Claire made our stay wonderful. She welcomed our whole family into her home when we had gathered for a family reunion even the members staying elsewhere. Breakfasts were delicious with a huge variety to select from. Left feeling we had been friends for years and hope to visit again soon.

The first time I called Clare Kenny - having seen the B and B in the Rough Guide - I realised this was a traditional kind of B and B: friendly, and with delicious home-baking.

Clare is also a mine of information about the area, and a stone's throw from the pubs and centre of Louisburgh.

I've now stayed two or three times and it has become a home from home.

Stayed here for 4 days and had a wonderful time. The house is very well kept, clean, tidy and Claire, the hostess, is fantastic.

Claire recommended some great beaches for walks, some good day trips and every day she provided a great breakfast.

When we arrived we were shown to our room, which was ensuite and offered refreshments in the lounge. This was very welcome after our journey - Louisburgh is a bit of a trek but worth it.

The lounge area is very comfortable with a lovely open fire (which was blazing away). There is also a second seating area which is just off the main lounge so if you prefer to read a book or just would like a little 'me ' time this is the place to do it.

The B&B is within walking distance of the centre of Louisburgh, so we were able to stroll for 5 - 6 mins past the church, up the road and into one of the 'locals' for a drink. The town has a few places for a bite to eat also. We tried Hudsons Pantry and I would go back.

From Louisburgh we took at trip to Clifden, the drive through Doolough, Lenane and Kylemore is breathtaking.

We also went to Westport - plenty to do there and plenty of shops to spend your Euros in - they make it so easy!

Overall we had a very relaxing few days and that was in no small way down to Claire's welcome and hospitality.

We'll be back!

My husband and I were exploring the coast and needed a place to stay for just 1 night - 19th April.
It was about 5pm - so very short notice. We had tried the Ponderosa - and the lovely lady there could not take us, so phoned Clare who said 'Yes!'.
What a lovely welcome - Clare is warm and friendly and informative. We were given a pot of tea and coffee with biscuits. A fresh fire was lit in the lounge for us to relax and get warm! There were books and magazines for all tastes - several appropriate to Ireland history or touring.
The town centre was a short walk away and we went to Hudson's Pantry for our evening meal.
Our room was very clean and the bed spotless and SO comfortable!
We had a wonderful breakfast the next morning which kept us going for hours!
We would certainly recommend and stay again ...

After an impromptu decision to stay in Louisburgh after returning from Innisturk - I luckily stumbled upon this beautiful B&B.

I was immediately welcomed by the exceptional Claire - and it was not difficult to see why her home has such wonderful energy. Her hospitality, warmth and kindness was above and beyond what I would ever expect from a B&B.

Claire's home is simply immaculate & truth be told I felt like I had stumbled upon a mini retreat for the night.

Claire recommended a beautiful local beach where I went for an evening dip in the sea before returning for a restful nights sleep in my pristine room.

Breakfast was absolutely wonderful with an abundant amount of delicious food being served.

Claire is so kind - she even gave me a lift into Westport to catch my train back to Dublin.

I cannot say enough about this little gem of a place but more importantly its kind host, Claire, a complete lady.

My only regret is that I didn't have more time to stay in this place and soak up the lovely energy there.

Thank you for everything,
Suzanne

We spent last weekend at Springfield House and came away feeling like we were leaving a long lost relative. Claire is so welcoming, friendly and accommodating, you feel like you've known her forever.
The rooms are large, comfortable and clean and the breakfast was top drawer. We had a great choice of cereal, fresh fruit, yoghurt and heaps of toast and/or soda bread. You could then follow this up with a full Irish breakfast, or scrambled eggs with bacon, or with Smoked Salmon and I'm sure whatever you would have asked for, if it was possible Claire would have done it for you.
Claire also had a couple of lads (I think grandnephews) helping her, on a couple of the mornings and they were as helpful and friendly as Claire... all cut from the same cloth.
You are a very short walk away from town and the beaches aren't more than 5 minutes away in the car. You are also on the main Westport Road (not that you would know it, as the house is set well back), so only about 30 minutes away from there too.
All I can say is I hope its not too long before we are back in Louisburgh... we know where we will be staying.

Stayed with Claire for one night enroute to Clare Island. She was a wonderful welcoming hostess. After arriving from a long car journey, there was tea & cake waiting for us by a roaring fire in the sitting room. It was like coming home! We chatted for a bit & got some tips for the trad festival on in Louisburgh that w/e. And altho' we left early the following morning to catch the ferry to Clare Island, she had breakfast all ready for us. The room was impeccably clean, comfortable beds, plenty of towels - everything you'd expect. I'd definitely recommend a stay here if you're in the area. Croagh Patrick is only a few minutes down the road, Westport about 10 mins drive, the very lovely Bertra beach for swimming & just 10 mins to the Clare Island / Inisturk ferry.

We stayed for a weekend with Claire, the owner. She is so welcoming and hospitable. Nothing was too much trouble and we had the most relaxing stay of our trip. Claire told us all about the nearby sights and attractions and provided us with some local knowledge that made the stay so special.

The beds were very comfortable and the room had a lovely homely feel. The breakfast was amazing, fruits, yoghurts, breads, cereals and porridge or a fry or both if we felt like it.

I would not hesitate to recommend this B&B to others, we can't wait to stay here again. Don't miss out on this gem in beautiful Mayo.

"We NEVER book - and only stay 1 night. Our 1st Landlady ever told us to always ask to check the bathroom and pull the sheets back to inspect the bed - and feel free to walk away if we don't like the place. We haven't been disappointed yet. This year we set our budget at 60euros per night per couple for B&B - the highest we paid was 65euros."
