We chose this hotel due to the location on the island, being close to the beach and having a pool. We were pleased we the quality for the price. The rooms are like little cabanas with individual entrances. The rooms are dated and our room (room with garden view with 1 bed) was small but they have everything you need. The kitchenettes are actually outside (covered) which was nice because then you are not cooking in your room. We ended up cooking all our meals and eating outdoors which was nice. There is a large Carrefour Market grocery store a short drive from the hotel. We arrived after hours and they had left the keys and all the information we needed for us. There was no parking when we arrived but you can park on the street in the area. The hotel itself is very quiet - even though the rooms were fully booked when were we there - we didn't notice. If you need to contact the hotel, I would suggest to do so by phone instead of email. A week prior to check in we had tried to contact the hotel via Expedia message and ao via email directly t but did not receive any response. We then tried by phone and reached them right away and they were very helpful. The nicest beach we found in the area was Anse l'Etang which is a short drive and highly recommend it. There are no beach towels offered by the hotel so would recommend bringing your own. I would stay at this hotel again.…
Located on the hill, fantastic views of the ocean. Rooms are rather dated, but reasonably furnished and provide all necessities. If you come by car, be prepared to "fight" for parking spot, or park slightly outside of the hotel parking lot, as hotel parking lot has limited number of parking spots. Walk to the beach is rather long, and going back up to the hotel is exhausting, even though it's just a short walk, but way up. Hence, we were taking car every morning and explored all beaches around this area. Overall - great stay and we would stay again, but rooms do need some upgrades...
We loved the outdoor dining space and fully equipped kitchen. Little birds came to visit us as we enjoyed a snack and ocean view at the dining table. The bed was comfortable and the air conditioning worked well. A lovely breakfast was available for an extra 10 Euros. The hotel is up a steep hill from the beach, but within walking distance of the beach, a bakery, a mini-mart, and several cafes. The Internet worked near the office, but not in the room. Be aware that the room does not have screens on the windows, so mosquitoes are an issue. One suggestion that I would make is to let guests know via e-mail or text that their keys will be taped to the office window if they arrive after 7 P.M. We were ready to sleep in our car until my sharp-eyed partner noticed our key taped to the office window. We ate dinner at a pop-up chicken roaster by the soccer field. Excellent roasted chicken at a very low price.…
Charming little hotel overlooking the broad beach, just a 10 minute (steep) walk away. Two nicer beaches, a patisserie and numerous restaurants also within walking distance. Room regularly cleaned, with good beds, ceiling fan, decent shower, balcony and small kitchenette. Good service and when our key failed to open the room, the owner was there in minutes to fix it. The hotel has parking but not enough for all guests when full. But road parking is possible.
Le Manguier is excellent value for Martinique. Ensconced on a hill in a residential neighborhood overlooking Tartane's soccer field, beach and marina, this place delivers top value for money spent. The rooms are small but why are you there if you're going to stay in your room? They are clean and the beds are comfortable. The stairs connecting the different levels need some maintenance, but the pool, though small, is clean and well maintained, and it's right off the breakfast room, which serves fresh baked croissants, pains au chocolat and rolls every morning piping hot in baskets, buffet style for each guest. The staff and front desk are very hands off, you almost feel like you're at an Air BnB instead of a hotel. The small kitchen on the balcony is a blast, we made new year's eve dinner there while enjoying the view over the bay. Great point of departure for hiking the peninsula and Pelée.…
A great price for a basic, clean and lovely spot in the sweet little town of Tartane. Lots of sweeping sea views. Breakfast available. Room also has balcony with small kitchenettes. Pool is well kept and refreshing.
I upgraded to a room with a view, and it was well worth the extra price. The view was amazing. I had my own private balcony, with a table and chairs, and a beach lounger. It even had a small outdoor kitchen. I made both breakfast and lunch in my kitchen everyday, only eating dinner at restaurants. Just a note, don't leave fruit uncovered, the birds love you for it! The room is on the small side, but I spent most of the time outdoors anyway. I know some people complained that there wasn't enough parking in their lot. It wasn't a problem once I found the staircase to the street below. I parked there, which was much easier than the lot. It was a short walk to the beach and restaurants using that little set of stairs. The beach is wonderful but crowded. A number of vendors set up around the beach area, selling roasted chicken and fish, churros, spices, roasted peanuts, etc. There is a convenience store within walking distance, which had all the makings for breakfast and lunch. You must do the hike around the peninsula! It is memorable, and one of the best things to do on the island. I would happily stay here again.…
This hotel delivered well. Fantastic view from the large balcony, where we spent quite some time away from the sun at midday. The pool area was ok. We did the hotel's French breakfast once, it was fine. But we took the rest of the breakfasts on the balcony where there was a small but functional outdoor kitchen. Several nice restaurants a few minutes walk from the hotel. Two, rather different, beaches also within walking distance. But, I guess all guests have a rental car anyway. We had room 23, it did fit a family of 4 given the huge balcony.
We had booked Villa Marine (for 5 nights, which was the minimum number of nights required) in Tartane, which turned-out to be part of Hotel Le Manguier (same management, and same location). The "villa" is a quite large apartment (approx. 75 m2) on Pavillion Hill above the village of Tartane, consisting of a living room, 2 bedrooms, a bathroom with bathtub, and a very nice dining room annex lounge area of which the whole facade can be opened completely by sliding windows, facing and overlooking Tartane beach and the sea down below. Just wonderful! The bedrooms feature airconditioning, which was very comfortable at night. There is a small kitchen containing a large fridge, a washing machine and dishwasher etc., but we only used it to make coffee/tea; we had stocked-up in a large supermarket (near the village of La Trinite) before checking-in at Tartane; for a nice fresh breakfast, just drive to the bakery on the coastal road in the village, where also numerous restaurants can be found, some of which were very good (in particulier Le Jardin and La Table de Mamy Nounou). Although you could walk up and down the hill to the village and to the beach, it's so much easier to drive (we had a rental car and could use the parking lot reserved for hotel guests up the hill next to the hotel). We were allowed to use the small hotel pool, but choose to swim in the sea every day (there are several nice beaches). There were plenty of towels, bed linen etc. available. The hotel itself (2 stars) seems quite basic, we would not think of booking rooms there, but this villa was really good and very reasonably priced. The location could not be better, not just to discover the Caravelle; from Tartane we also drove to discover other interesting places on Martinique (the Mount Pelee volcano, the previous capital of St. Pierre all the way on the other side of the island, etc.etc.). Two daughters of the villa owners (sometimes available at the nearby hotel reception) spoke english, the rest is all in french (like on most of Martinique). We had a fantastic time here and can recommend this villa, which had good free Wifi available as well.…
We stayed here for two nights. We had a great view (we paid for the sea view- definitely worth it). Breakfast was good and they were very accommodating. The bathroom had recently been redone which made the room feel very clean. Staff were super friendly and overall experience very positive.
