When I read reviews from other people, it really sold me on how beautiful experience it would be BUT; 1. I went during the rainy season (Nov 22-Nov 25, 2019) and it rained on two days out of the three. We got drenched one day even with the raincoat and since there was no sun, our clothes smelled like mold. Rain trickled into my rainboots and was walking the way back with wet socks and feet. 2. Our room didn't have light for the first two days in the morning and we had to use our phone lights to navigate around the room. Magically they turned the lights on on the third morning because a big group arrived the previous night. While we were there, we only had light from 6:00 pm-9/9:30 pm. 3. No-fault of the hotel, but because it was so wet outside and raining, because of humidity, our bed felt damp when sleeping. 4. Coldwater shower was another pain for us. It was not cold but it wasn't warm either to have a cold shower. I realized after this trip that I am not really into this kind of trip. I don't like having dead insects on my mosquito net, I don't like having cold showers when it is cold, I don't like having tours when it is wet, I don't like to live without power, even for a few days so please look at the pictures carefully and really decide if you are really as brave as you think you are! The best things about the tour were the staff, the people at the lodge and the interaction we got with the animals at the animal sanctuary.

I recently stayed at Amazonas Sinchicuy Lodge for the 4 day tour. From the minute my guide, Golbert, picked me up at my hotel until the minute he dropped me off in Iquitos, I was busy with activities, boat rides, pirahna fishing, hiking, and looking for pink dolphins. The experience was amazing, but the people made it even better. Golbert was a fantastic guide, Franco was so warm and welcoming, and the cook/housekeeper told the most interesting stories. Food was amazing! I would highly recommend this experience for anyone who is heading to the Amazon for the first time.

From being picked up from the airport in the early morning, till being dropped off at our Iquitos hotel, 3 full on days later, this trip was amazing. Our wonderful, musically talented, humorous, knowledgeable and insightful guide Oscar was superb. We had a really great group -a young couple from Lima and a Peruvian/Puerto Rican family with grandmother and two young children - which made it very special. The manager and cook willingly catered for our dietary requirements, (gf, df and no fish!) - nothing was a problem and the food was excellent and plentiful for us two females. The trip out to the village to meet the local tribe was great. We drank, danced, blew (non poisonous) darts through the pipe and bought some craft items. We had a sunset boat ride and drifted on the Amazon river peacefully. On our night walk we were lucky to see a rainbow boa, along with a few spiders and felt the odd mosquito! The provision of gumboots by the lodge was a great idea and we had bought ponchos, but fortunately it only rained when we were inside. We spotted grey and pink dolphins and several birds on our Day 2 trip. We did a jungle walk learning about the rainforest and the people living there, as well as the history of this special area. We visited an animal rescue centre, holding sloths, and tried some Amazonas medicinal products. Added bonus was that our second night was New Year's eve, and we celebrated appropriately - dancing with the local tribe who came to perform, had complimentary bubbles from the management and cocktails made by Franco. We stayed up till midnight having Camu camu followed by Salsa dancing, with some lessons from Franco for us kiwis. Even managed to go Piranha fishing the next morning. Great place with excellent staff.
