Small property with 20 ocean view rooms. Rooms are modern, fresh and spacious. Nice outdoor balcony with chaise lounges. Amazing breakfasts daily. Great cocktail and lounge with a chill atmosphere. Ten minute drive to Lagos. Small pool and located on a golf course. Good customer service. Adults only with a very peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip to the Algarve.
We stayed in room 205, arriving 24 September and departing 27 September. The property was easy to find using ApplePlay guidance. The property is is stunning. It is a very large sprawling complex with villas, town houses, golf courses and a small hotel. Parking is right outside the entrance making it easy to pack, unpack etc. The gorgeous professional landscaping suits the environment and extends throughout the property. Check in was easy ( we booked on Booking.com) and help was offered to carry our luggage. We had a welcome drink which is nice but when I ordered another rather than adding it to our room bill, I was asked to pay right then and there. That was strange. Our room was small but beautifully appointed and immaculate. The cleaning staff paid attention to detail. The room was serviced 2X daily and a treat was left on the bed. Since storage was somewhat limited ,this required a bit more effort to keep the room neat and tidy. There was a desk behind the bed but not in view and a couch for separate seating. The room had a lovely balcony overlooking the golf course and out to the beach, the ocean and the town of Lagos. Thankfully the bed faced the view so credit to the designers! Each balcony is private with 2 chairs and a table. The bed was comfortable and climate control easy. There were no USB ports but enough outlets to use an adaptor and chargers. Be sure to bring those since USB ports are not common in Portugal. The bathroom was nice…good shower, water pressure, plentiful towels, robe, slippers, toiletries, hair dryer etc. Breakfast was very nice. The dining room has large windows and sliding doors for both inside and outside eating. The breakfast starts with a 3-tiered plate with meats, cheeses and sweets on separate layers. A bread basket with a very good assortment is also provided. In addition juices and coffee etc are served. There are also choices included from a menu. The eggs were excellent. This was actually a welcome change from a buffet. We had dinner at the hotel and although the food was good and nicely presented the menu was very limited and it was a bit of a challenge to find something we wanted to eat. The concept was a bit fussy and also overpriced. Service was very good. We drove into Lagos each day . The drive is very easy and parking in Lagos equally so. It would have been nice if we were made aware of other eating options on the property itself. We did find a booklet in a drawer when we were packing to leave that outlined particulars of the hotel as well as dining options. We do recommend this property…especially if you play golf. We did not have time to do so nor did we use the pool or beach. We needed more time! Compliments to the staff. …
We stayed at the hotel for a week mid September in order to guarantee tee times & a buggy for our golf games which was very well organised by our golf booking agency. The situation of the hotel is perfect overlooking Meia Prai beach/ Lagos Bay & over to Alvor Bay & the mountains. The design of the hotel is lovely, modern, peaceful and all bedroom facilities are very good re quality & supply. However lots of elements missing- not 5 star are —- butter & preserve portions at breakfast, paper napkins, cheese & ham of the plastic non flavoured variety, tables outside are not large enough to provide space for all crockery etc at breakfast/ items served on cake stands- most peculiar including your fruit! Hot dishes were good - all the staff are very pleasant but there seems to be very little enthusiasm from any of them - the hotel lacks a soul ! Swimming pool in poor condition/ tiles coming off/ NO handrails at all therefore not safe - only 4 shade umbrellas for 20 rooms?? - I saw people going into the bar from pool to order drinks & taking these back themselves — - sorry —- staff should have delivered the drinks to quests - very poor service! We ate on two occasions - food / service was pleasant/ atmosphere zero - on. Friday evening at that time they had live music & a buffet type dinner service— not advertised to guests - only found out when arrived at reception to go out to a local restaurant- had we known we may have stayed - very poor marketing - information should have been in the hotel reception area previous day???? From my perspective there would appear to be no General Manager/ Manager — I’m not surprised because a 20 bedroomed hotel of this type could not sustain the salary attached to the position- this is where the hotel falls short of a good solid Manager/ Supervisor to install some enthusiasm to the staff - this would give the hotel some life. Understand that adults, as we are, come for peace & quite which is guaranteed in the situation but a little more life around the establishment / staff training & a re check of required 5 star standards need to be carried out - by whom??????? …
Stayed 4 nights recently and loved the hotel. Beautiful views and nice rooms with porches/balconies. Staff very polite and helpful. Breakfast was good. Liked the location with a rental car to be able to drive East or West to nearby towns and beaches. Would definitely stay here again, really better than anticipated.
We have just returned from a few days spent in the delightful serenity that is the Palmares Beach House Hotel. I think I have never stayed at a hotel that has delivered so well on my expectations. The ‘adults only’ policy encourages a peaceful calm at all times and often the only sound one could hear was the breeze and the sea on the shore. The hotel is strikingly modern with abundance of glass (including the loo doors mentioned in other reviews). The bedroom was large and comfortable with a huge bed, full size bathtub and rainfall shower. The large balcony overlooking the sea offered ideal space for private sunbathing as an alternative to the loungers beside the pool. Public areas are comfortable and well maintained and the comprehensive & tasty, included, breakfast can be taken on the terrace, in the restaurant or in your room. Optional lunch & dinner are available in the restaurant and all of the food was fresh and clearly made of quality ingredients. The hotel is isolated (huge benefit) being in the middle of a golf course and, whilst other reviews say a car is essential, I think one could potentially get by with Ubers which seem readily available and cost, for example, only 10 euro for a one-way trip to Lagos. If you do have a car there is ample free parking at the hotel. The hotel provides golf buggy transport to the beach as and when required and also has a selection of golf clubs etc. that residents can borrow to try out the golf course or adjacent driving range. There is nothing more that any of the hotel staff could have done to make my stay more enjoyable - I found them all to be engaging, cheerful and helpful, all of the time – thanks for the excellent, attentive service. Worth noting that most of the local restaurants seemed very busy and I would recommend booking in advance where possible. With 500+ restaurants nearby, we sought guidance from hotel reception staff who recommended several local hidden gems which were excellent. VERY highly recommended for anyone seeking a peaceful and relaxing break – I will be returning, hopefully soon.…
We absolutely enjoyed staying here. The views are STUNNING, and it is the main reason to stay here. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. We loved to have breakfast on the terrace. Service was great and you get tons of different food options. Try the waffles…they are amazing. We also liked going up to the clubhouse for lunch. The clubhouse has a bigger menu than they offer at the hotel. The clubhouse also has fantastic sweeping views. They advertise it as a 5 star hotel, but I really feel like it is more like 4 stars. The furniture in the rooms seemed a little ‘Ikea’ to me. Our couch had stains on it and looked pretty worn. The bed wasn’t the most comfortable, but it was just fine. The pool is literally falling apart with the tiles all falling off and cracks in the deck. The lounge chairs aren’t the most comfortable either. With that being said, we would absolutely stay here again. There are only 20 rooms, so it never felt crowded, and it was a lovely experience. The value for the money was fantastic, and the view…just gorgeous. It was a quick 10 minute walk to the beach (uphill on the way back), and only took 10 minutes to drive into Lagos. Great hotel, wonderful experience, definitely recommend.…
I recently stayed at the Palmares Beach House Hotel for a week with my wife and her family. My wife’s family have been going to the Algarve since the 70’s so it was very much a trip down memory lane. In fact my mother in law remembers Palmares Golf Club when it was first opened inn1975 and the clubhouse was a hut ! Onto the review…. We had the most amazing week and the stand out employee for us was the lady on the front desk whose name escapes me… she has worked there since the hotel opened and was so pleasant, helpful and was always willing to listen to our observations/suggestions. Things management should look at to make this hotel even more special: Bar nibbles were not good.. all that was on offer (and at the Golf Clubhouse) was Popcorn. Some lovely local Almonds/nuts would have been nice. Popcorn is so boring and for children ! More choice of soft drink on the menu .. all that was on offer was Coke, Fanta etc. It would be nice if the hotel offer things like fresh lemonade etc. Also it would be nice to have on offer some nice non alcoholic cocktails on the menu… Breakfast was a bit all over the place with the staff struggling to keep up with the orders. It should also be noted there were only two staff working which put huge pressure on them. It felt they were a little inexperienced and sometimes certain things took a long time to come. Each table is given a metal basket which has a selection of pastries and fruits etc but these take so much space on the table and often much of the food is not eaten and goes to terrible waste as it gets thrown away. It would be much better system to have a nice full buffet where guests can serve themselves and would greatly help the staff who has I said were definitely struggling most mornings with the orders especially when it was a full turn out. Dinner at the hotel lacked atmosphere and it felt like you were sitting out having breakfast again! It such a beautiful setting that more effort should be made at night to make everything look more romantic etc. Table cloths and candles would be a nice touch and nice soft music. It just lacked ambiance that you would expect from a five star hotel given the beautiful location. It would have been nice if the Manager had made himself known to us and the other guests just to check we were ok and happy with everything. Pool is lovely but some repairs are still needed with cracks etc. I think stronger umbrellas could be provided. The sunbeds need long sun cushions as just having a towel is rather uncomfortable. Golf club was amazing but feel the staff could be more forthcoming… often we had the same staff as we had for the breakfast at the hotel. Overall we had an amazing stay but I just think it was lacking in the areas I mention. One major concern is that from what I was hearing the hotel is soon to become part of JW Marriott which would mean this hotel being part of a bigger hotel and thus losing its small personal exclusivity. I am also assuming that children would then be allowed which would be a game changer as at the moment not allowing children is a blessing as it is so quiet. Also this will mean a lot of building will start to take place. It should also be noted that there is also lots of other construction going on behind the hotel with the building of the Signature Appartments and Villas. A great trip though.…
We stayed 1 night in the hotel because of our diner at Al Sud. Great location and beautiful views. If we are a bit critical for us this is not really a 5 star hotel. Rooms are big enough but you feel a bit like IKEA furniture. Staff was very nice. Breakfast was a la cart and nice. Overall the price - quality was good so we will go back if we are having dinner again at Al Sud.
The hotel is extremely comfortable and the staff could not be more pleasant. The dinner menus are not extensive but the food and wines are very good indeed. The hotel is two minute walk from 27 holes of the best golf in Portugal. Also, the rooms look out over the golf courses and the ocean. A magnificent view. We stay there three or four times a year. And there are no screaming children allowed, which is important as it is a small hotel and there are no facilities for children. Paradise!!
A hotel and resort made for those looking for a classic comfortable experience with just the right amount of decadence. The staff are wonderful, humorous, and good natured. Exploring the Algarve is easy and accessible with a vehicle. The in-house restaurant is delicious and comfortable. Late night dinners overlooking the ocean with wine recommendations from the region mark a highlight of our time spent in the resort. Many folks were there to play golf, but the resort offers a shuttle to and from the beach, though they won’t pick you up after dark. Our attendant forgot the time of sunset and agreed to leave us until after it was gone - the beach is so worth a sunset swim, with covered beach chairs and a bar a short walk away from the drop off point. We were able to pick up multiple bottles of wine and enjoy the evening by the waters. Housekeeping staff is detail oriented and attentive to our needs. In-house mini bar is not overly expensive and offers a defined set of amenities. Breakfast on the patio overlooking the pool was exceptional, with a variety of individual pastries, meats, cheeses, jams, fruit, all served to your for your picking. You can then order a small selection of hot dishes that fare from good to ok quality. If you’re looking for a comfortable place to call home while in the Algarve, look no further. We found it to be the perfect level of quality and detail while not overbearing us with reasons to stay in. The pool was great for a quick refresh in between stops across the countryside.…
