We loved every minute of our stay at this hotel. The staff were amazing. George, the wonderful Maitre D, has been there for 58 years, and he is ably assisted by Amanda and Stripes at reception, Brandon in the bar, and many others. The atmosphere is friendly and homely..a sheer delight. We look forward to further visits and highly recommend...

We were staying at at friends house in Gowrie and needed a good venue to watch the Ireland England rugby match. They were very accommodating in getting 8 of us a table in front of the screen. The food came quickly and was excellent. I had the hunters pie 8/10 as the crust was not perfect. My wife had the...

A one night stay while exploring Midland Meander saw us stay in a classic double room overlooking the lake. The room had been refurbished and looked splendid . However we soon found that the lever in the shower fell off every time we used it and the toilet didn't flush . I fixed both problems in 5 minutes but I...

Sorry to hear that there were a couple hiccups in your room, cannot understand the collapsed springs in the mattress though, all our mattresses are fomo mattresses, nevertheless we have corrected the other issues in the rooms. I really hope we can make your next stay at perfect 10

We stayed at Rawdons when in town for a midlands wedding. The room was nice, spacious and clean. Pleasantly more modern than the first impression of the hotel might lead you to expect. We found the noise from other guests quite unbearable during the night and early morning, and were happy to return home where we could sleep undisturbed. It...

We have now stayed twice at Rawdons, winter and summer and thoroughly enjoyed both stays. It is an old style hotel that has had some renovations done but maintains that Olde Worlde feel. Staff are a great group of people and all very friendly, food is good pub grub and breakfast are excellent. To be able to sit outside prior...

Lovely day in the Midlands. Stopped at Rawdons to sample the beers. We ordered both Beer Paddles to sample. We enjoy the famous craft beers but wow we loved the new flavored on menu B. The swinging samango and the pickled pig cappuccino were hits Had a lovely time with a good vibe and excellent service.

Always a most enjoyable experience, although not perfect the overall experience is always most satisfying. English country style atmosphere, comfortable rooms and a very old world dining experience. One always leaves content with that warm fuzzy feeling, the way it should be one might say....

Loved the chicken liver pate starter and the beautiful setting. It poured with rain during our Christmas Staff lunch which was so refreshing after all the heat we have been experiencing. Lovely atmosphere in the dining area

My family and I decided to eat at the Boars Head Pub in December 2016. If I was rating purely on the ambience and scenery, I would have provided a better rating. Our food experience, however, wasn't as good. We all ordered from the specials menu for the day. Unfortunately, my partner and I both felt that our burgers were...

My husband and I stayed at Rawdons for two nights and really enjoyed our stay. The food was very good, our room was comfortable and spacious, and the staff were all very friendly. The restaurant is charming, and although the menu is a little limited, the quality is good. The grounds are beautiful and well looked after. We even managed...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Rawdons Hotel is situated in the heart of the beautiful KwaZulu Natal midlands meander. A family run hotel for the past 40 years - set on a stunning 240ha estate is a great place to unwind. We have a superb Micro Brewery on the property brewing some great ales and lagers. The pub is more English than most English hotels. The rooms have recently been upgraded and well appointed and an boardwalk alongside the main dam leads to various birding, cycling and walking trails. We look forward to welcoming you to our piece of heaven. And if having so many repeat guests over the years isn't testimony to our offerings, then come and see for yourself. ... more   less
