Guests have called out King's Head Inn for its prime location near beaches and scenic walks, complemented by a welcoming atmosphere and a pleasant patio garden. The hotel's cleanliness receives frequent praise, with spotless rooms and well-kept amenities, although there are suggestions that some areas could benefit from updates.
While the rooms are generally found to be comfortable and spacious, opinions on value vary, with some guests finding the pricing reasonable and others not as satisfied. The staff is often commended for being friendly and helpful, but there are warnings of inattentive service during meal times.

Detailed Reviews
MY wife and I stayed for two nights over the Easter weekend with friends at the Kings Head in the small village of Llangennith, west of Swansea on the Gower peninsula. The pub was lively with plenty of people of all ages enjoying the facilities there. Lots of outdoor and indoor seating and live music on Easter Sunday afternoon. Good local beer (Evans) on tap, and the reasonably priced food menu has daily specials, but bear in mind last orders for food are at 8:30 pm in the restaurant. Dogs are welcomed, but there is a dining area where dogs are not permitted that is reserved for those who are not dog-friendly.
If you stay there, the rooms are either in a purpose-built block with its own reception or in the townhouse, both sited close to, but far enough from the pub to prevent disturbance from the pub clients if you are an early sleeper. The rooms are modern, clean, well decorated and comfortable. Overnight the village is very quiet so you should be able to enjoy a good nights sleep.
There is a separate small car park for the guests staying in the townhouse which is convenient for unloading/loading your luggage. The room we stayed in had flagstone floor with underfloor heating controlled by a settable thermostat in the room. Tea and coffee facilities with fresh milk provided in the room fridge means you can enjoy a hot beverage in the room at any time. Room 4 had a bath so a welcome addition to ease the aches after a long walk along the Rhossili bay beach, just 45 minutes walk from the pub using footpaths to avoid the traffic on the narrow lanes. The beach is reportedly the best in Europe and a haven for surfing and other water sports as well as dog-walking.
Just across the road is a 1500 year old Celtic church that is a must to visit. Welsh cob ponies and sheep roam freely in the village keeping the grass trimmed and add to the character of the place.
Breakfasts are good with full English available along with the usual cereals, fruit juice and fresh fruit and give a good start to the day.
The staff work hard and the pub is run as a successful family business. Thanks to Emma, family and other staff who made our stay enjoyable and comfortable. A great place for a short stay to unwind from the stresses of daily life.

We’ve just returned from a few days at the kings head to celebrate my mother’s and her new husband’s wedding.
The staff couldn’t do enough to accommodate us, a large party of 17 keeping our glasses and belly’s full at all times and ensuring that the happy couple felt like they were royalty.
The rooms were spotless, large and very comfy and the beer garden was a sun trap with the most incredible views.
A huge thank you to everyone at the kings head for making my mother’s and my new stepfather’s wedding day a huge success.

We enjoyed three nights at the King's Head, and it was lovely from the word go thanks to the friendly staff. The food was tasty (special mention to the Welsh Dragonbreath curry and the Black and Blue burger!) and we really appreciated how well they catered to my boyfriend's coeliac diet, particularly for the full English breakfast! The hotel was in a perfect location to enjoy stunning views of the Gower sea and countryside. The only constructive feedback I'd give is:
- the Wi-Fi signal was very weak from our room (1), so a signal booster may be a good idea for this part of the accommodation.
- the room got quite warm during the night, so adding a fan to each room would be useful.
Thanks to all the team for a great few days!

Have had a recent quick get away to Llangennith, with my dog. In fairness, I booked last minute and dog-friendly hotels/inns can be difficult to find anyway.
However, with my dog the room worked out to be £150 for the night. I was willing to pay it, as it’s my first bit of annual leave for the year and trying to find a dog-friendly hotel in the local area was very difficult (last minute). In essence, it feels a little like the King’s Head Inn does milk this. The room was nothing special; it was nice, don’t get me wrong, but it wasn’t £135 (+£15 for the dog) nice.
The location is lovely, but I’m forced to admit that it can be somewhat let down by the vast number of surfing students that stop by for dinner (not an assumption, they were very loud and pretty clear about who and what they were). When you’ve arrived for a nice, quiet, relaxing stay and you’ve stepped into the bar for the first time, it wasn’t quite what I’d expected. The Covid precautions here are worthwhile and well-thought out. Nothing was overzealous or intrusive.
The food is average, nothing special, but also not unpleasant. It was reasonably priced, but again I’d challenge a little expensive for what it was. Breakfast is included in the price, although at £135 a night, this would be expected. Sadly, the deliveries had apparently not arrived and, as a result, there were no croissants or yoghurt. Not the end of the world, and the staff were happy to provide some additional cereal and coffee (on top of my full English).
With all said and done, the location is absolutely lovely, with some brilliant photo opportunities. In the early morning, the mist moved across the landscape and caught the morning sun, it really was quite exquisite. I suppose, in reality, the King’s Head charges a premium for the location. Would I stay again, I’m not certain. I would probably do a little research and try to find somewhere else that doesn’t charge quite as much, as I’m sure the views and countryside look similar, regardless of which part of the local area you stay.

Stayed one weekend night . Room was spacious and clean. However no hairdryer as advertised and the nice large Tv did not work at all, Reoprted this to reception ( twice and 2 hours apart) who said they would send someone along to sort it but no one came. Ground floor rooms suprisingly have no blind or net for privacy so the heavier curtains have to be used which blocks light and air flow.
Had pre booked a table for dinner but when we got there on time my husband had to go outside and join a 25 minute queue to order drinks and food. They do have an app to place orders but the Wifi in neither the bedroom nor the restaurant would connect to it so no choice but to join this queue which was for bar drinks and also for food. People on next table had the same issue so not just us. When it came food was very good but we could not face the same queue again for dessert order. Why not have a pub order queue and something much better for residents as the room rate is not low. Breakfast was very good and staff were friendly throughout -but shrugging about queues and not coming to see to room issues isnt good enough at this price, even on busy evenings.

Dear WalesvisitOr, Thank you for your lovely review but I am sorry to read some of the comments - hair dryers removed due to guidance inline with COVID regulations but are available at request and this is stated in email correspondence. Maintenance did attend but unfortunately issues that could not be immediately rectified. When kitchen is reaching capacity we do limit it to the one person taking orders to ensure the kitchen does not get overwhelmed. As many hospitality businesses are stating we are 100% open but due to being short staffed it has increased pressure on all our staff and we are trying our best to ensure the staff are looked after. We will however look to adding the desserts to the APP - ensuring you wouldn't have to queue again. I can ensure you all comments have been taken on board. Hope to see you again, All @ the King's Head

Paid £660 for a two night break with family (2 rooms) 100% would not recommend it! Arrived and there were 10 dog poo bags outside the door! We were nearly sick! We froze in the night because the quilt covers were so thin! We ventured to the bar for drinks and were told there were no tables for us because you have to book weeks in advance. Thank goodness we has booked a table for the second night! But we were soon to be disappointed once again. The queue for the bar was so long took 40 mins to be served then they told us our booking was taken for the 19th September! We had no table to eat once again! We had to go elsewhere. We had to rearrange our taxi for the second night again too. It was disgusting. We paid a lot of money to stay here and couldn’t eat or drink there. The hotel is run by too many youngsters. We had breakfast here too but it didn’t arrive for 30 minutes. It wasn’t worth waiting to eat either. Tinned mushrooms! Walked into our room Saturday evening and we had no lights. (The youngsters behind the bar did quickly flick the trip switch when I went to get them and they were polite young men). There is the most miserable and intimidating old lady behind the bar. Very rude too! The shower in our room was a little trickle! And the soap was brown and slimy. What a disaster of a weekend. So disappointed. I will complain by email to them again because there was no one in reception this morning.

Hi Emma, We are very sad and sorry to read your review. We are a family run business and all of us and our staff work very hard and are all saddened by your comments. We are still awaiting your email as we would very much like to follow up on your review and make sure this doesn't happen again. ◾ We cannot control other guest actions and sorry they left rubbish outside your room ◾ There is individual thermostats in the rooms for you to control the temperature. As well as a spare blanket in the wardrobe. ◾ We state in the confirmation email upon booking and the day before arrival due to limited space it is advisable to book a table. ◾ We encourage all guests to use the APP to order to avoid any queues (signs in the pub, and in your room) ◾ All table bookings are confirmed with an email so the wrong dates should've been picked up - I apologise for this error. ◾ Breakfast is cooked fresh to order so at peak periods there will be delays, but i can assure you fresh mushrooms (not tinned) are used. ◾ Unfortunately a trip can go at any time and was instantly rectified. ◾ Unfortunately due to Covid some of our more more senior staff are not able to work as you pointed out we do employ a number of students but all are mainly in their 20s and are trained and supervised when needed. ◾ The shower issue would have been resolved had you reported it. Again, we are deeply saddened and sorry you felt the need to join trip advisor just to review us like this. Lara

We had heard some great things about The Kings Head Inn so booked ahead of our break away. We were 6th in the bar queue to say we had arrived (by then we were 10 mins late) to be shown to a table in a freezing room. The ceiling was made up of sound boards suspended from the barn roof and things were store against the wall. The table was by an outside door which was part of the one way system, so we dined with coats on!
We couldn’t get any signal to download the app we were asked to order from so then we had to queue again to order at the bar (5th in line). The staff were really friendly and took our order.
I had to order gluten free and chose a pizza. Shop bought base (sad) with tons of topping but I’d I eat pizza out I don’t expect to eat the same I could buy off the shelf. So disappointing and not tasty. The rest of the diners enjoyed theirs though - the pies looked amazing!

Dear Ruthastringer, As you had booked a table we have your name, phone number and email for track & trace so this is infact incorrect. We also have QR codes to scan on all entrances. We as a team are working very hard through this pandemic and following all guidance. Doors and windows are left open to increase ventilation as per Government guidelines. It is very sad that by following guidelines and recommendations we are receiving negative reviews as this is a hard enough time for hospitality businesses without the backlash. We hope you visit again and understand all we are doing to provide a safe environment. All @ the King’s Head

I would like to say a huge thank you to Jamie, and every single member of the bar, kitchen and breakfast staff who looked after us so admirably during our two “Wedding” stay.
Special thanks tho must go to Lara who helped plan, organise and implement our “Wedding Reception” notwithstanding the little time we had given her to prepare.
The Pub itself , in common with most of the Hospitality industry, had suffered greatly during the 2 year pandemic.
The time was used so well with a sympathetic revamp of almost the entire Pub. The front beer garden, with its views and atmosphere will always be a magnet for me, especially given the weather in the last couple of days. The Seating has been upgraded and the floor area levelled and improved.
The Restaurant area completely revamped partially due to COVID requirements has been and improved with the seating area now having a more cosy feel with the rows of tables replaced. The area has been extended into what was the kitchen to a high standard and the new toilets area is a revelation. No longer is there a danger of me banging my head 😂
Separate Dog friendly Bar has its own special atmosphere still , with the back garden area also now completely renovated to include new Toilets and looking a whole lot different to pre covid days.
Time well spent on these improvements
We stayed in the Town House which contained 7 rooms, perfectly fitting our party in terms of space , fittings & feel.
Finally and with absolutely of no less importance I turn to the Staff. Clearly they had been well briefed on our day, but the level of attentiveness , courtesy & nothing too much trouble attitude.
All done with a smile and genuine interest in our party from the youngest to us oldies (not forgetting the 4 dogs in our party) was simply fantastic.
The Bar Staff , The Front of House breakfast ladies, along with those cooking our meals behind the scenes were all so friendly. Our special day was enhanced because of them. Congratulations to the recruitment team.
Finally thanks to Andrew and Emma for allowing us to use the pub to celebrate our Day.
Llangennith remains a special place with the Pub at its heart.

My partner and I stayed for a night during covid restrictions and we paid a very reasonable price for bed and breakfast.
When we arrived we went to have a couple of drinks next to the log burner in the bar.
Their covid rules were more than satisfactory and the staff were very friendly, chatty and helpful.
Our room was beautifully clean and spacious with a fabulous king size bed and a stunning bathroom.
We were also lucky enough to have a great view.
We had an evening meal. The menu was reduced due to covid but there was ample choice and variety. The food was stunning and quite obviously home made. My partner said it was the best cod and chips he'd ever had! The full English breakfast the following morning was to match. So tasty with lovely quality produce.
We so enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning for another.
