We spent 8 very comfortable nights in La Trace du Contrebandier. Olivier and Renaud have thought of everything in terms of design and functionality : a well equipped kitchen, plenty of comfortable seating, a large bed with an excellent mosquito net and all so imaginatively designed. It is one of the nicest gites we have stayed in. The setting is very secluded, in a tropical garden with some wonderful trees. We were not bothered by road noise and La Trace de Contrebandier is very private; you are not aware of the other units. Parking is easy and close by - which we appreciated when it rained! Pointe Noire itself is a 5 minute drive or a 25 minute walk. There are plenty of shops and restaurants. However, Olivier and Renaud also propose meals from one of the local caterers which they deliver to your fridge during the day. These were very good and we had such a nice terrace that we were happy to take advantage of them. Highly recommended!

We had such an amazing 4 night stay at West Indies Cottage ! The place is spectacular, with a few huts in the trees, a great lagoon pool and a remarkable windmill. Everything is conceived and designed in sync with the surrounding nature and you can hear birds singing all day (and all night) long. The room we slept in (the windmill) was well decorated, perfectly clean and fully equipped with a private jacuzzi at the edge of the forest. As for Olivier and Renaud, they are the best hosts, very thoughtful and friendly. They helped us organizing our trip in Basse-Terre and their recommendations were always spot on. Truly one of the greatest guesthouse I've visited so far. Thank you again guys for having us!

amazing design, absolutely delightful hosts, they care so much about our well-being, they made the trip even more beautiful. everything was clean, the outdoor was amazing and so peaceful, very secured for the children and enough privacy in every hut. the sliding door into nature was just outrageously wonderful. would highly recommend and happily return.

We visited west indie cottages for 2 nights but we ended up extending it to 3. They speak very good English, has a very high level of service and the place is just spectacular! It’s very picturesque with not one detail left un though of, from the immaculate garden, to the detailed treehouses and the devious breakfast. It’s really a must in Guadeloupe! Thank you for our stay! We will be back

No words other then FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!! Olivier and Renaud are superb hosts. Breakfast? Check. Everything you need and or want. Fresh coffee and juice. Not to speak about the crunchy bread.... Mmmmmmm! They bring it to you. Rain or no rain at any time you want. Like to have a chat? Check. Olivier has many things to tell you and to advise you round and about. Want more towels? Check. They bring them asap. Feels like a real holiday in a lush green garden with all kinds of flowers and trees. They are ecological minded and build everything around the trees. These guys love and respect nature and it shows. Beautiful, really beautiful. We stayed in the "Tiki House" and it was MORE than Tiki! A real must go, don't hesitate!

The West Indies Cottage is a hidden gem in Guadeloupe. Each cottage has a creative theme and they have added many details and art that bring the theme to life and create a unique living experience. Our stay in their windmill and pirate treehouse exceeded our expectations. The cottage hosts go above and beyond to ensure that your stay is amazing and that you experience Guadeloupe's beautiful destinations and restaurants. The location is close to many natural wonders and spectacular views of the ocean and community. We appreciate the cottage hosts friendliness, generosity, attention to detail, communication style, and that they are highly responsive - they do exactly what they say that they will do. It was a perfect family vacation.

I am in two minds when writing this, i want to praise the best place i've ever stayed but also want to keep it a secret! to say this exceeded my expectations is a huge understatement. i picked it as a quirky place for a couple of nights and wish my whole two weeks had been here. i cant wait to go back and could have lived there forever. we stayed in the treehouse and there is also a pirate treehouse, romany caravan which we also had one night for my older children, and a windmill. From the minute you arrive and in fact from the minute we booked, with lots of emails back and forth, the service was impeccable. Olivier and Renaud are super friendly, genuinely lovely people who do anything to make stay perfect and made recommendations of beautiful and amazing places to visit. every little detail is thought of in the stunning gardens, unusual things to look at everywhere. We loved the pool, the hammock, The treehouse is like a luxury apartment, everything is thought of in the kitchen so easy to self cater, hot tub and outdoor kitchen lovely, room lovely and the sliding walls, bathroom, furnishings all really good quality and beautiful. it was like being in a luxury version of swiss family robinson or robinson crusoe, i felt like a proper explorer and am so sad to have left. interesting and unusual place to stay but also chic, beautiful and luxurious. I speak french but hosts speak excellent English, not enough words to describe how great this place is - a must for your bucket list

What an incredible place to stay! West Indie Cottages are nestled in the jungle of the wilder side of Guadeloupe (rent a car...seriously). The property is extremely well cared for and beautifully designed. The interior of the treehouse was clean, and the details were well thought out. My favorite were the sliding doors that opened up the bed to be completely surrounded by sunshine and fresh air! Well worth the drive from Point-a-Pitre. Most incredible of all were the hosts, Olivier and Renaud, who made sure everything about our stay was perfect! They waited for us late late at night for our arrival, gave us recommendations, and were very easy to communicate with the entire trip. I recommend this hideaway for anyone looking for a breath of fresh air in the jungle, and something totally different than a typical Caribbean stay on the beach.

Our gracious hosts Olivier and Renaud made everything about our stay wonderful, from start to finish. We were in one of the tree houses, and were absolutely charmed by its combination of amenities and natural elements. Slide open the walls and you feel like you're in the middle of a rain forest, then enjoy a dip in the hot tub. Go! You won't regret it.

This property in the rain forrest near Point Noire is really just so lovely. Lovelier still are hosts Renaud and Olivier - who are welcoming, charming, funny and beyond thoughtful. We arrived quite late (10 PM) and knowing we wouldn't have a chance to eat between airport and property, they made sure to have a hot meal waiting for us. They kept it warm and brought it to our cottage once we got settled. Renaud's homemade banana fritters are amazing! With advance notice I believe any food or beverages you want could be supplied - so you wouldn't necessarily have to cook or go out if you preferred to hang in and enjoy your cottage. (We celebrated a birthday and the cake they sourced was among the best we've ever had.) That said Renaud and Olivier had tons of great recommendations for places to eat and things to do and how best to get there! Our hosts checked in with us regularly and provided a HEROIC level of care after we had a minor but upsetting car crash. They helped us calm down, communicate with the rental company, and even wrapped up the broken window while we were out for the day. It was a level of kindness and service that is so incredibly special and rare! Our time here felt much more like a visit with "framily" than a hotel stay. West Indies Cottage actually has several themed cottages - like a pirate hut and windmill. All are thoughtfully appointed open air structures (except for the windmill) with efficiency kitchens. We stayed in the larger cottage with a spacious outdoor common room by the pond which slept 5. The property is indeed in the rainforest within the interior national park. So depending on the season you may have steady mist at the cottage (which keeps things cool - great for sleeping!), full blazing sun down at the beach, and a steady rain up on the peaks. They do a great job taking advantage of the stunning natural environment that surrounds the place, with just enough fruit trees and strategically placed plantings to provide fresh ingredients, atmosphere and privacy between the cottages. Because West Indies Cottage embraces it's natural setting there are no TVs in the cottages. You will also have to drive the 5 minutes into the town of Pointe Noire for a cell signal and cooking supplies. While there is WIFI on the property, the signal may not reach to your cottage - it didn't reach ours (Carbet/Smuggler). If in-room WIFI is something you require, double check with the Renaud & Olivier so they may house you where the signal is best.
