When you walk into the Old Bank B&B, you are greeted first with a lovely soft fragrance and soft soothing music, like an expensive spa. Then Miriam welcomes you with a beautiful smile. Ascending the beautifully carpeted stairs to the rooms, the fragrance and music accompany you. The rooms were a delight! Spacious and spotless. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was larger than most we encountered on our trip. Breakfast was very nice, fresh fruit, full Irish and tasty, flaky pastries. We were given a box to bring our leftover pastries with us. We enjoyed hearing the story of the renovation and the pictures of before, during and after. Clancy's was a short walk for dinner with good food and great Guinness. This was one of our favorite places to stay during our 2 week adventure in Ireland.

Ah Thank You Jeanne for taking the time to review our home. You certainly brightened up our Monday morning and gave us such a wonderful start to the week. We were especially delighted that you referred to us a B&B and you took note of the little things most don't see/smell. We are trilled that you classed us as one of your favorites too which is fab, but truthfully reviews like this are not just a reflection of our home, but reflects the guest who leaves it so Thank you for been a great guest x Fond Farwells Miriam & Family

Cool old bank converted to a B&B. The owner was warm and welcoming. If you book thru 3rd party, you should contact her and give her details for your breakfast (like if you're gluten free) so she can plan for your visit.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review our home. I totally get the frustration of travelling with food intolerances as my child had them when she was younger after surgeries. I will always have breads etc frozen in the freezer but if guest pre-reply to our confirmation email (where we ask) I will always ensure that I have more fresh products in house so that you can really enjoy your breakfast experiences at our home. I hope you had a wonderful holiday Miriam & Family The Old Bank B&B

Looking for a different place to stay on a business trip to Ireland, came across The Old Bank at a very reasonable price compared to all the chain hotels. Very welcoming from the very first moment, great room with comfortable bed and all the amenities that I needed. Local pub with decent food and beer and then a stunning breakfast with home-made pastries with the option to takeaway any leftovers - great cake for a mid-morning coffee!

My partner and I stayed at the Old Bank for three nights, and we had an absolutely lovely time. The place itself is every bit as beautiful as on the website photographs. The suite we stayed in was beautifully appointed and very quiet. The breakfast menu was one of the best we have ever seen in a B and B and many hotels. The home-baked pastries especially were a real treat. But more than anything, what made our stay special was the way Miriam, the owner, and her staff went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. They were all lovely people. We would go back to the Old Bank with great pleasure.

We had a warm welcome from Miriam, who at every point did her best to make our stay enjoyable. Bruff is a village full of history and one felt the atmosphere of days gone by in this lovely old, yet tastefully modernised building. Breakfast was thoroughly enjoyed, with Pat’s bacon and sausages, and Miriam’s freshly made muffins and breakfast pastries. As these were more than we could eat, she provided a lovely take-away box so we could enjoy them later in the day. We loved the Jacuzzi bath and the open fire in the reception library area. THANKS for a wonderful stay!

Incredibly, I was not even greeted on arrival. A blunt "check-in?" was all I was met with. Despite pre-registering on the company website I then was ordered to fill out an additional form with personal details including my company name, car registration, health status and so on. After receiving the keys, I went to get my bags from the car and when I came back in, the proprietor didn't recognise me, simply bellowing "check-in?" again. I was asked where I had parked and when I informed that I had availed of street parking, I was told I couldn't park outside the B&B or the shop next door as a delivery truck came every morning and wanted those spaces free. The room itself was okay, other than the fact that a door/closet was all that separated my room and the neighbouring room. As a result, I could hear everything going on next door. I would not wish to return to this establishment!

Thank you Tony for your review Normally a review like this would reduce me to tear, but I'm just going to say Thank You & Its ok. Your profile shows me you only leave one Star reviews for properties that are not hotels so I'm going to reply to your points as best I can for others who read it. Firstly we are a Bed and Breakfast and not a large multi national Hotel who offer faceless check in.. this simply wouldn't work in my home, because a B&B is a home and I do like to try and chat with my guests, offer dinner suggestions and places to add to their itineraries so apologies this caused you annoyances. We are fully aware that 70% of guest use the word hotel to find our family home and this year been busier than any other year is because our prices are 50 to 200% cheaper than our local city hotels. I have a very good paperwork system which you have called out as been a issue. Firstly the name you use here is not coming up on my system and match what you have described as your room stay, but this could be because your review name is not your true name. There's a thing in the word called GDPR and using third party booking engines such as booking.com doesn't provide us the accommodation provider with your email address etc. to send you a invoice for example. The Car number plate is because at least twice a week I will get asked about lights left on in cars and if it is one of our guests.. its a quick search to have these details..... Funny story one guest last month was been rude on check in ( happens more often than you realize) and said I didn't need his number plate or email address.. Well the following morning after leaving on his lights all night and now having a flat battery- (even though i was cooking breakfasts and checking other guests out at the same time) , it was now my issue to find him a person with jump leads and come to his aid. A few days later the same all knowing guest rang giving out he'd not received his invoice for a booking.com reservation ( we get no direct email address) Your health status is still important to us.. Had you answered yes to symptoms or having Covid - we take additional precautions cleaning your room and keep you on a room only reservation as to avoid other guest contact in our breakfast areas.. most reasonable people would understand this. Your right, after check in and payment is taken, you receive your keys ( a key for your room and a key to a guest front door) and so I can only imagine that you left said keys in your room on the second occasion and had to re-enter through the guest arrival door a second time. So let me explain a typical check in.. I can be doing any one of 3 scenarios , when the door bell rings my phone 1. May be at the check in desk checking in other guests / or office taking a phone reservation which neither is in view of the guest arrival door 2. I may be in the back laundry room, changing our a wash or trying to catch up on ironing ( this involves a sprint from the furthest point of the house , and usually involves me looking out for the cat, that I swear it trying to trip me up ) 3. I'm in our personal living areas, hopefully getting to eat my dinner Most involve a dash to the door as I release the door lock on my phone for guests to enter, Yes I do Say "Hi - to check in " as I arrive in into view on the opposite side of the room as you enter, because we are all too often mistaken for a restaurant also and it saves me mistakenly showing people to reception if they are not staying guests. I do apologies if i didn't recognize you immediately the second time in the lamp lighting by the door but yours truly has a a vision issue which unfortunely isn't down to a lack of glasses. In relation to parking we welcome up to 16 plus guests per night and I have the same sayings on repeat - " Parking is in front of our home, in our private courtyard at the back or across the street, We ask that no-one parks between the supermarket and the traffic lights in order for the supermarket to receive his deliveries in the morning, which prevents noise and allows vision for our guests to exit our courtyard " and should you have parked on the street i will also tell you its free parking with no time restrictions, it appears - what i said was clearly taken out of context. There are two separation doors between interlinking guest rooms, one for each guestroom to open, the same system you will find in any hotel who offer interlinking family room options also. As for not returning Tony, Such is your right and maybe our family run B&B is no match for a hotel, which you may feel more comfortable in and clearly prefer Kindest regards Miriam & Family

A fabulous stay! Miriam the owner has thought of everything. Spotlessly clean, comfortable, and welcoming. Our room featured a coffee and tea service, bottled water and glasses, hairdryer, and a custom binder of information and local attractions. Bathroom with fluffy towels, soap, lotion, and shower gel. Parking on the street or behind the building. Guests get a key to the building and their room. Don’t miss breakfast, especially if you are gluten free! Convenient to Shannon Airport, we will definitely be back!

Such amazing attention to detail and incredibly good value. Where else can you find out not only history of the hotel but the actual room I stayed in. I stayed as a room- only because I’m not a breakfast person. Wouldn’t stay anywhere else now to be honest, when near Limerick.

A colleague and I went on a short business trip to the area. The host company booked us at The Old Bank. What a gem! The rooms were spacious and spotless, the breakfast was amazing, and Miriam came out of her way to accommodate us and make our stay the best. On our last day we had to leave very early on a Sunday morning. Saturday night, she brought us a tray with food so that we could have breakfast on our rooms before departure. Looking forward to go back to The Old Bank and share some conversation during tea with Miriam.
