course we stocked up at the Carrefour Market about 15 minutes away in Bouillante. Right next door is a great boulangerie and patisserie where we bought delicious French pastries and baguettes. We feasted on French bread, cheese, pate and wine at home in our bungalow. We were also in fruit heaven. In season were mangoes, bananas (many varieties, try them all), and pineapples. The local yogurt is great and also the Paradise ice-cream. The passion fruit flavor is particularly good. We do hope to return next year.

We stayed at Kaz a Man Tiren. As other reviews detail this place is just about perfect and the owner, Brigitte, was very welcoming and helpful. We particularly liked the open air living with deck and terrace, and cooling off in the Jacuzzi. The bedroom air con works well, and due to the lovely breezes sitting out on the deck in the evenings was cool and comfortable. As an added bonus, breakfasts on the terrace were accompanied by a myriad of birds, including hummingbirds. The well appointed kitchen was great to cook in, and we cooked most nights for ourselves. Unlike a lot of holiday rentals the basics (and more) are provided, e.g. Coffee, mile, sugar, fruit juice washing powder, even some rum. We arranged a meal to be delivered by Fulberte on the first evening and combined with the supplies left by Brigitte, this meant we could relax the first evening without dashing out to a restaurant or for supplies. Fulberte’s meal was a great introduction to the local cuisine. The location is good, not far from the Traverse so in a good place to explore. There are shops in Pointe Noir (the 8 to 8) is deceptively large!), and supermarkets towards Boulliant to the south. Travelling further south, there is a large fruit and veg market in Basse Terre (town). Also close by is a beach, “Anse Caraibes”. Whilst not the best beach in the area (it’s pebbly rather than sandy) it is in easy walking distance and has a few restaurants and easy parking. There is even some live coral (not much but still a rarity) at the northern end of the beach. Tip: if you want to snorkel at the Cousteau Reserve Brigitte can recommend a company based at Anse Caraibes. We didn’t realise this so booked with a company based at Malendure where the parking is somewhat challenging!

We stayed with Brigitte at the Gran Kaz villa and it exceeded our expectations. We were 6 adults and 2 babies and the experience was wonderful - from the incredible views of the ocean to the comfort of the bedrooms to the amazingly stocked kitchen, it felt like a perfect home away from home. It was also a good home base from which to explore many nice beaches and hikes. Brigitte was helpful, warm, and attentive, and we all loved how she had the home set up; we cooked almost every night and had everything we needed. The pool was great fun, especially for the babies, and the deck allowed us to lounge and soak up the sun. During our stay, we frequented the following beaches: Leroux, Petite Anse, and Grand Anse. Leroux was the calmest beach and best for kids, but the other beaches were beautiful, just bigger waves. We took one big day trip to the other side of the island to Bois Jolan which was delightful and very calm and shallow.

We (a couple) stayed for five nights in Kaz a Man Tiren. We could have spent endless days sitting on the porch with the birds and the sea view and lovely breezes. The place had everything you might need - a very well appointed kitchen, washing machine, air conditioner in the bedroom, towels, citronella candles, games and books... Brigitte was very helpful in arranging meals and trips for us, including a wonderful snorkeling trip with An Ba Dlola to the Jacques Cousteau Reserve. Rochers Caraibe is also with a 5-30 minutes drive of Le Maison du Cacao, Deshaies and it's nearby beaches (Anse de la Perle, Grand Anse), and the hiking trails along the Route de Traversée. Do hire Fulberte, the cook recommended by Brigitte. She prepared and delivered dinners to us several evenings and cooks terrific local dishes.

Just returned from a wonderful week at Brigitte's Eco Village. My wife and 2 daughters (16 and 18) stayed in the La Kaz villa. We were a bit concerned about space with 4 adults but Brigitte created a second bedroom with the pull out couch and it was very comfortable. The villa is really nice- great master bed, wonderful & extremely well furnished kitchen, new bath with- great water pressure. We enjoyed the hot tub every evening with the frogs chirping and every morning with the birds and sunshine. We cooked in a number of evenings after long busy days of adventure and really enjoyed the open air -cozy villa. We experienced next to no bugs! Brigitte was very welcoming and i feel she would have done anything for us if we asked. We had very little to ask for because the villa was so complete. She was so sweet she even gave us a bottle of champagne for new years eve!
