A two hour guided tour of the savannah landscape, unexpected tropical forest, a huge natural arch and vast underground lava tubes. The guides are knowledgeable and helpful. There are two tours - an easier Archway experience and a more energetic exploration. The easier option is the best introduction, do the other one second if you wish. A couple of hundred...

We stayed 1 night in one of the train carriages. The carriage was beautifully renovated and clean. Our night was comfortable. We ate at the restaurant/bar; it was good food for a normal price although in our opinion the portions could be somewhat bigger. We attended the Archway Explorer Tour which was worth the trip to this remote land. However,...

Stayed for one night in the railway carriages. Highly recommend these. Very comfortable bed and excellent facilities No disturbance from the nightlife either! The guide for the tour, Harold, was very informative and passionate about the tour giving us lots of information about haw the tubes ere formed and the history of the national park. We arrived at Undara after dusty trip up from Hughenden. Was very impressed with reception, could not have more obliging. Most impressed with Railway Carriage Accomodation Enjoyed walk around camp area. Paid the $58 for the much anticipated tour of Lava Tubes. Next morning we headed up to catch the bus,I felt I was on a primary school excursion, all these little...

We stayed in a cabin on-site - with your own bathroom, queen bed, lounge and verandah. The cabin was very near to the eating area which was very handy. Wildlife is all around you and the bush is magnificent! make sure you go on at least one of the guided tours to the lava tubes. Daytime tours are great but...

This experience is worth it. You will need to book ahead. A bus takes you to the amazing lava tubes. Information about the place and environment is excellent. Great for adults and children alike. We yook 4 children between 6 and 11 and they lived it. Afterwards you can have a free drink and swim in the pool. Which you...

If you love nature/wildlife experiences, make sure you add Undara Experience to your bucket list. Undara is easily accessible - we drove a lovely 3.5 hours south west out of Cairns through the Atherton Tablelands. The lava tubes themselves blew my mind - and with the Savannah Guide sharing their knowledge it was awesome! I also did the wildlife at...

This must be one of the most beautiful places to stay, away from the crowds. Between sunset wildlife tour and bush breakfast, both well worth doing, we had a very nice dinner in one of the railway carriages, a truly great experience. We stayed on a powered site in our large (7m) campervan and watched wallabies running quite freely around...

The Undara experience is great. We checked into our (permanent) tents and squeezed in a refreshing dip in the pool before we headed out on the sunset wildlife tour. We saw Eastern grey roos, wallabies, wallaroos, kookaburras and bats before enjoying the sunset from a great vantage point with champagne and cheese. Dinner in the restaurant was good pub grub....

Staying overnight in the railway carriage was quite comfortable. I believe they have been renovated about 6 months ago. The staff were very helpful and friendly. In the morning there were some wallabies or small kangaroos outside the carriage which was lovely.

UNDARA EXPERIENCE – AUSTRALIA’S ACCESSIBLE OUTBACK! Only 3½ hours drive from Cairns and four hours from Townsville in Tropical North Queensland Australia, Undara can be easily accessed via the Savannah Way by conventional vehicle and is situated right on the edge of the Undara Volcanic National Park. The Undara Lava Tubes are a world class natural geological phenomenon. Huge tubes formed approximately 190,000 years ago; molten lava drained out under a thick cooler crust, leaving a series of long, hollow tubes. Today, Undara’s highly trained Savannah Guides conduct small group tours from the natural Bush Resort, into the lava tubes where visitors marvel at this incredible geological wonder.
