Visited with the family for two night stay, and overall experience is good (above average) mainly because of the staff, food and the calm and quite environment. There were three staff (cook and two care takers) who supported during our stay and i would really appreciate there effort to make us comfortable in every manner during our stay. special thanks to Ranawana (cook) who make really good, tasty food (both western and local) and special BBQ.. This location has two main buildings which as 2 room each. the new wing has its rooms in 1st floor and old wing has its on ground floor. Old wing only one room has attached bath room and the other room has to use the common bathroom. Overall the rooms are not maintained properly. broken locks, windows, lamps, bathroom fittings, etc found in almost all the rooms. i think management has to consider this and do a proper refurbishment on entire location. Also, if you try to find the location using "google maps" navigator, it shows the WRONG direction. After the Kataluwa Central college there is a "Y" Junction (after the white garden fence) you need to take (google map says you need to take the turn from different road) the turn. Better to contact the hotel and get the directions. Summary of All; 1. Location : Good 2. Food: fabulous (you have to bring the items and give it to the cook with the menu.. he will prepare it for you... any style.. Italian, Asian, Mongolian... etc) 3. Rooms : Poor (Old wind one room does not have attach bath room, poor amenities, not maintained, broken lamps, wash room water has bad smell and color -brown) 4. Route to hotel: Bit difficult to find (better follow google maps and last mile get the direction from the hotel since google maps has shown wrong route) 5. Staff: Very good (extremely satisfied with the staff, their attitudes, support) 6. Other entertainment facilities: Very poor (TV was not working, no WiFi, no board games or card packs, etc) I would recommend to the management to do a full refurbishment this place (specially the rooms, new wing ground floor and back yard), put some indoor game items such as Carom boards, Card packs, chess board, dart board, etc... Finally.. have to mention the guard dog they have.. "Bella"was a really nice dog.. and very friendly.. if you are a dog lover.. you will definitely miss this dog when your leaving..…
Location was good. Cleanliness was terrible. The place was not swept in the two days we were there. They didn't have linen. Excuse given was they sent it to be washed. No napkins were available. Caretaker always on the phone and doesn't listen when told what to cook. Wifi not available as its not located in the bungalow. Not worth for the money spent . It was 35000 for a night and 2000 Fr cooking. Hot water didn't work. Didn't enjoy one bit
It's a tradition style place filled with antiques. Exterior and Interior work is marvellous. few problem actually occured during our stay. One of them is, road to access this place is quite small and little bit hard to find. Water pressure is quite low as well. Other than that, service is great too and staff is friendly as well. The place is quite eco friendly as well. It's located next to a river and you can see bunch of money jumping among trees during morning time.
Nice piece of architect and real feel of staying in “Wallawwa”. Surrounding was great but unfortunately we could not enjoy at all as it was heavy raining all day. You have maximum privacy and there are 3 staff who takes care of your all needs. Chef’s food was great and he made milk rice & pol roti with few curries for breakfast was simply amazing. There are two houses which is located separately was not ideal to us on that rainy day. However feel property needs proper maintenance as we had some issues which was attended by staff promptly but took long time due to lack of equipments. Also amenities are very basic where you better take all. To make the booking I called to the number on site then I was given another 2 numbers to make the booking which I believe not a good strategy on marketing. Even it was mentioned they have cable TV on site but was not working as monkeys have damaged the dish. But in a rainy day like we stayed, it was not a good reason to accept. Was disappointed as reservation was not communicated to property staff where bungalow was not ready from last check out when we arrived which made bit frustrated as we had to stand outside in a corridor in a heavy rainy situation. However staff did a great job cleaning the place in a short time. If it did not rain I am sure this place would be a great place for a peaceful hideaway.…
