A unique location with views of the ocean and the lagoon!!! Practically my room was directly facing the ocean and I slept like a baby listening to the sounds of the waves!!! The hotel is a small family run business with a friendly staff. I was there for family business matters and stayed here for 12 nights. The room was clean and the King Size bed was very comfortable. I cannot say enough good things about the breakfast with fresh fruits and fresh juice and the portions are very large. I am not sure if this is a normal breakfast they serve or because I was staying there on a long stay at this hotel. Right in front of the hotel the beach has good surf and you will see lots of surfers surfing from your room. I am not a surfer so I walked a few yards south walking along the beach and found a very nice secluded beach where I swam instead of using the hotel pool. You will see gorgeous sunsets and sunrises from this hotel. The seafood dishes at the restaurant are fresh and delicious and again big portions!! The manager Chandana and the staff was very helpful and recommended a neaby Spa Oya for a Balinese full body massage which me and a friend who visited me enjoyed very much. More than anything else I will never forget the kindness and the hospitality of the staff. I will definitely come back here again next time I come to visit Sri Lanka. Really top notch food. Great location. Great surf. And swimming too just up the beach. Food and drink was heaven. Definitely above the normal standard. Loved it. Plus turned into a fun lively evening as the sun went down as well which is great as lots of places are v quiet. Vinod Edirisooriya was a brilliant host as well. Lovely people, lovely place!!

South beach resort and restaurant was an amazing place to stay while for surfing and enjoying the many sights of the south coast of Sri Lanka. After getting a a wave in the morning we came back to eat breakfast overlooking the beach in an open air restaurant overlooking the reef we had just surfed. The staff are amazing,friendly and did everything they could ever do to make our time as amazing as possible, Vinod Edirisooriya was always very eager to talk and recommend experiences that we would enjoy. I could not recommend this place enough it made for an amazing stay I will never forget. Thankyou to all of the staff of southbeach resort for such a great experience I will definitely come back on another trip to Sri Lanka.

We walked past the bar on the way back to our villa with the intention of staying for a few beers and watching the lightening. We ordered a lion beer and it was totally flat and tasted awful. Initially we were just going to drink it and not say anything but really drink it so I decided to tell the waiter in the hope we could get a beer we could drink. He asked if I had tasted Lion beer before - I explained we have been drinking it for the past four weeks. He said he didn’t know what to do and that another couple were drinking beer. We were not offered a replacement but were instead made to feel like we were in the wrong. My husband then spoke to the manager & got the same message. Very unhappy to have paid for a beer which we did not drink. Very poor customer service.

nice stay in the old building, feels like back to 80's ( old design carving handrail wood stair handrail and the wall painting also old) with the waves sound, ocean view, second floor is my favorite and room rates is just enough. i compare with other hotel, one each other try make new building to competition be the best and newest model, this hotel maybe already 20 years old, how they just keep old painting and model is so classy for me, make me focus meditate and peaceful feeling..
