We have visited here four times and we will come back again. The whole place is so well done and romantic. This time we had hotel room and it was really nice but won’t be ours first choise. Spa is really nice and only for adults after 6pm. We ate at the Lotjabat. There is take away available.

This place is so good that it is hard to describe. It is in the middle of lakelands and getting to the hotel is hard. But really worth it. There are options and activities for several day. We stayed two nights. The goods: - Stunning nature - Great food: lots of options to choose. - The dinner cruise was lovely - Good activities: went running, fishing, seal spotting, and spa. Lot to do for several days. - High quality accomodation The bads: - A bit expensive - Remote location

We stayed two nights in the hotel. The room was very nice with all the nice details. The atmosphere was a little bit like on a Middle Ages. The breakfast was good and the 3 course dinner also. Staff was helpful. The Spa was really relaxing and nicely decorated. The snack in the pool Bar was included to the price. All in all, nice, but pricy place. The spa isn’t in the same building with the hotel rooms, so that was a bit disappointement. There also weren’t any shops nearby,so if you are looking for the grocery store, you have to go to the Rantasalmi. It’s 10 km:s away. That was a pity.

Great wilderness lodge with good food, hiking and lake ship activities. The staff were friendly and the spa facilities were first rate. I'd certainly advise anyone touring through central Finland to spend at least one night here.

Arrived here in a group of 21 from Australia. We had the rooms with the communal area with a fireplace our private rooms adjoining. The fireplace in the communal are area did not work and when we brought this to the attention of reception they said ‘they sometimes work, sometimes don’t’. I would expect a resort of this calibre to have everything running as it should. Quite disappointing. Then go to the restaurant and order a wine to have Susanna give you a glass 3/4 full and try to ignore you when asking about it. The wine glasses have the measurements on them and she was just lazy and did not want to get another bottle to fill the glass to the correct level. All in all a very disappointing trip to this establishment. Things that do not work and staff that are trying to rip you off.

We spend one night at the higly recommended Järvisydän suites (Maisemasviitti). First of all: the area it not cosy at all, almost all the trees are gone and the suites are located too close to another. Not much privacy at all. Also the location of many of the suites is bad: the view is towards the parking lot (I did not pay for that). The first suite had broken panorama window. This kind of suite should not be given to any customer. The next one had a different window broken. And by "broken" I mean like totally broken, shattered. You could not see throught it. When I mentioned this at the reception, they said that for some reason the sales department likes to keep these broken suites in sales, althtough there have been reclamations of them. The maisemasuite is not too luxurious: it is really hard to sit cosy around the kitchen table (too hard benches that you cannot adjust). The bathroom is tiny. We had two dogs with us and the whole suite was too small for two adults and two small dogs. What we liked was that we were able to order food directly too the room and the quality of the dinner was good. The breakfast at Piikatyttö was not anything too delicious and most of the veggies were finished at 10 am, 1 hour prior the end of breakfast. On final day, we visited the spa which against all my expectations was really small and we spend only an hour there as there was not much to do there. Some of the saunas were not in use and you cannot actually swim there. The pool is small and quite chilly. There are no jacuzzis or anyting really relaxing. We were really disappointed with the spa. The prices for this place are quite high even for Finnish price level. I must say I have received a lot better experience from cheaper places such as the Bomba spa in Nurmes.

I could have written a five star review about Järvisydän, but unfortunately there was one big flaw with our stay - it’s called MOLD! Our family stayed in the scenery suites, we had 3 of them. 1 of them was totally fine, but 2 of them had a moldy smell. It had rained when we arrived so we first assumed that maybe this was the issue and it would resolve once we turn on the AC and ventilation. Directly after we had arrived we did go to the reception to complain about it, but we basically didn’t receive a reaction at all. There were also ants in one of our cabin, which they promised we would get a ant trap for. They said they would bring the ant trap immediately. They did not. We also told the reception that we could try to see if the mold smell would go away until the next day. It did not! The next day we complained again. But no reaction, again. We were also promised the ant trap again, which we didn’t receive until evening. So more than 24h after we asked for it. Just the fact that the room had ants is of course also not so nice… On our third day we mentioned the mold issue again, but nothing was done about it. Somehow we managed to survive our stay, tried to stay in the rooms as little as possible. Luckily the weather was nice so we could be outdoors. But really a pity because we had paid so much for this stay, which was supposed to be nice. What was even worse, is that ALL of our clothes, bags, shoes, ALL luggage we had had with us smelled like mold when we got home. We had to keep all shoes and bags outside for weeks after for the smell to at disappear a little bit. I also had to wash all of our clothes several, several times for the smell to go away. Quite furios about this, I of course sent them an e-mail, which I only received one response to where they would “check the rooms”, but never heard back since then. Even if I reminded them. We did notice than several of the scenery suits around us were being renovated, there were even construction men living in them while renovating. As far as we could tell. So one could really not help but wonder if our suite was just waiting for us to leave to be renovated… and that the hotel DID know about the mold issues…. Another issue with the suites is that the roofs don’t have any protection screens so it gets extremely hot inside and you have to blast the aircon on hot days and keep the curtains closed. The curtains also don’t close properly, and especially in the roof it’s a problem as you are blended by the light in the morning. Also the suites were not very clean at all. A lot of dirt and dust in the corners, especially around the windows. Which where we had the ant-problem. The spa was amazing and the service was so kind and good. 5 out of 5 stars to the lady working in the reception! Our kids loved the spa and we did too. It’s quite small but just enough! It was quite empty when we visited. The breakfast is nice but very busy! You have to walk a very long way to get food if you don’t manage to catch one of the close by tables. We did a cruise + bonfire cruise and both very amazing and staff super nice. Especially the woman and captain on the cruise driving out to the island, they were really service minded and helpful and nice. We had planned to hop off to one of the island to visit the cafe there, as I had read online that it’s open every day. Luckily I asked the staff just before we were about the hop off, and she mentioned it was closed!!! So instead we stayed on the boat and even if they didn’t actually sell any food, we were allowed to buy some Karjalanpiirakka anyway. Our kids were happy! 5/5 stars for the service onboard. I believe we were onboard M/S Marival. The restaurant boat M/S Puijo was not worth a visit. There were no options for kids (even if we had asked advance at the reception.) It was very hot inside, wine was warm and sweet (no options available, you had to take what you got) and the buffet food just ok-ish. We had to pay a lot for the kids even if they had no options to eat really. We even asked if they could make them something else, but no. Maybe some kids eat sushi and steak but ours don’t, unfortunately. We also had thought that it was a la carte and and not buffet. But this could have been our own misunderstanding. The restaurant in the reception building had really good food, we tried almost everything. They also had good options for kids and the service was good. The location for the hotel is nice and had a nice small sandy beach, and nice pier and you could do a lot of water activities as well, we didn’t try them though but looked nice. There was also a small playground on the hotel area. The full Järvisydän area itself is really beautiful. You can’t argue with that! So all in all, I would have given 5 stars if it wasn’t for the horrible moldy/moist smell in TWO of our 3 suites. And especially for the way this was (not) handled by the staff both during our stay and after. Now there is no way I can give more than 1 star. Writing this review 2 months after we stayed, because I had still hoped for an answer. Give them chance to fix it. And maybe for my disappointment to settle, but no. Every time I take out one of the bags I brought with me on this trip I am welcomed by the moldy smell and I am reminded of this disappointing trip and service we received at Järvisydän. It’s such a pity, because I would love to go back, but I would never risk another 2000 euros (!) wasted. Which is what these moldy suits costed for us in total.

Location by the lake was beautiful. There were many different activities on and by the lake available. However, check-in took at least 45 minutes due to the queue as all guests were arriving at the same time at 3 pm. We had the Scenery Suite which was quite pricy. That allows us to expect more luxury than was provided for example some complementary toiletries. The room was rather small and the scenery to the lake was blocked by neighbouring cabins though the skylight window was really nice when there were no clouds. Proper blackout curtain would have been nice in the sunny morning. Same queuing waited us also when arriving for our dinner reservation to Piikatyttö restaurant. All customers were given the same time when to arrive and thus we needed to wait quite a while before someone seated us. The service was mediacre taken account the fine dining type of restaurant. The spa was beautiful but unfortunately the water was a bit cold and there were no hot tubs. The outside pool was as cold as the lake water. Luckily the saunas were nice and warm so you could warm up in there. However, we enjoyed our stay but with these prices we were expecting a bit more.

Poor service at the Bistro, no acknowledgment when we arrived, just "Go and order at the bar". Service at the bar even poorer, we felt like we were troubling them. We came here after a boat trip to a nearby island. Mediocre food. No kiddie menu. The whole place has a weird vibe.

We liked the concept itself, but some things were not planned thoroughly. I.e. the cottages with a view might not have a good view, so you should ask for a good one. Luckily we got such. It was a pleasant experience to see Järvisydän once, but we are not sure if we will go again. It was pretty expensive, and there’s nothing too remarkable. At least for a Finn, to be exact. And for those coming from other countries, these buildings don’t represent Finnish traditional building types and culture. The dinner was good but rather expensive. Breakfast was quite OK. Avoid the wine tasting; it’s like a comedy. The activities at the lake might be the best part here, and the spa is unique and worth trying. Enormous crowd at the front desk. And please, remember to ask for an invoice (we only got the terminal receipt).
