Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

No words can describe the wonderful time we spent with Anne at her bed and breakfast. Her place may not be the most luxurious one we stayed at, but her hospitality made it the best. I wanted to learn about Ireland - its people and its culture - and Anne took the time to sit and talk with me about so much. We felt we were at home, not the paying guests in her establishment. The location of her home is wonderful, and her breakfasts delicious. You cannot go wrong with choosing Pier House if you really want to learn about the Irish and feel a part of this beautiful country.

Fantastic location and the warmest of welcomes. My daughter and I have stayed at Pier House on a number of occasions and can't wait to come back. Old Head is a beautiful location, and the B&B offers breathtaking views across the bay, with Croagh Patrick on one side and the outlying islands on the other. The accommodation was, as always, spotlessly clean and very comfortable, and breakfast was first class. The owner, Anne, could not have been more accommodating, offering us the use of the kitchen and living room, with a plentiful supply of books and newspapers - we really felt at home there. I would recommend this B&B to anyone. It's both child and pet friendly, and has a beautiful beach and fabulous hillside walks on the doorstep. We'll be back very soon!

On arrival we were welcomed by our host Anne, she showed us to our room which was delightful and spotlessly clean with en suite. Anne advised us what to go and see locally and was very accommodating with the use of her kitchen and living room. Every window in this house has spectacular views, and the house itself is beautiful very quaint. There is plenty to do in the area and beautiful beaches for walks and for the kids to play. I would highly recommend this little gem to anyone.

On arrival we were greeted with coffee & pastries, a nice touch I felt! We had full use of the Kitchen and living room areas with panoramic views. The room was en suite, average size but spotlessly clean. The owner was very hospitable at all times and even drove us into the town for a night out rather than us having to pay for a taxi. I thought this went above and beyond "normal" service. The breakfast was really good, a great choice and plenty of it. The Owner, Ann I have to say would be reason alone to stay here. I would have no problem in highly recommending this place to friends.

The b&b is located in a beautiful place and view was lovely even in the rain. Unfortunately our room was not cleaned yet and was full of insects... Breakfast was lovely even if disturbed by other people

Overlooking the "holy mountain" of Croagh Patrick and the beautiful sandy beach at Old Head this friendly B+B was everything we could have wanted. A warm welcome on arrival and lots of useful information on the locality and the region from Anne the "lady of the house". Free access to a cosy sitting room with log fire, tv and lots of interesting books on the shelves. Breakfast was freshly cooked and included the best of ingredients showing off the culinary skills of Anne who it seems is a highly experienced chef. Rooms were spotless and decorated with many of Annes own art works Cats dogs and rabbits entertained our children who also swam and played on the beach which is sandy and supervised by lifeguards. The lovely old stone pier, ancient oak forest and quiet country roads for walking and exploring added up to a wonderful place for a family holiday. DH also managed a round of golf in Westport golf course, about 20 min away, which he found suitably challenging!!
