"I was slightly concerned on booking this hotel, simply because the price was so cheap. The term 'You pay peanuts, you get peanuts' came to mind once or twice. However, when I arrived at the Pinus Ria i was amazed at what exceptional value for money the hotel was. Rooms were more than comfortable - some of the best nights sleep of my life! - and the complimentary breakfast was great too. Our room was 5 metres walk from the pool and sunlounger area and parking outside our room was always available. Don't be fooled by thinking that the sauna, gym, turkish baths etc is free to use for guests as it is not! It is privately owned so there are charges for all its facilities, however, staff there are more than helpful and friendly and the facilities are all state-of-the-art. Probably the best thing about this hotel other than its value for money is its supurb location in Quinta La Lobo. Rent a car and experience all the beautiful golf courses, up-market shops, exquisite restaurants and tranquil beaches all a short 5 minute car journey away. Overall, i highly reccomend this hotel, for families, friends and lone-travellers alike. While it may not be one of the many 5* hotels around the area charging an arm and a leg, the Pinus Ria is exceptional value for money and you are guaranteed a great, enjoyable holiday in this beautiful area of the Algarve. I will no doubt be returning in the near future!" Amy Beard

I would thoroughly recommend this hotel! We booked last minute and were not sure of the location to amenities but it really surpassed all expectations.

The resort centre of Quinta do Lago is only 400m away from the hotel but as is common in the algarve there are no pavements! This proved a little precarious when walking after dinner. The shops are beautiful but way of of our league (Rolex, Maxmara, Boss etc - my husband loved it as I didnt buy anything for a change). The resaurants in Quinta do Lago are numerous (but not cheap) and covered a wide range of tastes - Thai, Indian, Italian, Chinese, Irish so their was plenty of choice every evening.

Getting back to the hotel, I would say it was a good quality 4 star with a small but immaculate pool area (towels provided) and a tasty buffet breakfast. The rooms do not face the pool and either face the car park or a walkway. They are all easily accessible to the pool and have balconies to sit out at. The rooms are well maintained and are cleaned daily. The only critisim would be the noise as people climbed stairs to their rooms if you are in an end room. The walls were pretty thin and you could here the TV on in the next room and heels tapping from the room above.

I would definately recommed both the area and this hotel if you are looking for a relaxing and beautiful location for your holiday. Do not be concerned that the prices of this hotel seem less pricey than others in this exclusive area - you are getting real value for money. Hiring a car for a few days is also a great way to experience the area and see all the million pound + villas in the surrounding area. Villamoura, Vale do Lobo are only a few of the lovely resorts close by and only 10-15 minutes away by car.

Difficult to understand why a any developer would build what is basically a motel, several miles off a main road and half way between and immediately adjacent to, two of the most prestigous housing / golf developments in Europe ( Val Do Lobo and Quinta Do Lago ). This possibly accounts for the very few residents when we were there. However we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The pool area is small and may become a little crowded if the hotel is busy but when we were there, the ambience and service was superb, resembling that of a private members club.

The rooms are rather small but functiional and were kept immaculate by the efficient house staff. We only used the restaurant one night but the food was excellent and reasonably priced. Breakfast is adequate with a good selection of hot and cold food.

The overall service was fantastic. Speaking to the new owners, they advised they have major plans to alter the format of the hotel. However, we can definately recommend it, even its current form and will certainy return.

Room very small and basically/cheaply furnished.

The swimming pool was closed and despite the hotel being virtually empty we were allocated a room with a view of a wall.

The buffet breakfast was very poor quality -cold and looked like it had been hanging around for quite a while.

Have stayed several times at the Formosa Park - a far better option

We have just returned to England after an excellent week at the Pinus Ria. Before choosing this hotel I must have spent 3 solid evenings looking for somewhere on the Algarve that suited our needs. It was the Pinus Ria that came out tops both from Trip Advisor and their own Website. Pinus Ria is about 20 minutes from Faro Airport and as far as I know is not accessible by public transport. We chose to hire a car and the directions given on the hotel website made it easy to find. It is situated just outside the town of Almacil near to the Quinta Do Lago village. We drove to Lagos in about an hour on the N125 road. Albufieira is about half an hour away. If you like golf, this is the area to stay for you are surrounded by golf courses. Nevertheless it is only 5 minutes (by car) from the beach. If you are not a golfer, you can play tennis at the hotel or go horse riding from a stable just up the road. The Quinta Do Lago Shopping Centre is ten minutes walk along the road. There is an abundance of restaurants in the area including several overlooking the beach. Be sure to pick up a freemap as the the roads in the area are more detailed. You can easily get lost on the numerous esates of beautiful villas. Now I've given you an idea of the area I ought to speak of the hotel itself. The first part you see of course is the reception and what a welcome we got! Here we had a polite professional gentleman who explained everything about the hotel. We were directed to our room which was as described on the website. We found the room very clean and comfortable (although the pillows were hard). We were disappointed with the TV that only had 5 or 6 channels. Only one English speaking (which was the US Finanical prog!). The bathroom was very good and the wardrobes were spacious. The room had Air Conditioning , telephone and well stocked fridge (which we didn't use). The breakfast was excellent -plenty of cerials, fruits, hams and cheeses, yoghurts, toast, fruit juice and coffee. When we go on holiday we like to sample a different restaurant for dinner each night but after choosing the hotel restaurant on our first night , it was so good we went back on a further two occasions. The prices were very competitive with those restaurants nearby and certainly offered better food and better value for money than those we sampled in the vicinity. The hotel has an internet cafe, indoor games and bar area with large flat screen TV (plenty of channels). It had large swimming pool and paddling pool with plenty of sun beds and umbrellas. As it happened, the hotel was very quiet as the area was "in between seasons" but it does I believe get very busy. The hotel offers airport transfer and transport to the beach if required. All the staff were very polite and helpful. Would I recommend it to others? All I can say is, "Get it booked, you won't be disappointed."

Arrived 21 September 2006, agree that this is a motel, however that said and for our purposes it was excellent, room and bathroom compact but practical, serviced to a very high standard daily, small terrace overlooks car park on one side fence and trees on the other, (car park side has the best of the afternoon sun).

Check in excellent, golf buggy transports you and cases to room,
Small safe in room (purchase activator for your stay on check in, excellent value at euro 1.95 per day have paid four times that rate at similar hotels!) mini bar is refreshingly (excuse pun!) priced no item over euro 1.50 beer and soft drinks only.

Tried restaurant on first night it was acceptable, breakfasts very good, cooked items, fresh fruit, various breads, croissants etc.

Bar, lounge and terrace nice for a drink or to sit and relax, baize card tables, Internet access off lobby,
Transport to nearby beaches, golf courses, and quinta shopping complex free between 09-00 & 18-00 available upon request at reception, book return at same time.

Beauty and Health spa, tennis court, available at extra charge, children’s play area beyond tennis court, pool small, plenty of sunbeds and outdoor tables and chairs.

Good idea to have a car, although we used local taxis, cost depending on time and day and charging band euro 10 to 13 to Vilamoura 10, 15 minutes away.

Gypsy market at Quateria on Wednesday morning OK, usual fake shirts T-shirts, copy watches etc. also some nice linen and the odd interesting stall including thin leather shaped into renaissance style faces as wall decorations priced from euros 5 to 65 for large double face with inset mirror.

TIP if you are going to the market and are finished about noon taxi rank outside bus station the queue for taxi’s was massive (this was end of September as well). We headed walking towards Vilamoura and my ever resourceful wife stuck out her hand as one passed he went to the next roundabout and doubled back picked us up and the look on the faces of the queue were priceless.

At Quinta shopping excellent pub grub at De Barra’s Irish Pub, Steaks, Pasta, Salads, All day Irish B’fast Chargrilled Burgers, Bangers and Mash etc. Meal for two including beers and water euro 30 to 50.

All in all a very relaxing weeks break the sun shining for 6 and ¾ days out of 7 did not hurt one bit either!!

Very much like a UK Premeir Inn, nice staff and clean rooms with Air Con, free bus shuttle bus to local beach or shoping area at Quinta Do Largo. This hotel is in a 5 start resort area between Quinta Do Largo and Vale Do Lobo.

Property around here can fetch 3 / 4 million pounds. This hotel is a great choice for a short break for golfers with free golf transfers to local courses.

Hotel is only 20 minutes from Faro Airport and 5 mins drive to the beach.

Breakfast is fine everything you could want.

Recommend....try it for a great cheap break.

It was clean and the room was a nice size. The staff was pleasant. The bed was a bit hard but served the purpose. There was plenty of hot water and good water pressure. There was a blow regular strength dryer in the bath room. The hotel had an iron and ironing board to borrow. It was walking distance to a mall which offered a variety of restaurants and shops.

at first arrival i was a bit worried we were to far from civilisation, but i need'nt have worried, there are plenty of restaurants and shopping within walking distance, our favorite " o tanque " was great watching the locals coming in for a beer after work as it cools down then going into the restaurant to eat genuine Portuguese cuisine very reasonably priced! the hotel shuttle bus takes you to the beach or into Almancil free and then its a short bus hop to Faro. Hotel gym is well eqiupped and the pools are lovely and clean. I would happily stay again. Oh,the buffet breakfast was simple but tasty and fresh. recommended!
