Given the coronavirus crisis we did not know what to expect but we had a truly wonderful holiday thanks to this exceptional hotel.
Ask for a sea view because there can be few better views in Portugal, it is exactly as the photos look. The steps down to the fantastic beach are a joy, the pools are just perfect and there is a brand new playground for kids in the shade...plus tennis.
Olhos de Agua town with a few bars etc is easily walkable if not so exciting, but it was corona time so things were obviously quiet.
The hotel had done a lot of work making itself Covid ready. All staff had masks all the time and washed hands lots etc etc.
The breakfast and dinner buffet is a bit frustrating as you have to point at what you want but this is only because of corona and I'm sure normally it is fine (the servers need to learn how to make decent coffee while corona persists!). Portuguese food is not the best but the restaurant setting is idyllic.
There are lots of managers milling around making sure they get the Covid response right and the normal staff work extremely hard including the lifeguard, pool bar boss (great for lunch) and bar boss. No children's disco due to Covid but there is a games room (which stole some of our money) and easy listening singers in the evening.
Our seaview apartment was nicer than other reviews had suggested (seems the Garden apartments have been renovated more recently.) It was ageing a bit, the wardrobe door could not open properly, the plug point for the kettle was in a ludicrous place and the bed was a bit hard but otherwise it was great (and very very few mosquitoes).
I don't quite understand why the Mar and Garden are marketed as different. They are exactly the same hotel (with a road running through the middle but with no traffic at all - just for guests' cars.). Calling the combined thing a beach resort is also a bit weird.
There is just one reception (uniquely in a separate building away from the rest of the hotel) and everyone was extremely friendly. We don't tend to go back to the same places but we might make an exception for the wonderful Falesia Mar

We stayed in one of the ‘traditional’ apartments. I found the apartment size to be great. The kitchen area was very clean & so were all the plates, cups, glasses etc…
However…..the bathroom was awful! It was dark, dated & had no window or extractor fan which meant that it smelt damp all the time. There was also a stale smell of urine as the toilet appeared to have a bit of a slow leak. Housekeeping was not good either! We started the week with female cleaners which were great but then make cleaners started coming & honestly, they were useless!! Just did the bare minimum & left.
There was a huge TV in the lounge & it had loads of English channels which was perfect when we had a couple of drizzly mornings.
We stayed half board. The breakfast was fantastic! So much choice. Dinner was also good but it appeared to have a weekly menu & as we stayed for 12 nights we found it quite boring having the same meals second time around….
I have to follow a gluten free diet & found the main dining room very good. Everything was labelled & there was always at least one gluten free dessert. At breakfast there was always a gluten free cake available which was amazing & something I’ve never experienced anywhere that I’ve travelled to. I was so impressed!
The poolside restaurant was a huge disappointment as apart from salad there was nothing gluten free for me. No chips, no rice, no potatoes. Nothing!! I was very disappointed. Because of this my family went out to eat pretty much every afternoon. I was also disappointed with the fact that the hotel sells tiny 330ml bottles of water for €1.50! These bottles are for children under 5 - NOT grown adults! The restaurants on the beach sold 500ml bottles for the same price so we just went there or bought some from the supermarket.
Evening entertainment was horrendous! The worst we’ve seen by far…..
We would’ve purchased more drinks from the bar if it had been something worth watching…..but instead we just went back to our room.
I should also add that the furniture on the balcony was old & filthy!! That wouldn’t be acceptable in a hostel - never mind a 3 star hotel.
I’ve scored this review 4/5 but in all honesty a 3.5/5 would’ve been more appropriate.
The views of the beach are really what sells this hotel. I did enjoy myself but I definitely wouldn’t return,

We were overwhelmed with how brilliant this hotel and its staff were. We were cautious about the idea of staying in a hotel as we usually like our own space, but we were so pleased with our room and it’s facilities. The rooms are big with plenty of space and equipment; a kitchen equipped with all you need, a large living space and good sized bathroom and bedroom. The beds are firm but we both slept very well on them. The restaurant and bar are extremely well run and have more choice than you could wish for - the food is fresh and delicious with new choices each day! The location is wonderful: the sea views from the cliffs, surrounding small towns and brilliant pool are beautiful and easy to explore. Most of all, we appreciated the incredible staff more than anything. They are always so friendly and willing to help whilst constantly working hard to make your time enjoyable. Very happy with our stay and planning to return some day!

We stayed here at the beginning of August and we’re pleasantly surprised at just how nice the hotel complex was. We had an apartment and although the interior was dated it was very clean and massive with everything we needed! The views from the pool and bar area were beautiful with steps down to the beach which was never crowded. We had breakfast included and the buffet was impressive with so much choice from pancakes to fresh fruit and granola and a fry up for those who want one.
The hotel is located in a quiet area but there’s buses and reliable taxis around that took us to dinner each evening and we enjoyed being away from the business of a typical resort centre!

We booked late due to possible quarantine restrictions being imposed. The hotel is wonderful. We were checked in but the room was not ready. We were contacted by reception whilst having lunch to inform us it was available.Great service. We felt very secure. All possible precautions were taken to ensure our safety None of which detracted from our experience. Breakfast, pool and beach access were a delight. When we had to leave early due to government imposition the hotel insisted on refunding our last two nights. This decision oozed class and I urge you to avail yourself of this establishment’s facilities as soon as possible. Thank you 3HB .....

Best views we have had from a hotel absolutely stunning. From room, pool, bar and restaurant the sea, pool and cliffs just mesmerising!! The food in restaurant for dinner is very fresh and varied and sitting in the outside area with balcony just off is fabulous. Live music every night in outdoor bar area 9-11pm and setting is lovely. Kids enjoying the pool and games room. Olhos de agua resort is a 10 minute walk down hill but not a lot to do in the resort and the bar and restaurant in falesia mar is actually nicer and better views from anywhere in the square tbh! Definitely a quiet resort and hotel but feels very upmarket lots of Portuguese here. Can’t fault it. Short walk down stairs to beach 🏖 would highly recommend if your looking for a hotel that is half board, stunning setting and fairly quiet. We have a sea view room which is above the bar so you do hear the music until it stops at 11pm but other than that all good and view from balcony worth it. Not sure hotel is suitable for self catering as no supermarket nearby and only a few restaurants toward resort and at square but the half board option is definitely worth it!! We will be back! We also went to aqua show park for the day kids loved it lots of big rides and Vilamoura one night for dinner nice to see the marina. Reception can call taxis for you. Waited 3 years to get here due to covid and so glad we didn’t book somewhere else!

Me and my partner booked this hotel for an 8 night stay in July and my only regrets are not booking longer and not upgrading to a deluxe room, not because there was any issue with a standard room but because if the standard room was as nice as we experienced, I’d love to see the deluxe! First of all the organisation of the hotel was excellent, plenty of friendly staff on site all doing different jobs who really make you feel like they want to do their upmost best to provide you an amazing service, the rooms very tidy almost felt like we were at home with the kitchen and the comfy sofa bed in the living room! Bed was slightly hard not the best mattress to sleep on but that’s to me being fussy, maids do a fantastic job to keep your room spotless day in day out, even folded our clothes for us which was not expected at all! Our balcony had 3 swallows nests in them which caused them to constantly fly onto the balcony and quite close to you everytime, at first I couldn’t relax with how many were constantly coming to the balcony, I reported to hotel and they offered to swap rooms in the end just got used to the swallows and ignored them but if someone has a phobia of birds this would certainly be a problem as there was a lot of them around the hotel and we spotted other nests on other balconies, the standard balcony was shaded away from the sun so if you want plenty of sunbathing on your balcony again this could be a problem! Book sea view! We booked on a half board basis to avoid the low standard of food all inclusive offers and it was the best decision, we usually find ourselves booking all inclusive and eating out every day after day 1, but not here we didn’t want to miss out on what Falesia restraunt was serving! The breakfast is absolutley amazing, plenty of choice but we couldn’t resist the traditional english breakfast every day! The dinner again plenty of choice, from local portuguese dishes, to english dishes, sushi, vegan food etc etc… A fabulous variety with different options every night and a stunning cliffside view to eat your food if you sit outside. Always sun loungers available any time of the day but half the hotel was being renovated so this did help, I feel like it would be quite hectic if it was fully booked. The beach again beautiful, but not quite clear waters like we were hoping, quite musky and we were hoping to snorkel but couldn’t see a thing, the steps down to the beach could be a slight issue for older people or people with disabilities but for ourselves they weren’t a problem, just needed a breather when we got back up 😅. Obrigado to the best holiday hotel we have stayed in as a couple. We will be back with our little one in years to come that’s for sure. Goodbye for now 3HB Falesia!

We stayed in one of the apartments. The view from the balcony was the pool and as much ocean as I believe you can get from this complex. The grounds were immaculate and absolutely beautiful. The staff was friendly and English speaking, although when we spoke Portuguese, they also spoke Portuguese. That’s where the positives end. The apartment was very dated and the kitchen while it had dishes, silverware and some cooking things, there was no dish soap to clean the dishes. Additionally, there was no coffee pot or the basics, think salt and pepper. If you are planning on using the kitchen be prepared to bring or buy all the essentials. The beds (2 twins and not a queen) were extremely hard and the sofa was a concrete slab with cushions. Although, it was more comfortable than it looked. The sliding door to the balcony did not lock, which was okay in theory since we were on the 3rd floor and it would have been difficult to enter. Also, there were gaps in the bedroom window frame between the slider, so with wind they rattled. I think management needs to update the interiors of the rooms and at a minimum get a Nespresso in the rooms. The design of the bedroom prohibited the use of the drawers in the closet and the nightstands only had one functioning drawer. Overall, the view and staff were good but the interior of the room was sorely lacking.

We visited as a couple with our 10 month old and couldn’t speak more highly of the hotel and staff.
The views from the pool area, bar and restaurant are spectacular and the position on the cliffs means there is usually a nice breeze. The sun loungers are big and comfy and there’s loads of space, it never felt crowded. There is a separate children’s pool and a brilliant new play area. It’s really well set up for families but we would also have been very happy here as a couple.
Definitely pay the extra to have breakfast included! There is a great selection of fruits, yoghurt, cooked breakfast, continental breakfast including loads of meats and cheeses plus staples such as toast and cereal. We didn’t eat at the hotel in the evening so can’t comment on that, but the pool bar lunch food was really high quality, plus the service is quick and they have high chairs on offer. The ice cream was also delicious!
The rooms are fairly basic but absolutely huge, which we appreciated as a family. The kitchen was well stocked for me to put together food and snacks for our baby. We found the beds comfy and loved the black out curtains. However I’d recommend taking your own hairdryer.
The walk to the beach is quicker and easier than we expected as it’s down steps, the beach is spectacular and really spacious. However we loved the pool area so much we didn’t go as much as usual. It’s a short walk in to the town centre and although it’s small, there are plenty of options for dinner and drinks for a 10 day holiday and we had some great food. On one of the backstreets toward the supermarket there’s also a great little bakery.
The staff make the hotel what it is. Everyone we met was incredibly kind, friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond to make sure all the guests felt safe (the COVID precautions were excellent) and welcome. We would definitely come back. Thank you.

Loved it..
Friendly, professional staff.
We had a great view from the top floor..but there isn't a lift..so be prepared for lots of steps to burn off the delicious breakfast!
The pool bar does great food for lunchtime snacks and a brilliant selection of ice cream to try. My favourite was the coffee flavour!
The pool is perfect for children and there was never a shortage of sunbeds.
The hotel is a short walk to the beach down a lot of steps direct from the pool.. with gated access.. there are seats to rest on during the climb back up..but it's not that bad.
The village is a 10 minute walk down hill with another fabulous beach to visit and lots of restaurants and bars to chose from.
Would definitely return.
