This was the first time at the hotel which as a 5 star hotel has it’s 5 star prices to go alongside it. However, you cannot place a price on feeling safe in these troubled times and we felt perfectly safe at all times as the standard of cleaning in the rooms, around the pool and in the restaurant was exceptional. As soon as someone got up from a sun bed or a table, they were cleaned immediately. The food and wine were of a very high standard and all staff were polite, courteous and helpful. If there was anything we would like to see improved it would be to have some background music on in the evening around the outdoor restaurant area but we understand that not everyone would want this.

a beautiful hotel, lots of space for that special quiet time, a great place to recharge .
private access to the beach but no wheelchair access,
yoga or pilates most mornings, not to early either, rooms are beautiful and very clean, fridge contents are very expensive, leave them alone, lovely little supermarket less than 5 minutes away from hotel. our only disappointment was the hot food was not very hot, and did not stay hot in the heated dishes, 1 tea light candle under a large serving dish full of veg was not going to do the job, but otherwise a lovely relaxing place to be

We stayed here on a Jet2 package holiday on a bed and breakfast basis. The hotel’s location is close to the beach and there are 151 steps down a gully between the cliffs to lovely sands. There are several local restaurants close by and a small supermarket. Albufeira, Vilamoura and Loule are each about a 20/25 minute Uber ride; a hire car would be advantageous to see more of the area.
Our holiday was curtailed by a day as we were expatriated early to the UK due to the Covid 19 issue. As this started to take hold the hotel (rightly) cut back on its facilities by first closing the spa and then its upmarket restaurant. The pools were also ultimately closed, although it was still possible to sit in loungers in the pool area. Throughout the process the hotel provided clear communication to keep guests informed. Under the circumstances the staff in the dining room for breakfast and also in the Blumm Bar were absolutely terrific. They always had a smile on their face and remained friendly and attentive. The buffet breakfasts were always good with a wide choice of foods. The bar food was tasty and the evening dining offered a wide option; many of the foods were rather rich, although clearly everyone has their own taste.
The hotel’s location is ideal for a restful vacation away.

We opted for half board. It was nicely cooked buffet but not a lot of variety.
A theme night Spanish / Mexican food would have mixed it up a bit. Uddo the Japanese restaurant was very good on half board you get a €20 credit off at the three restaurants on site. Live music most evenings very chilled by the bar and main restaurant. As others have said it’s tight they don’t include water at dinner . They do at breakfast. Not a veggie option each night. Rooms very clean. Strange open plan bathroom with glass WC compartment the top half clear. Who wants to look in or out ? Not great with older kids or holidaying with friends. They do a turn down service and leave a small plastic bottle of water and a chocolate each evening . The room toiletries are also individually packaged . It would save a lot of plastic if they used shower gel dispensers / glass water bottles. There is a supermarket over the rd. A couple of cafes and a Italian as well . Plus tennis courts . Lots of hotel pools . Including an indoor one. It’s easy to get a lounger and umbrella. Lunch was good in Open Deck by the hotel pool. The waiters were all very friendly and helpful. Special mention Paulo, Celia and Daniel who were outstanding.. The beach is public in Portugal so the hotel doesn’t have beach loungers. You can hire a lounger for €8 a day. It’s a five / ten minute walk from the hotel and down some steps to the beach and it is peaceful as well. There is a cafe with a loo close to the beach. We walked to the marina left out of the back of the hotel it’s a good hours walk along the beach or over the cliffs . We visited Albufeira it has many cafes, shops and a sandy beach. It’s about 45 minutes drive from Faro airport.

We have just returned from a 7-night break at Epic Sana, which was our first visit. Our time at the hotel was memorable and the stay exceeded our expectations.
We had previously stayed at the Lake Resort in Vilamoura and the Conrad Algarve, so we had a good frame of reference for what to expect from hotels in the area.
We had a garden view room on the 4th floor, which was very good (there probably is no benefit in booking a sea view room as the hotel is set back a little from the sea and is obscured by trees). The retractable panels at the bathroom make the room look very spacious. Covid measures are fairly well considered with temperature checks each morning before breakfast, staff serving you your food choices at breakfast and dinner buffets (as opposed to self-service), and similar measures. The staff are courteous and professional but not obtrusive, and the pool attendants are very willing to help and convey the impression that nothing is too much trouble. The decking around the pool is a very good surface and well maintained.
We had a hired car with us and parking is free. The hotel is a slight challenge to find on first arrival as there is no obvious main road to it, but we got used to this and it wasn't a problem after our first few excursions off the A22 motorway.
We ate in Lima (2 nights) and the buffet (2 nights) which were both very good but didn't get to Al Quimia. One big plus in terms of food is the fact that you can eat from a reasonably priced casual menu at the Open Deck (by the pool) and from the same menu at Bluum bar in the evening, so for example we had a great burger and fries at 10pm one night with our drinks.
It is difficult to find negatives really; the fact that you can smoke by the pool was unexpected for a 5 star hotel as other comparable hotels have designated no smoking areas by the pool, or better still do not allow smoking around the pool. A second negative is the fact that our room was not serviced on a few days by 4pm (the time we came up from the pool). The evening turndown service also started around 6pm so on certain days where was only an hour or two between both services, which was unusual. This didn't put us out much however as we just asked the cleaner for extra towels and water, but it was just something that we noted. The Algarve in August can be windy and this took the edge off the high temperatures (a little too much on one day!). We barely saw a cloud during our entire stay however.
Overall, the positives greatly outweighed the negatives. There is a well-stocked small supermarket across from the hotel entrance, and also a few restaurants (we didn't try these but heard the pizzeria was very good). Access to the beach was via a wooden stairway, which was lit at night and was lovely for a stroll at dusk. There is much to recommend Epic Sana and we fully intend to return, which is a good indicator of our satisfaction with our stay.

We had booked for June 2020 but we were cancelled so when Boris changed his mind there was only one place to go Epic Sana.
The flight out was a bit traumatic, the BA cabin crew did not enforce the mask wearing policy.
Picked up by Mr. Nuno at the airport and taken to the hotel where the greeting was as cordial as always. Check in was quick and efficient and then down to supper.
The restaurants were not overly full but the staff were working their socks off to comply with social distancing and doing what the hotel is renowned for,first class food and service.
Sun beds are socially distanced and after each use they are sprayed with a sanitiser and the tables are also cleaned.
At breakfast everyone is temperature checked before entering the restaurant.
All was as we expected and we felt very safe.
Back again next year when we hope that the pandemic is over and the buzz around the place is back.

This time was our fourth visit. We found it by chance in February 2015 when the hotel had only been open for three years. We have returned in April, September and now, again in February.
It is hard to put into words how special this place is. The facilities are excellent but the true value of this place is in its staff. I have never been to a hotel where the staff are as friendly or as attentive as they are here. It is well managed and the hotel and grounds are beautifully maintained (there are a few tiny tired areas after 8 years but way too small and insignificant to detract) There are five gorgeous pools with lots of sun loungers and seats. Fresh towels are at hand all of the time. But the beach is only a stones throw from the hotel with a well lit ‘board walk’ and steps down to the Atlantic coast.
There is an incredible dining experience in the Al Quimia which is out of this world but the normal restaurant Abayd have made some amazing developments since we last visited and the off season choices from an a la carte menu where stunning each night (in the height of the season you are usually served from an impressive buffet) Congratulations to the chefs. Delicious meals every night.
The waiting staff are fantastic with many of them speaking perfect English but are happy to help you learn Portuguese, they just can’t do enough for you and no request is too difficult for them to accommodate. On our last night, because it was our last night the gave us a glass of Port which was such a lovely touch.
The receptionists at the front desk are also friendly and accommodating and go above and beyond to make your stay fantastic.
We chose our stay to coincide with Valentine’s and to our surprise on the afternoon of Valentine’s day, there was a knock at the door and the lovely Customer Relations lady, Anastasia, arrived with beautiful gift from the hotel of a bottle of red and some some gorgeous chocolates in a presentation box!
We have had the most relaxing time, again and we just need to plan our next visit.
The management should be utterly proud of their staff.

Fresh towels are at hand all of the time. But the beach is only a stones throw from the hotel with a well lit ‘board walk’ and steps down to the Atlantic coast.
There is an incredible dining experience in the Al Quimia which is out of this world but the normal restaurant Abayd have made some amazing developments since we last visited and the off season choices from an a la carte menu where stunning each night (in the height of the season you are usually served from an impressive buffet) Congratulations to the chefs. Delicious meals every night.
The waiting staff are fantastic with many of them speaking perfect English but are happy to help you learn Portuguese, they just can’t do enough for you and no request is too difficult for them to accommodate. On our last night, because it was our last night the gave us a glass of Port which was such a lovely touch.
The receptionists at the front desk are also friendly and accommodating and go above and beyond to make your stay fantastic.
We chose our stay to coincide with Valentine’s and to our surprise on the afternoon of Valentine’s day, there was a knock at the door and the lovely Customer Relations lady, Anastasia, arrived with beautiful gift from the hotel of a bottle of red and some some gorgeous chocolates in a presentation box!
We have had the most relaxing time, again and we just need to plan our next visit.
The management should be utterly proud of their staff.

First trip back too Epic Sana for three years and really pleased to see that the high standards are still in place. We had a week staying in a deluxe double room with a pool view and had the same room as our last visit. Room was first class with really good air conditioning, an excellent shower and huge bed. Over looking the pool but set back in the gardens and good sound insulation although slight noise with next doors television. We had half board arrangement and found that the food was of good quality and varied and we had absolutely no issues with the restaurant. All staff we encountered were especially nice and helpful from cleaning staff, pool team, reception, bar and restaurant staff. Must single out Mariana for special mention also Jose and his colleagues. We twice had lunch at the Open Deck and this was really nice and we also ordered food and refreshments from there which was brought to us at poolside. No issues with sunbeds, pool staff we noted were quick to remove unattended towels where they had lain unused for long periods of time and freed up the beds. On our last visit here staff members would come round with Pasteis de Nata for guests during the day which was a nice touch and free of charge. Each day a tray of doughnuts was brought round poolside guests. Unfortunately the staff members made no mention of any charge and this was not made clear until after we were given them when they produced a charge pad to sign, very expensive. We walked along the beach every morning after breakfast, 125 steps down to the beach on pathway adjacent to the hotel and we walked for an hour in each direction, absolutely fabulous. We did find the hotel to be quite expensive when purchasing food or drink and I still believe that the additional daily charge to use the sauna/turkish facilities is a bit overkill, but that is hotel policy. There is a well equipped gym and an inside swimming pool which can be accessed and used without charge by guests. Evening entertainment was very chilled and generally singer or musician playing in the bar. All in all a very enjoyable week, sun shone throughout and we had a lovely time, we will hopefully return again.

We spent 6 nights in the hotel and had a wonderful stay despite the corona situation.
The hotel is located at the edge of a cliff about 50 m above the sea level and you may reach the beautiful beach on wooden well maintained stairs. The pool are really big, one is about 30m in length and all is very well maintained.
Our room on the top level had a terrace with sea view, tasteful furniture.
We had breakfast and one dinner in the hotel, which is provided in the „open“ section of one restaurant due to corona. However, this part is surrounded by transparent curtains which stop all wind movements. Body temperature is measured before entry and disinfection provided all around the hotel.

The vacation in the EPIC SANA Algarve Hotel was very relaxing. The rooms are clean and the food was delicious. Futhremore there was a big garden and the beach is near to the hotel. There are many pools, so you can swim without awful noises. This is excellent for relexation, because the resort is unbelievably big. They also have a fitness room with an indoor pool. It won`t get boring for adults, teenagers and children. The enviroment is outstanding and fascinating. You can go for a walk at the ocean. All in all the hotel and his enviroment is a nice place for families and couples. You can book tours, drive to cities and you can go swimming in the ocean.

Yes there are very spacious family suites towards back of hotel. Kids stay on sofa bed.
Hi, there are some local restaurants within a 5 minute walk which we tried and liked. One night we picked up an Uber and went a bit further afield to another local town that also had good bars and restaurants by the shore.
I’m not sure about a games room as our young adults were content in the grounds reading and playing backgammon.
It’s about 30-40 minutes from the airport - we booked a private transfer with BA
Lovely hotel and beach is 5 mins walk . We have stayed twice, the second time in September 21. Definitely noticed a fall in quality of catering. Also we got bumped and had our stay shortened due to hotel taking a corporate conference. We had been booked for 6 months and had 2 weeks notice that our stay was cut in half. We are not the only people this has happened too. Cannot recommend this hotel. We would not stay at this hotel again.
