Aparthotel Oceanus emerges as a favored destination, with its excellent location earning high marks from many visitors, despite the challenge of a steep hill. The staff garners acclaim for their outstanding service, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere that extends to karaoke nights.
Guests commend the spacious and clean rooms, although some report confusion over room selection. The hotel's value is further enhanced by reasonable pricing and praised amenities, though breakfast options and certain charges could see improvement.

Detailed Reviews
We had never been to Portugal before this holiday and really didnt know what to expect, in my head it would be alot like Spain where we have a holiday home but i was totally wrong! firstly Portugal is alot greener and also the people all speak English, extremely fluently! upon arrival at the hotel we were greeted by the receptionist who was extremely polite and welcoming and gave us all the details on our room. Upon entering the room we were really surprised by how large the room was, two single beds in the main bedroom with a large bathroom, including a walk in shower, a simple kitchen but extremely clean!! we were on the road side of the hotel which was fine but we noticied that our balcony would be in shade all day, as it was winter we thought that we would prefer a sunny balcony but if it was summer this would have been ideal to keep the apartment clean (it does have air con and heating throughout) we went back to the receptionist who said we could upgrade to a room on the other side ( we were on the 2nd floor) which had a very similar room but slightly smaller as the kitchen was seperate in the first room where as it was in the main room in the 2nd or we could go for the 3rd floor which was the same room but had a very large balcony including sunbeds. they let us look around both rooms before we decided for the 2nd floor ( we really messed them about but they were so polite and helpful) the room comes with hairdryer and also a soap dispenser at the sink and in the shower (hair and body) there is a kettle, toaster and four lots of plates etc. The beds were super comfy and the bedroom and the main room both had doors onto the balcony, so my wife and i could get up and sit outside without disturbing my son in the main room. The TV had bbc1, ITV, C4 and Cbeebies as well as local stations. The hotel had a lovely pool area which was serviced by a gentleman who ran the food and drink service who was lovely and extremely accommodating and the indoor pool was lush! one thing i would say though, and this seemed a cultural thing, was caps were required to be worn in the indoor pool and the Portuguese in the hotel seemed to just accept this so i think it must be the norm. I cannot priase this hotel enough and we had an amazing time and will definitely be back! i cannot actually think of any negatives at all.

Another great stay at these apartments. Immaculate apartments . Rooms cleaned daily and fresh towels daily' Apartments are really spacious and well equipped for self catering but we chose to eat out for our meals as great selection of good quality restaurants in the resort. Spoilt for choice. Felt really safe here with the current situation . Everywhere following strict rules. Everywhere we went tables and chairs cleaned and masks were worn in shops and other indoor spaces. All the staff at the Oceanus are really friendly and helpful. There is a great pool and snack bar too . Lots of space around pool. Resort is so relaxing. Looking forward to another return next year., Thank you.

Outstanding stay in The Oceanus. Our apartment had everything we needed and was much bigger than we had expected. Swimming pool area was lovely and we never had an issue getting sun loungers at any time of the day that we visited. Food in the snack bar was tasty and great value for money. Every member of staff that we met from the reception to the cleaners to the pool staff were very helpful and more importantly friendly and very full of great information they were willing to share. We hired a safe with a key which we found safer than a card and we also hired their beach towels which was very helpful for us as we didn’t have to worry about bringing towels on our flight. They even allowed us change the towels when we wanted and they were very reasonably priced. The indoor pool was a lovely break when I didn’t want to worry about sun cream on the kids and we always had it to ourselves when we visited there. We had a room overlooking the pool, it was called a sunny side room and we did have sun any time we went out there. The room was lovely and quiet and I would recommend this as the opposite faces a road. We found the air conditioning and wifi very good and we didn’t have any problems with either and we had a few devices working off the wifi. There were a good selection of English speaking channels such as channel 4 and the BBC amongst others which was nice to have in the evenings. The location of the hotel was ideal, only a few steps down to a couple of lovely bars and restaurants and only about 10 mins or less down a hill to the beach. We didn’t have issues coming back up this hill but I can see how people might find it a struggle as it was steep but there was a longer walk which avoided the hill. We really did enjoy our stay in The Oceanus and look forward to returning when we visit Olhos de Agua again.

Myself and my family arrived back from the Oceanus yesterday. It was booked knowing it was basic accommodation, however I must say the apartment was a decent size and had a lovely shower.
There are definitely a few things the resort needs to improve on.
The WiFi is terrible, drops out every second
When we first arrived we noticed how clean the apartment was, however we noticed during the week our beds were only changed once on day 6. My little boy had dropped something onto the bedding and the cleaner continued to remake the bed with dirty bedding which I was very surprised at.
We also noticed it just seemed like the beds were being made and the bins were being emptied, no proper cleaning during our week seemed to have been done.
The receptionist on our arrival wasn’t very informative, we weren’t told anything apart from our room number. We had to find the pool and find out days later that there was another pool Oceanus guests were allowed to use.
I found it abit odd that the pool was open to anyone. Your given a key card to enter the pool area, however you can just walk straight through the snack bar. I didn’t like the idea of anyone just walking through and the pool area not being very secure especially if you have little ones. The pool area is completely separate to the resort, it’s on my a very short walk across the way, however i don’t think I would have booked Oceanus if I’d known this.
The staff at the snack bar were lovely and very friendly.
The area itself is very quiet and we did struggle abit with this. We did go into Vilamora one night which was gorgeous and had so many options, I highly recommend going there.
Overall in the weird world we’re living in right now we were lucky to even get away, so for that it wasn’t a bad stay, I just wouldn’t go back there.

This was our second visit and we had a great holiday. It's not a luxury hotel but does the budget market excellently. Room is spotless and facilities are great. The indoor pool is a real plus in the winter and all the staff are helpful. The bar is small but has good range and super friendly bar staff. The restaurant beside the hotel had great food and was reasonably priced with great staff too. Tip - book a room on the resort side to get winter sun. Our room was road side and was disappointing that we got no sun. I asked to move but was an extra €50 per night so we stayed put as too expensive.
The walk to the beach is about 5 mins and local restaurants even closer. Suoermarket few mins walk. Taxi rank across the road. About an hours walk to Albuefeira old town and when the tide is out great beach walks around the rocks. For us it was wonderful. Reccomend fully.

Stayed here for 2 weeks
We arrived late in the evening and the jet2 bus drops you off on the main road across from the hotel so you have to walk across the road and down a small ramp . We were in room 202 which over looks the snack bar /large pool . The apartment was very big and had everything you would need for a self-catering stay we had a one bed appointment which has a Double wardrobe in the bedroom and one in the living room the rooms were cleaned every day and we had fresh towels every day as well the staff were very friendly and if you needed any information or help you only had to ask I would stay here again . Their are 2 pools a big pool which is across a small roadc and has a large snack bar in the pictures you can see white apartments which do not belong to the hotel there is a small pool which if you want peace and quiet then that's the one to go to plus we never had to get up early to get a bed as there were alway lots of empty ones and in the small pool you could go down at 9.30 and you would be the first down there the only down side to the small pool there is no snack bar but you can get drinks from the Mexican which is right next to it . There are restaurants with in walking distance to the hotel plus just down some stairs by the pool snack bar there are 2 restaurants and to bars which are very nice if you don't won't to walk far . The beach is about 15 minutes walk down a very big hill but you can walk the long way round if your not that fit . Over all we had a lovely stay and I would recommend this hotel .
The air conditioning is free but you pay for the safe which is only 29 euros and you get 10 back at the end of your stay .

Due to Corona, swapped Jet2 flights only to Alicante onto Jet2holidays package to this Aparthotel in Portugal. Room itself fine, apart from TV not working. However, its location was so disappointing to rear of hotel and balcony directly onto awful busy, noisy main through road. No chance of a peaceful break from the sun with a snack and drink. Requested a change of room but was told would be 15 Euros a day for the upgrade. reported to Rep, but couldn't help. In the end, our leaking air-con unit meant an H & S issue was reported by our cleaner and they moved us to the front for the last 2 days F.O.C.
Not enough information when reviewing the facilities/details to make an informed choice on whether you are OK with the price if, like ours, your room includes viewing the whites of the eyes of an Ice- Cream delivery truck driver trundle past with your morning croissant. I would highly recommend you ensure a room booked to the front aspect or a significant discount with a room at the rear. Coach transfer to go home collected us at 6.30am and got us to airport almost 4 hours before scheduled departure time. Apart from all that, resort quiet but lovely.

One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. The staff are excellent, tentative, knowledgeable and just so so lovely. We had a minor issue with the air con and the lovely lady on reception literally came straight to our room and gave us another key to keep in the air con throughout the day to keep the rooms cold. Another lady gave me fantastic advice about a nail salon and where I could go. One of the gentleman taught me some Portuguese and another didn’t laugh at me when I told him my card wasn’t working to get into our room, he took the card and I’d been trying to get into my room with my NHS ID!!
The hotel is in a fab location with a small supermarket around the corner and a few restaurants dotted very close by. Taxi into Albufeira costs under 10€ but wouldn’t recommend if you’re looking to relax.
The rooms are so spacious and super clean, ours have been cleaned every day. The pool is lovely and the little snack bar is lush, lovely food and has a lot to choose from. Also again, the staff are so lovely.
There aren’t many plugs in the rooms but that’s not a complaint. More of a warning for others to bring extensions maybe? The music can be a bit loud if you have a room on the ground floor but I found that closing the glass door helps block it out if you’re ready for bed.
Loved it so much we’re looking at coming back in September.

Hi Just wanted to let you know what to expect if travelling with a wheelchair, you will be well looked after by the staff, they're fab, direct phone access to the reception, just past the reception there is a large, lovely accessible room. The bathroom is equipped with a walk/roll in shower with red cord for emergencies. Could do with a picture of this on their site. Lovely powerful shower. No chair in the shower but its big enough for a wheelchair with turning capacity. Controls and small tray for toiletries is at wheelchair height. What's not at wheelchair height in the apartment are the electric plugs, a few at wheelchair height in rooms would be good. The apartment is large with plenty of space, a full kitchen, I couldn't reach the sink, and a kettle. Table and chairs and bed settee, bit low for wheelchair. Room view is of main street and above the bar. I couldn't access the 2 balconies due to the large step, I thought a ground floor apartment here would lead onto a grassy area, like in pics, only grassy area is by pool. Pool area is manageable with wheelchair, no hoist just the regular metal steps, lovely snack bar. It is a hilly area, you have to be with a good 'pusher' and stay on the road, access to the shops isn't easy, all ramps are steep, but it's doable. I wanted to get to the beach so I hired a mobility scooter from Algarve mobility, please shop around, the scooter I originally booked was compact, when I saw it, I was surprised to see it was a bit old fashioned compared to ones I'm used to, I mentioned this to the company member who delivered it, and he told me that 'I can go somewhere else if I want', wish I had. By the end of the day, I realised the scooter was not suitable for me, or the Algarve roads, so I contacted the company and told them I was struggling with the scooter and asked if I could change it to another type, they told me they were fully booked, I didn't have a spare £95 euros to book another one. So, the scooter stayed in the apartment and turned into a towel rack for my Ronaldo towel lol I didn't get to the beach. Please shop around.

All staff at Oceanus had great attitude towards customer service and were friendly.
There were on the ball every time, made us laugh and welcoming
during this covid period is a extra plus point.
They booked all the events for us with timing taxi service for going
to the places and for the return journey. Outside taxis cost a bit more running on meter. The shuttle service from airport and was smoothly done.
Breakfast was good and the staff was excellent, friendly and hard working.
At the end of it all, we liked them so much that we didn't want to
leave but our holiday was finished.
I would recommend to all to Alhos De Agua in Alburferia to enjoy a very hot summer holiday.
The swimming pool was shining under the sunlight and everybody enjoyed the dip.
On the other hand, they need to improve on the recevability of a stronger regular WiFi and change breakfast to have different variety like more fruit, sausages, chips and beans.
Although this breakfast we received may have been given due to the lack of coved flexibilities.
Thank you to Rafael, Jacklyn (very funny lady), Paula, Marinisa and canteen / bar worker. Both taxi ride drivers on the airport shuttle.

There were pots, pans, plates and cutlery. I cannot comment on how many as I only used the wine/beer opener!
Our superior studio was on the end of the block in the main building overlooking the Mexican restaurant.
I don't know the location of the other superior studios.
Yep but there are different routes to take to avoid cardiac hill (as it’s known). Also you can easily get to Maria Luisa beach from Oceanus which is a much bigger beach than Olhos beach. I am staying at Oceanus myself late April.
