Went recently for a midweek Dinner Bed and Breakfast stay. Have to say we very impressed by all aspects. They are trying very hard in difficult times and succeeding on all fronts. In particular great front of house staff who are having to multi task and again, doing it very well. We look forward to our next visit. !
We visited early on Monday evening for our wedding anniversary, we were impressed by the ambience, service and the quality of the food. First time here but we will return soon. Thank you for noting our anniversary with the candle and dessert.
We have visited the Marquis a few times now and it is always our go to for ‘special occasions’. We were let down by the Unruly Pig for a 30th Birthday celebration for 6 and thank god we were. We booked at relatively short notice (the day before) and were happily accommodated. Upon arrival, we were told we would be inside but said we would prefer to be outside. They kindly made room for us on the benches by the lawn. The weather was beautiful so that all helped the experience of course. We have a one year old and it was such a comfortable place to be with her as she was able to have a wander down the hill before and after dinner (the views are incredible, even in winter!) The staff are professional, well dressed, and treat you with utmost respect but are relaxed and easy to get on with. You never feel unwelcome or judged. My husband and I shared the chateaubriand, cooked rare. It was perfect. So far, the best we’ve had anywhere. The food has always been amazing so we expected nothing less. Even on a busy afternoon, the service was excellent and we weren’t waiting long between courses or for drinks. As always, we came away with smiles on our faces, and probably a few lbs heavier!! Thank you to everyone at The Marquis who are always so kind, welcoming and make the experience what it is. We will be back soon. …
Revisit to The Marquis to celebrate my birthday after a previous overnight stay that had a couple of snagging points for the cost. This time we stayed for dinner and drinks in the restaurant and the food was exceptional as always. The service, which had been a sticking point for me last visit, was absolutely faultless with special mention to Will, who to me displayed every quality needed in a great manager. The outside staff seemed to work very hard as on a warm, sunny day everyone wants to sit on the terrace and enjoy the views across the Vale. The Marquis is an absolute stunning venue and we had a fantastic evening. I absolutely recommend visiting.
Delicious supper menu - the scallops and the tuna salad nicoise particularly good. Very good covid-sensitive service and thoughtful precautions, although a word of warning as to what changes they had made would have been helpful. Overall, well worth its consistent 5 star rating.
