It is a great place to stay and eat. Next to the ski slope and chairlift, with a great panorama view, the location is simply perfect. In the SPA is you find all you need to relax and recover. The food is delicious. The team is very guest oriented und up to the director, all work hard to make the guests happy. Nevertheless, a few points to improve. We got a bathrobe just on request and one day the croissants were out of stock at breakfast 30 minutes prior the buffet closed. Sometimes the dinner took a bit long, which can become a bit a challenge with small kids. Overall we enjoyed it and plan to go back.
We spent a fabulous 3 days in the Onya resort and spa hotel. Beautiful rooms and an amazing chef. The restaurant well deserves it’s Gault & Millau stars. The spa is small but has it all. Very clean, new and efficient. Just a shame our room didi not have thew sheer curtains to shield us from the view of the neighbos in the room on the same floor next to us. An easily solutionned omission, I am sure.
The Onya is one of those hotels of which you'd think, after having left: "Hmm, I wish I booked more nights". Which is probably what we'll do... next time. Right from check-in you feel welcome in this cozy hotel. It's called 'resort' but don't worry, it's not some huge tourism factory. Instead it has kind of the perfect size to remain personal and provide a consistent high level of service. People in general seems to be very friendly in Bellwald, and so is the staff at the Onya. The Onya is located right next to the chairlift. Nice for the lazy skiers (like myself) who don't like carrying their gear and equally convenient for the sun loving tourists who like to take the lift one last time before closing to make a downhill run on one of those fun mountain carts. The hotel has a SPA which is has the correct size and features... like a sauna... which is hot! (but I guess that's how a sauna should be). However, we do feel sorry... sorry for the other restaurants in the village. Because Chefin Bund and her team... you rock! We liked the food that much that we actually cancelled our booking in another restaurant (again, sorry), just to enjoy the food served at the Onya/Alten Gasse once more. Obviously there's also room for improvement so some advice for the management: - Put a complimentary bottle of water in the rooms. It's kind of an expectation for a 4* hotel. As well as a chocolate every day (not just on arrival).. we love chocolate. - Provide information on the parking facilities on your website: the fact that there is a parking, the price/day and the alternatives if your private parking is full. - Reach out to your guests a few days before arrival to ask if they would like to dine in. Especially when the restaurant is likely to be fully booked. - Make sure to keep the Chef(in) on board, she's one of your biggest assets! For future guests: try out the Urs Hecht Vieille Williams from the big bottle... oh la la... See you next time!…
Thanks to Basti, Olli, Lisa and all the other Staff for making our stay so special. We spend 6 very relaxing days in "Winter Wonderland". Amazing Xmas in a spectacular scenery. Every evening we were indulged with a great dinner with surprising and delicious food. We felt very welcome and part of the Onya family. The excellent Spa, the small but well prepared ski resort in front of the door and the picturesque wooden houses in the village gave us a beautiful and relaxing surrounding. We will come back
We spent one night at the Onya Resort and one at the Zur Alten Gasse, as we made a late reservation and did not find the two nights at the Onya. The hotels are connected by the Reception and it was nice to try both. The Onya is greatly designed, nice and welcoming spa area, mountain chalet decoration and brand new! We felt so well from the first moment we arrived till the end! The Zur Alten Gasse has been partly renovated and it offers smaller rooms but nice decoration and brand new bathrooms, so it was as great! We would have enjoyed a third night there too :-) The owner and the director together with the staff at the restaurant, were really nice and made their best to help with itineraries, all kind of information and were fast and responsive when we asked for something, There is really the attention to details and the care for guests that you have in a family-run cosy and luxury hotel! We would definitely recommend to stay at the Onya and hope to get back one day! Liliana and Laurent…
The weekend we spent at the peaceful located hotel Onya was perfect relaxing. The room was, just like the hotel, brand new and offered all the luxury we needed. The large windowfront points out to the ski slopes and offers a unique view of the surrounding mountains. The employees are really kind and help you wherever they can. The breakfast and dinner was delicious too. The spa area was very pleasant and clean. We hope to be back one day.
Our stay at the Onya resort was the perfect mountain getaway for two Canadian travellers! Our room was spacious and tastefully decorated; we especially loved the wood panelled roof and lovely balcony overlooking the Swiss Alps. The wellness centre included a sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, pool, fitness room, as well as lounging chairs, all overlooking the beautiful mountains. The staff were incredibly courteous, prompt and kind. All logistics from transportation to meals were flawless. The quality of the food at dinner in the resort’s restaurant was outstanding, as was the complimentary breakfast in the morning. The Onya is located in a resort area with immediate access to ski lifts, which is perfect for outdoor activities in both summer (hiking, biking, paragliding) and winter seasons (skiing and snowboarding). For any Canadians or Americans travelling in Switzerland, the Onya is the ideal place to relax, to play and to enjoy the best of the Swiss countryside. We highly recommend!
Stayed at the Onya Resort § Spa for 2 days, wish I could have stayed longer. As a retired airline pilot I have seen many hotels and I have to say, this is one of my favorite. Excellent food and service, the hotel director and his assistant Alice are the perfect host, they do the outmost to make your stay a memorable experience. The rooms are nice, very clean and comfortable. The view over the valley is breathtaking. The perfect place for hiking (and skiing in the winter which I definitely will try). If you stay there you can you the cable car to the peak for free.
I loved the location of the hotel and the view from my room. The food was amazing and so was the massage therapist! The location is great for hiking and skiing. Bellewald is a quaint town off the beaten path. The surrounding views are beautiful no matter where you look.
The rooms have a panoramic view of the Alps in the Valais Valley, not far from Zermatt. From the pool / spa area you look right at the mountains and hear the cow bells, Bellwald is a beautiful small village that makes you feel as if time stood still. Hikes on the panoramic trails lead to glaciers, meadows full of alpine flowers and pretty chalets. Worthwhile visiting summer and winter (with skiing).
