Let us start with the positives: the location is fantastic, with beautiful views of the lagoon and the rooms are well kept and come across as very intimate. The staff is very helpful and service driven in spite of not speaking much English, which is no issue really. They really went out of their way to guide us. The food... More

This hotel is amazing, right in front of the lagoon. there is no other hotel in Bacalar that even compares. Food its delicious and original, and the staff is amazing. Prices are not cheap but its TOTALLY worth it. Also, reserve at least 5 months in advance.

This was my 4th time staying at Akalki... usually I go around May or June and this is the first time visiting in October. I would say that I was a little disappointed as it seemed that the property is run down from my last stay. The store was closed, the receptionists changed with no one wearing uniform. There is... When we arrived our expectations were sky high. The place/location is a dream. The rooms on the lagoon, the amazing views of the lagoon, the multiple colors.... We reserved late so we got one of the rooms that aren't directly on the lagoon, however we didn't mind because we have two young sons and one still doesn't swim. The night... More

Everything was great except the breakfast which was not included, only toasts and a hot drink. We ordered fruits, yogurt and eggs in extra but we think it should be included for the price. The bungalow was great, directly on the lagoon, but very close to the next one so if you plan to go there for your honeymoon or... More

Loved the place, the tranquility, and Spa. I took a 55 minute reflexiology massage and my husband a mud body wrap. We loved them. The best is the FOOD wow we were impressed with advocado with quinoa, octopus and rissoto azafran.

Defenetly would not recomend the place. The view, the lake, is extraordinary and a must see if you are close. Unfortunatly the hotel manager/owner is not very good at the profession. -Our kids got shout by the owner even when its a child friendly hotel. They were really making no trouble at all. -They charge you for evey possible service... More
