I just looked on line to find the number for this restaurant so I can book again and I realised I have not written and review from our last visit on 14th August 2013. That was our second visit and second delightful experience. Reasonable prices for truly delicious food and wines. The service was efficient but not very smiley -... More

I remember when this restaurant was owned by Lesley Caron. The chef was japanese and a great one, but that was before. Some of the decoration are still the same, antique and lovely with a rural touch and a wonderful view of the Yonne. But the price for what we had was too expensive and the service was not brillant.... More

I read reviews from other sites, UK and French, where people had a great experience. We did too! The small inn sits on the Yonne River in a picturesque town a few kilometers south of Sens. We stayed in the "Loft," which it was. Large (even for US standards!), airy, quiet, and well-furnished, this room made a pleasant stay. Carolyn... More

Caroline Marinelli has relaunched La Lucarne and made it buzz again - it was closed for some time after Leslie Caron put it up for sale. The rooms are as they were when we last stayed here in 2000 and 2002: charming, a bit on the sparse side - but at prices lower than we paid then, so excellent value.... More

The Auberge is charming to look at & is in a wonderful location on the banks of the river near a beautiful stone bridge. The town is quiet but pretty. The dining room has lovely views onto the river. We ate there the 2 nights we stayed in the Auberge. The food was good home cooking & I mean that... More

I'm just back from lunch at La Lucarne des Chouettes, and although I did not stay at the inn, I did walk through the upstairs suite so thought I could offer some useful feedback. If you disagree, feel free to skip. First off, the auberge (inn) is very easy to find and sits at a lovely location on the river.... More

We returned to La Lucarne aux Chouettes for a two-night stay because, at a lunch there a few years ago, we had enjoyed not only the meal but also the ambiance. First, we encountered the same quiet and reserved but thoughtful concierge. Next, we also enjoyed the same delicious cuisine, French but light, and with a very subtle Japanese touch... More

We went to La Lucarne aux Chouettes for a special birthday lunch. Perhaps because it was the 14th of July (a national holiday in France) and the regular staff was absent, but we found the service to be slow, and in one case unpleasant. We all have bad days, but to stand around glowering at customers is not very nice... More

Our group occupied 3 rooms at this hotel in June, 2007 and had a wonderful experience. It is not for the faint of heart though if you cannot climb stairs and I mean a lot of narrow stairs up a twisting staircase. We packed as light as we could, but nothing, however, prepared us for the steps up to the... More
